The Vector 2 has lots of velcro. You could argue that velcro should be replaced etc. but too often it is not. The handles are in a fixed position on the Next without the huge length of hard housing floating around everywhere (as seen on the vector 2's with two drogue releases)and the system is much narrower which makes it much less susceptable to snagging handles etc. on the way to the door in tight aircraft such as narrow body 182's etc. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

I agree, I searched and searched for a camera to buy and i ended up with a HC-96. I am very happy with the camera, it has lanc and has a nice wide lens. The Next is reasonably narrow across the top of the reserve container, It looks more like a student rig than a tandem. It was very tight with icarus 364 mains in it and eventualy burst a seam because the stupid packers put an EZ 384 in it. A very comfortable system and much safer than a vector 2. I agree that sigmas are a better system but the origonal sigma is far too wide IMO. the sigma micro however is a different story. I have never seen an eclipse. I have jumped a Next tandem quite a few times. They are a nice looking rig, basicly a vectro 2 copy but with various improvements. There is basicly no velcro, the harness is comfortable and not as wide on the shoulders. The downside was the 3 ring placement (same as vecotr 2) which gives you that head down type position. I would prefer a next over a vector 2 but a sigma anyday. I am jumping strong at the moment but would probably prefer Next over strong but that is a hard decision. I am no Aussie but I am working in Cairns, Australia. This is where the handicam phenomenon began. The instructors at Pauls parachuting wanted a pay rise and Paul told them they can hgave one if it makes him more money. They started doing handicam and the rest is history. Both of the dropzones here offer both Outside camera and handicam. Handicam is not a replacement for outside video. it is simply a cheaper/option. The stiletto is a fine canopy but has less than desirable opening characharistics and is very twitchy due to being heavily elliptical. The crossfire and crossfire2 are great canopies with wonderful opening charachtaristics. If you intend on swooping and/or jumping with video and stills then I highly recommend 'NOT' getting a Siletto. The openings can be damaging to your spine with the extra weight on your head and the recovery arc is much shorter so you have to turn much lower on a stiletto than a crossfire of the same loading. this leaves much less room for error. I have been to the Physio therapist 3 times due to stiletto (spinletto) openings. This was with a heavy top mount camera helmet. Hi, Do any of you guys out there know of friendly dropzones that Have a pilatus Porter or 3? Myself and My partner Leigh will be training for the 2008 world meet (to be held in France), The competition aircraft will be porters so we would like to train from these aircraft. Maybe a camera rating is going a little to far. Recommendations fir the camera flyer to have 500 jumps etc is excessive. 60 jumps is ridiculous. 200 jumps and a bit of common sence is about the best recommendation I have heard of. The T/M is responsable for all on the dive. I was sneaky and jumped with a little over 190 jumps with a tandem, but I had been working very closely and competing in a 4 way scrambles team with the instructor i jumped with. this could be considered a little naughty but sensible. 60 jumps is very naughty and fucking stupid! I just make it part of my start of the day routine to check the focus. I only use beach and ski occasionaly when the sun is directly overhead or the day is overcast. I love the extra width i get from the HC96 though. Especially for handcam. compared to the other staff here at my dz my footage has the customers whole body in the shot, quite rare for handcam. Hey bill check out the poll in the swooping and canopy piloting forum. you may be surprised of the results. And as for your pothole theory, Go on Safari to the Serengeti in Tanzania. Across the Serengeti plain the ruts and potholes are phenomenal. Guess how fast they drive there.... crazy fast. I know the owner of one of the largest safari companies and she tells her drivers to go fast. the guys that drive slow create more damage to the vehicles than the fast drivers. She has well over 50 vehicles (toyota 4x4), she would have done the maths. It is much smoother driving at 100kmph than it is at 50kmph.
