  1. That's my birthday weekend! Should be super cool. I'll be there.
  2. My rig is red/black tye dye Perigee pro. I was also wearing a top mount camera. I was with a really cute BASE chick. Maybe that'll help
  3. Hmmm..... no DexterBase pics huh? That's alright, sometimes I'm so sneaky I don't appear on film. Hey, perhaps if anybody has cool shots of each other, they can post so we can see cool shots of DZ.commers in action!
  4. How about the time Chad and Katie thought they opened a new object? Turns out Moe had jumped it several years before when there was actually security and there was some challenge to getting up there. Well the challenge part is back but that's Katie's fault. She burned it.
  5. Which Chad? DexterBase Chad, or the um... other chad? Sounds like colorado guys.
  6. Any BASE jumpers visiting Seattle, I will hook you up with a rope jump if you want to do one Edit: We can do rope jumps all night and then do a BASE jump dawn load from the same object. Pretty cool spot.
  7. (Domestic) I always wear my rig, not even in the stashbag, just like a backpack with the legstraps dangling. I've even carried my helmet in my hands. I've never had any problems. Sometimes the TSA people ask some friendly questions, but I've never been delayed or otherwise held up.
  8. This catch and release stuff is getting way out of hand!
  9. Hey guys, this thread is about ME!!!!
  10. I'm not saying we didn't share an incredible moonrise reflecting over the bay (from the exit point on a tower), all I'm saying is we never... um... now that I think about it, you know, Faber was there too.
  11. What magazine? I'm pretty familiar with SRB's.
  12. For those who might be wondering... I did not have sexual relations with Hookitt.
  13. Although that figure seems really high, there's a reason SEALs are offered big re-enlistment bonuses. Considering that (after the huge cost of training) it takes over a million dollars a year to keep a SEAL deployable, spending $50,000 to keep them from leaving and going to work for Triple Canopy or BlackWater is money well spent. Those companies are willing to spend a lot of money to get the tier 1 spec-ops guys to work for them.
  14. If I jump with you, I'm not leaving you period. There's no way. We're in it together until we're drinking beer and watching the video. Even if you're dead, I will sit by you and wait until someone shows up.
  15. I think the 100 jump rule is a good guideline, but don't expect to have the skills required to jump this site just because you have done 100 BASE jumps. If you've done 100 jumps at the Perrine, you are NOT ready to jump at Royal Gorge. If your landing areas are always nice open fields, same thing. The landing area is like half of the beach at the Perrine, with squirrely winds and bad news on all sides. You need to be surgical with your canopy flight and if you're not absolutely confident in your accuracy skills, then seriously consider waiting until you are. Be able to fly your entire flight in deep brakes, make a flat turn without swinging into a wall, stall the canopy vertically to burn altitude, and ease into full flight to flare and land. You have a year to get ready! Do accuracy jumps and get really familiar with object avoidance drills. You are basically jumping two cliffs at the same time and you can hit either one of them! The deeper you go, the tighter things get. If you're experienced and you have the skills, show up. The event is way rad and not to be missed.
  16. I'm planning on doing exactly that.
  17. OH MY GOD. Wow, Katie and I just got back in a few minutes ago. What an incredible site! I'm amazed by the event and all the planning and professionalism that goes into making this possible. A huge thanks to GoFast, APEX BASE, and all the staff for the hard work. It paid off for us bigtime! I got four jumps in on Saturday, three from the bridge and one three-way out of the gondola with Tom and Katie. What an absolutely incredible BASE jump. It's hard to think of a more breath taking canyon to be hauling ass down into. Friday was gorgeous and the wind cooperated all day. I don't think we went on wind hold at all. Saturday started off well, but the winds picked up to the point where there was not even a thought of possibly jumping. I'm talking NUKING. There's still potential for tomorrow, so hopefully they'll get more jumps in. Continue to be safe. Per, it was really cool um... meeting you. (You crazy bastards)
  18. I think if it's your qualifying jump for that category, then it should be a classic example of that category. If it's your first cliff, make sure it's a cliff. If it's your first building, make sure it's clearly a building. Other than that, just log it as a BASE jump and have a good time. I don't put the category of object in my logbook at all. I just write a brief description of the jump, exit point, gear, weather, who was on the load, etc. I don't worry about categories. You know Faber even logs scary skydives as BASE jumps. I looked through his logbook and he only has about five actual BASE jumps in there.
  19. Were you wearing body armor?
  20. Ya know, one night I did a solo from a really huge, really sexy, green bridge in California. My landing was, let's say, less than graceful and I planted my face directly in the ground. I sniffed and sniffed to keep the blood from dripping out of my nose and onto my gear while I crammed it into my stashbag. I could feel little bits of hard grit in my mouth and I moved them around with my tongue. They felt like tooth fragments. I spit them into my hand but I didn't have a light to look at them to see what they were. I didn't want to lose them because they felt like they might be important. I held the bits in my hand until I got to my car where I could turn on the dome light and see that they were pieces of gravel that I must have eaten when I drove my skull into the road. I like fullface helmets. I don't know why.
