    I couldn't agree with you more. Soon when gas goes to $8 a gallon like the rest of the world, what will happen? lets face it, america was blind to the obvoius. The EV1 could have been in full production by now, Bullet trains and electric busses could have been everywhere and the air could have been relatively clean and the US economy and military could have been strong...... ..instead, recession, dirty air, SUV's, a weak economy and a military dependant on oil that is too expensive.     apart from being skewed and biased tthose statistics are old. Remember the conversation about how long it would take a prius to pay for itself with gas savings? Here is a quote from an articl posted by billvon you can expect Gas to hit $8 per gallon quite soon. That is what most of the world is paying. And it sure isn't going down in price.     Definately buy used for you container and canopies for your first rig. get a nice altimeter, helmet and jumpsuit get a freefly suit because you can use it for most diciplines and they always come in handy. you will only use your first rig for a couple of hundred jumps. be sure to get one that will allow for one canopy downsize. most modern gear is all safe and comfortable, go with what you think looks good and get opinions from there. for a canopy to strat out with I would suggest a safire2.     We are catching a train to Mauberge from paris in two weeks, i'll let you know how easy it is once we have done it, it is only an hour or 2 from what I have been told. Jump tickets are Euro25 ($40) though which is our biggest concern. over 3 x what we are paying here in lodi.     Lodi seems to get a bad wrap? I can't see why, Bill has been a gentalman to us and positive towards us. Rubberbands are free, candy is free, coke is only $0.50 as is water, $1 for icecream and gatorade heaps of loads, 3 twin turbines, free camping and $13-$15 jump tickets. $5 hop n pops. best allround DZ i have been to. Why is the plane shutting down at 3:00 on weekdays due to not enough fun jumpers?? I cant work it out, why would you pay $27 for a ticket in a nearby dropzone if you are not a dedicated swooper? The ones that are doing the killings are using illegal guns that were bought or stolen of legal gun owners! no? all illegal guns were legal at some stage, cut the supply of legal guns and you cut the supply of illegal ones.     Maybe the 2nd ammendment was a mistake in the first place, countries that don't allow hand guns in public and always havn't have less gun crimes due to less availability. The US is kinda fucked in that respect, but what do you do, keep allowing handguns or try to ween them out over a couple of decades?
