  1. I have very strong opinions regarding trannys I strongly favor your basic 5-speed, but sort of miss the three-on-the-tree. My daily driver has an automatic, which I tolerate since the car was free (hey, if the price is right it's all good). I have limited experience with paddle shifters, but they appear to work. At significant Mach numbers, the fewer the distractions, the better. As you were. Winsor
  2. Right, only 92% of Republicans favor a male. What the hell, I'd do her. I never thought of you as a Republican. I placed you as a card carrying member of the Curmudgeon Party. You can only register for one set of primaries, and it has always seemed that the Republican garden was in desperate need of weeding. Any party that was truly in line with my way of thinking couldn't get a dog catcher elected, so what the hell. If the Curmudgeon Party should field a candidate, I'm in.

  4. BECAUSE its entertaining! Who did not like the drama of him saying Meghan threw him the hard questions because she was on the rag? Very cringe worthy By voting him up in the polls its like a bunch of hype men surrounding him encouraging him to do more stupid shit for our entertainment. Pouring vodka down a pledges throat so he will get drunk enough to streak through the quad. He will be gone thank god, and hopefully someone less damaging for the country will step up. At this point I would trash all the candidates and ask for a new deck. Jim Webb has a three digit IQ. He's running as a Democrat, but he has as much in common with Nancy Pelosi as Harry Truman did with Che Guevara.
  5. When asked how many American lives would be lost in an invasion of Japan, MacArthur said one million. Of all the generals & admirals in WW II, MacArthur had the best track record on predicting casualties. I have read that this is what convinced Truman to proceed with the A-bombs. Oh, and that the Japanese were truly hated by the US at that time; moreso than just being the enemy. Jerry Baumchen I seem to recall that Churchill, during the Battle of Britain, made reference to how many young men the Germans had lost that day. Halsey reported how many of the "little yellow bastards" they had "splashed" in a given encounter. After witnessing Banzai charges and Kamikaze attacks, the general consensus among the American troops and sailors was "those people are seriously fucked up."
  6. I can't wait for the riots.
  7. Vote Libertarian 2016! Vote E) None of the above
  8. I know, right? He should have just said that Trump won't get elected because he doesn't have a vagina. Are you sure?
  9. It rather amazes me that all these supposedly hetero people are so very concerned with what gay people do. When AIDS came along, I lost interest when the gay community defended their right to engage in high-risk activity. When it first popped up and people got blindsided, fine. When infectious vectors with a lethal disease were turned loose to pass it on, that's where you lost me. I'm personally okay with marrying one person at a time, but that does not seem to work for everyone. I also tend to stick to my own species, but there are those who do not constrain themselves thusly. If it does not cost me anything, it only involves consenting adults, and I am spared the gory details, hey, knock yourselves out. BSBD, Winsor
  10. Why did we drop the bomb? Why does a dog lick his balls? In 1939 the U.S. was roundly sanctimonious about collateral damage. In 1945 we wrote the book on unrepentant elimination of civilian populations by military means. Curtis LeMay's stated intent was to reduce the population of Japan "by half," a goal largely achieved. The appalling death toll at Dresden was due to its housing a large population of refugees. If you want a large body count, the Waffen SS makes going tough - much easier to incinerate orphans and geriatrics. According to Richard Rhodes, the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were either pointless or counterproductive, depending on how charitable one wishes to be. BSBD, Winsor
  11. On God and Santa Claus From P.J. O'Rourke's book Parliament of Whores I have only one firm belief about the American political system, and that is this: God is a Republican and Santa Claus is a Democrat. God is an elderly or, at any rate, middle-aged mate, a stern fellow, patriarchal rather than paternal and a great believer in rules and regulations. He holds men strictly accountable for their actions. He has little apparent concern for the material well-being of the disadvantaged. He is politically connected, socially powerful and holds the mortgage on literally everything in the world. God is difficult. God is unsentimental. It is very hard to get into God's heavenly country club. Santa Claus is another matter. He's cute. He's nonthreatening. He's always cheerful. And he loves animals. He may know who's been naughty and who's been nice, but he never does anything about it. He gives everyone everything they want without thought of a quid pro quo. He works hard for charities, and he's famously generous to the poor. Santa Claus is preferable to God in every way but one: There is no such thing as Santa Claus.
  12. Waste of money and time? It is quite a brilliant business plan. Lots of rich people because of it. The dead people are mostly from the lower classes, so most would designate that an acceptable cost of doing business. Cannon fodder is useless without the odd war.
  13. That shot a hole in the "good guy with a gun" theory. From what we read right here from SC's gun enthusiasts, it would appear that the very fact of owning a gun leads to an inflated sense of the owner's tactical skills. Hold my beer and watch this. Don't worry, 'snot loaded...

  15. Jim Webb is the clear choice.
  16. Sure - Christianity, like anything that fits the definition of 'religion,' is a transmissible form of metal illness. Mental malware, like any pathogen, is subject to mutation along the line. The more virulent strains get all the attention, but those that proliferate without killing the host are the most effective in the long run. The educational system is the most effective vector for a variety of viruses, both biological and psycho-cybernetic. The Jesuit principle of "give me the child until he is seven and I’ll give you the man' is a prime example. If you really want to fuck someone up for life, it is best to start when they are young. The folks in Texas have that figured out. BSBD, Winsor
  17. Freely joined and freely left the Union. There was never any attempt to overthrow the Federal Gov't. this is true. if the northerners hadn't attempted to reinforce Fort Sumter the South would never had had to fire upon it. Fort Sumter was an eviction. Nobody was killed in the process of ending their squatting. The Yankees were told to take their guns and stuff and go home. They fired a salute upon their departure, and an exploding Yankee cannon killed one of their own artillerymen. BSBD, Winsor
  18. Source: http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-trump-mccain-20150718-story.html Seriously? Fuck you, Trump. Fuck you. I might not agree with everything McCain has to say about every topic, but I highly respect the man and what he went through. Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you, Trump. So Trump's a dick. What else is new? McCain is a serious fuckhead. Having Palin as a running mate should be some clue as to his credibility. All expenses paid at the Hanoi Hilton was no bargain, but using the sunroof in an A-4 doesn't make him Audie Murphy. Lyndon Johnson got a Silver Star for being a passenger aboard a B-17 that never got within range of a single Japanese aircraft (the citation was a marvel of creative writing). A DSC for getting shot down is not much better. I have less seething contempt for Trump than I do most of what has crawled from under one rock or another to enter the race for the Oval Office (on either side). Like the Mormon the last time around, at least he knows the difference between black and red ink, and has shown the ability to turn a profit. To come out and say " is an asshole" is kind of a waste of bandwidth. I would think much more of McCain had he stayed out of politics; as it is, he is fair game. The fact that Trump does not treat McCain with kid gloves simply shows that he is true to form. BSBD, Winsor
  19. Mental malware at its finest. At least the Taliban and ISIS haven't cornered the market on superstition-based stupidity.
  20. Okay, it was reasonably clear that the shooters in this case wore badges. I suspect that a car backfired or whatever and every cop then emptied whatever firearm was available. Having a cop as foreman of the Grand Jury is icing on the cake, but I doubt if the outcome would be different if it was a civilian. Anyhow, this seems like a classic case where incompetence on the part of scared and jumpy police makes more sense than does any kind of a grand conspiracy.

  22. You will note that the comment was that the article was "rife with heresies," NOT inaccuracies. There is an observation made by Drill Instructors to the effect "you can think it, but you better not say it..." This is an example of that principle. Dan rather was burned by the Killian documents which were consistent with accounts of GWB's service, but were physically inauthentic. What was overlooked in all the hoopla was that the fundamentals of the documents were accurate enough to imply authenticity. The joke comes to mind about the guy who was schtupping someone on the side. Before going home, he dusts himself with chalk and gargles some beer so that when he confesses to infidelity, his wife checks him over and says "bullshit, you were hanging out with the boys, drinking and shooting pool." Despite questions regarding authorship, there is no small merit to the observations contained in the piece. I have known guys who went to great lengths to avoid being labeled an 'oreo' for working hard to become successful, to include bringing books home in a gym bag and reverting to stereotype (the patois, the DAP, etc.) whenever in the presence of a black audience. There are many completely accurate, dispassionate observations that constitute heresy, and much of the accepted orthodoxy regarding race is verifiable, unadulterated bullshit. Add to that the various conflicts of interest involved, and 'improving race relations' becomes a matter of doing the same thing and expecting different results. I prefer to live in a meritocracy that gives no points to one's ethnicity. I also realize that such a society, like a Democracy, can only work on a limited scale. BSBD, Winsor
  23. You be sayin' "nigger," so you be a racist honkey mofo? As a response to those who get their panties in a wad regarding perceived anti-negro sentiment, I have noticed that the people who have been loathe to visit me when I lived in predominantly nonwhite neighborhoods are those who were quickest to blast anyone who they deemed 'racist.' People that I view as egalitarian are those who don't bat an eye at ethnicity per se, but are perceptive regarding differences in culture, education and status (an M.D. Captain vs. a high school dropout PFC, for example). I reserve the right to rank on deadbeat trailer trash or deadbeat hood rats in the same breath, in the same sense that I will work in the lab alongside PhDs from Bulganistan or Birmingham of any ethnicity. People who bitch the loudest about racism are the most racist themselves, from what I've seen. BSBD, Winsor
