High speed electric trains 'should'/'could' replace a great proportion of domostic and some international flights. Initially they would be more expensive (potentially), but the convenience of leaving and arriving in the CBD, less security needed, and zero (immediate) emmisions. While in France I was 'awakened' to how efficient, comfortable and fast trains can be. We were travelling at 350kmph but the train are rated to 500kmph on a straight track. Those are old technology in the great scheme of things these days too and there is no reason trains couldn't travel as fast as aircraft if the same amount of money was put into the technology as is currently invested in the commercial aviation industry. Hi Trunk, You need to improve the wiring on the lights, all of ours keep breaking, we have about 20 instructors using them on handicams, we have used all the spare lights you gave us and people are now moving to Go-pro's because they are sick of replacing hype eyes, the Cx-100's are working fine but the hype eyes keep failing and causing refunds, loss of customers memories and loss of income for the DZ and instructors. I suggest you 'beef up' the wiring because alhough you may be selling more units at present, you will find your customers moving away from cameras that need hype eyes because we are almost spending more money on switches than cameras now! both my wife and myown cam eye 2's lasted for more than 2000 camera jumps each and still work, we retired them because we don't have a cameras that take them anymore... but they still work fine we are only getting a couple of hundred from the hype eyes. It is important that I tell you this in honesty, I like the product, they serve a great purpose and are really functional when they work. The way I take it is you will connect a GPS device to the unit via a connection of some type and it uses the inforation to dispaly it with a basic LED/lcd display, the maths on the mirrors etc has already been done by the military. I know it is difficult to get a foia application fulfilled, but it does happen. I have seen some documents come out through the FOIA over the past 12 months pertaining to the 9/11 debarcle that surprise me considerably. It took 'alot' of time energy and money but they got them. The fact that it is difficult to get documentation through the FOIA does not take away from the fact that the FOIA exists in the forst place, same goes for the constitution. Don't hold your breath. The question of 'Do you hate the US government' is a tricky one. As much as many will like to beleive I hate America and Americans as a whole because I have the audacity to point out some problems with the USA, these problems are reoccuring the world around and have more to do with corruption than 'most' of the policies that are in place. There are many beautiful things about the US governmnet. Administrations change but many of the policies have been in place for a couple of hundred years or more, and are set in what was thought of as stone. This was to protect the people of the United States of America from rougue politicians that intend on gaining personal power and finance at the expense of the american people. Now the reality is that the current administration and many previous have a culture of abusing these laws and even overiding them for the sake of thier own personal progress at the expense of the american people. There are policies like the freedom of information act and first ammendment that allow the US people have thier say and get thier information if need be. The american government changes with each administration, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Hate is a strong word. To emcompass the government entirely and hate every aspect of it would be stupid. Government is vast and the good deeds of the good guys are claimed by the bad guys and the bad deeds of the bad guys are blamed on the goood guys, that is human. Your question is deeply flawed! I was taught to pack tandems before I did my first jump. I was on a commercial skydiving diploma course and packing was the very first thing we learned, and the weather was shit for the forst month... If one is not only told 'how' to pack but 'WHY" each process is done, then the chances are they will take more attention to symmetry and precison. Most people just teach them 'how' to pack and exclude the why part. And we all know tandem linetwists are most often caused by bad body position and the inability to fly the opening. Hell I get 1 or 2 linetwists (out of linestretch) all the time during the snivel but by the time the slider comes down they are gone. This is not always possible but most of the time It is. ... well in a cold environment anyway. www.reconinstruments.com These Goggles, are more for the use of winter sports and the have an internal device with small projecting display that projects a virtual 14 inch display in your feild of vision. I was going to post this in the wingsuit column as it has its best appliction for those flocking type, due to havng real time forward speed and verticle speed etc so one could see in thier filed of vision wherever thay are looking how efficient they are flying, while thay are actually doing it. Flocks could be set at a certain forward speed and verticle speed to allow closer formations with contact... but the application for these goggles is seemingly endless, so I posted it here. I guess it really comes down to the lag they have, they use GPS systems rather than a barometer for gathering information and are intended for high speed Skiing, snowboarding and snowmobileing etc. So should be more reilable than say a Suunto watch or similar which are already acceptable if you allow for thier lag. Even if they do have lag thay will have similar lag each time and the benfits will be the same. I'm moving back to the cold it looks like and will be going snowboarding skiing and speed riding anyway, so I'm definately getting some, i'll probably end up using it for jumping as well as I'll be using a hard helmet and its frigging, cold. At the price of an altitrack and with many, many more applications, it may be perfect for you too? I have just made a handicam glove for my gopro. I unscrewed the lens off the waterproof case, cut a 5mm cylinder section from just below the thread of a coke bottle and super glued the glass lens filter to the cylinder to produce a filter. I then adhered the filter to the go pro with some 3M command adhesive I cut into a ring shape for use without the waterproof case, and protect the lens I made a neoprene handicam glove using a pair of broken goggles, 3 beer coolers with some binding tape and some nice lining material. Using the go pro out of the waterproof case lowers is profile substantially, and improves the audio, making the lens filter was key to using this configuration. I have not used it commercially yet but one other at work is, his footage is much crisper than any of the cx100 and Panasonic SD9 footage due to the shitty lenses us skydivers are sold for exorbitant prices. My current glove cost me; AUS$ $350 on a handicam glove $250 for a lens $40 for lens filter $120 for Hype Eye $650 for CX100e = $1410 My go pro cost me $350 and includes a wide angle lens and filter, and an indicator light and my handicam glove cost me $18, and a few hours work. I don't hate America; North America is a beautiful continent as well as every continent on earth. The USA was build on good principals and possess great laws to protect it people ( it people simply do not demand accountability, when they have the right to). America is not the problem, it is corruption that is the problem and corruption has found it way to the upper echelon of not only the USA but most of the countries of the world. Yes there are extremist wankers that do all sorts of crazy shit to people in the name of some sort of belief or cult. These people exist in all realms of the world not just in Afghanistan and Iraq. The USA is leading a war that is supposed to be fighting for less terror and terrorism. The USA is there to lead by example, so you cannot compare the USA to these random extremist groups. The USA is a country and it is backed by its people. You must ask yourself how much of these bombings and extremist attacks would have happened if America had not have invaded they way they did, or if they had simply gone and got the job done covertly rather than announcing to the world that all the bad guys better get ready and go hide in the hills because we're coming to get you.....
