  1. No, the FARs do not care at what altitude you leave the palne. the USPA has set altitude limits, they are not laws. If the USPA decides you have broken their guidelines they can revoke your membership.

    Fly the Line

I'll order one on Tom's recommendation, if you make it available.
  3. I doubt you can get a base pouch on any of the Tony suits. Look at where your legstraps are and where a leg pouch goes, I think there is a conflict. there might be space, but then the leg pouch would be pretty far up on your butt, almost in the same place as the boc.

    G3-suit. VKB

half the wingspan is where some noticeable effects (approximately 10 percent reduction in induced drag) start occurring at 10 percent of the wingspan (what is that? 7 inches) you would get a 50 percent reduction in induced drag. and remeber that induced drag is a small percentage of the lift. Basically, ground effect is not going to provide much help in landing a wingsuit.

Try doing a search on ground effect lift. You might figure out that you would have to be darn close to the ground to realize any benefit from ground effect. ground effect is a function of airfoil span.
  6. I had a great time this last weekend. If we could get a couple more birds to join us we could fill the porter, I'm sure that we could then have a ten way flock, since I'm sure we wouldn't be able to shake Jim from the formation.
  7. You'll be fine. for the first 24-48 hours after getting home, ice it as much as you can, also keep it elevated and do range of motion exercises. talk to the doctor about how hard you should push it during the first couple of daysn and listen to what is said. don't do like I did, he said spinning on a bike trainer for a few minutes at a time would be good, so on the third day I went out for a 45 minute ride, then the knee swelled up and set me back almost a week before it felt as good as it did after walking out after the surgery.
  8. I'll be there. Will you be there before 3 in the afternoon on saturday? Or will I be all jumped out by the time you drag your tail feathers out to the DZ?
  9. I know how you can get the first $20 towards buying the new suit.
  10. I think this step is incorrect. 4. slave video - effect controls in preview monitor - set opacity to 50% I believe it should be 4. Master video - effect controls in preview monitor - set opacity to 50% I'm using Vegas and if I leave the upper video track at 100% you won't see the second track. you have to let the lower tracks bleed thru the upper track.
  11. I second the "i8t was nice flying with all of you" thought. I really enjoyed the flocks. thanks to Ed and Avery for all the organizing work, Joe and Teresa for hosting the booogie, and Crystal for the demo canopy.
  12. Ray, it is in two weeks, $20 jumps, free beer and BBQ afterwards on Saturday. There is a thread in the events and places to jump forum, the title is "Skydiver Blonde Boogie and BBQ at NWSKYDIVERS in Mt Vernon WA SEPT 8-10th". come on up.
  13. I'm in. I'll be arriving Friday afternoon, if there is jumping available, or in the evening if not. I vote for a keg of Firestone Walker double barrel. how many wingsuits will be there? will the balloon be there? I would love to make a couple of loads from the balloon.
  14. Another vote for Keen's. Three years of jumping in them, toe protection in case of an out landing and free air conditioning. and they are waterprrof, not sure what it means for sandals to be waterproof, but they all have a sticker saying so, my feet still get wet in the rain while wearing them.
  15. I liked the one with no one on top better.

  17. Try Central market in Mill Creek. they have a very nice selection including the Lang Creek brews.
  18. Think about what you are asking. There is really only one thing that will move the pilot chute and that is airflow. It can move the pilot chute away from you or towards you. if its sitting on your back in exactly the right position when you roll it could actually get trapped against you by the ariflow. There is no perfect explanation that will will answer all your questions and give you a warm and fuzzy the safety of about BASE jumping.
  19. Spot, it is incredible to see you on dropzone.com, I hope you stick around the sport and eventually get into producing some skydiving videos. If you want to learn something about video/audio editing listen to what Douglas says. And ask him questions. when I started getting interested in video editing I came across a forum where he had the correct answer to most questions and he explained it in terms most people could understand. I attended one of his workshops on editing with Vegas and it was incredible how much information he passed on and how much of it actaully stayed with me. If he gets into producing films of skydiving I can't wait to see them.
