  1. Done. This is what I submitted. I would like the Park Service to issue backcountry permits authorizing BASE jumps. BASE jumping should not require Special Use Regulations or Special Use Permits. The process for obtaining a BASE jumping permit should be the same as for obtaining a backcountry hiking permit and should be subject to no more constraints than the backcountry or climbing permits to the same area, with the exception of permissable hours to jump. If the Park Service would actually hold serious conversations with BASE jumpers a solution that provides minimal to no impact to the parks and other users of the parks could be found. The current situation where the Park Service has usurped the authority of Congress and made BASE jumping illegal by refusing to issue the permits they have determined are required, by misinterpreting the intent of the law, should not be allowed to continue.
  2. Congratulations Cheri and Tom!
  3. Jim are you going to be out flying this weekend? assuming the weather cooperates?
  4. Tony thanks for coming down to my level and catching the video.
  5. great pictures. Were you worried taking the first photo? There is a lot of pilot chute visible.
  6. Where were you last weekend? I was flying my prodigy without anyone to flock with. Paul showed up without his wingsuit. It was cool at 10K, but not that bad. I had a great flight towartds the end of the day, got out south of the airport and there was a plane turning into the pattern below and ahead of me on the same heading, by the time I turned into the airport I had caught and passed him. It was really cool to see how much horizontal speed we have. I'll try and make it out saturday.
  7. They are only taking reservations for the package deal. If you don't want the package, they will put you on a wait list. Maybe you can straighten this out with them.
  8. And the Quality Inn is only allowing you to purchase their package which adds another $50 onto their already doubled room rates.
  9. Thanks Jim for putting this on and getting the demo Prodigy suits. I was impressed with the Prodigy suit, I came within 8 mph avg descent rate of my best SF3 jump on the second jump on the Prodigy. I don't think the Prodigy had quite as much forward speed as the SF3, unless you are a little headdown. It was nice to not have to deal with so much doing things up before flight and undoing things after opening while jumping the prodigy, although it did make for warmer rides up to altitude. I think the wing attachment could be easily modified to make sure that back flying does not pop the snaps. All in all a nice suit that I would consider buying, if I could figure out when I would use it instead of the SF3 often enough to justify the cost. I'll probably see you down in Oregon next weekend.
  10. There are still slots available. They just went on sale yesterday. We would really love to have you two there. Maybe we can even talk Jason in to letting you two be the first off the bridge this year. I'm sure the photos would be high quality this time.
  11. Read the label on your charger if it says input 100-240V 50/60HZ (most do now), then all you need is a plug adapter for the country you are going to visit, about $3.
  12. Do a search for "Coleman Blackcat" or "Zodi Tent Heater". The colemans start about $40 and the Zodi starts about $140. It depends on the size of the tent as to whether or not the coleman is safe, you need enough space around it to ensure you don't knock it over, and make sure to allow some ventilation in the tent.
  13. I heard yesterday that my team, Elsinore Vengeance, is on the cover. If its the shot I was shown earlier my leg is just visible. Its a great shot that Joel captured. I want to see the cover, mine probably won't get here till after I leave for nationals.
  14. A legal and technical point BASE jumping in a national park is not illegal, doing it without a permit is. They won't issue permits, with the exception of Bridge Day, so with the exception of bridge day, any jump made is illegal because a permit has not been issued. The NPS has tried to propagate the perception that BASE jumping is illegal, but that is not what the law says, we should not be helping them deny access to our parks. Even their recent relaxation in their position does not go so far as to say that BASE jumping is legal.
  15. I'll be there doing video for my team, Elsinore Vengeance.
  16. I picked mine up at the post office last night, spent an hour trying them on with my rig. Now if the weather would cooperate and at least give us 4000' of clearance to get out and see how they work.
  17. I can't quite tell from the photo, but it looks like you do not have the rapide link through the loop at the end of the kill line. Both the kill line loop and the tape loop should be engaged by the rapide link.
  18. I have jumped my Perigee Pro with a belly mount reserve hooked into the Pro's harness. There are loops on the harness which you can put a set of separable D-rings (they have a two straight bars making a slot and then a cuved bar forming the area you hook the reserve into, they came apart by screws parallel to the straight bars) through and then the lower hooks on the reserve were hooked into the hip rings. We checked that if I deployed the reserve that the attachment points were in location that would keep me upright in my harness. This set up is not 'legal' to jump out of an aircraft in the US, since the harness is not TSO'd.
  19. If the photo is just for the property owner to put up on the wall to show to guests, and if they are a 'good' neighbor (supporting the dropzone, not filing noise complaints) that you fly over all the time, you might want to do it for cost, and call it good neighbor relations. If it is for commercial/professional use, charge them accordingly.
  20. You need to look into a way of protecting your remote plug on the camera. When it gets hit by a riser, your camera will incur lots of damage. I would look into swapping sides for the camera and video, that way the remote plug is on top of the plate behind the video, instead of sticking off the side of the helmet. I'm still working on how to mount a still on my FTP fore max protection and versatility.
  21. I will be there starting Tuesday evening. I have to make sure that I don't stay in 'Camp Cutaway' this year. Amazon Billvon Billy BirdWoman (come join the flock!)
