  1. Not quite. There is a huge difference between a group that says that their goal is to have equality and a group that demands special treatment. You are talking about the former, I refer to the latter.
  2. Be that as it may, the moment a group says "We're the same/we're different" in the same breath, you've lost me. Some of the blatantly discriminatory policies of yore do not stand the test of fairness - voting, land ownership, etc.. WASPs did not get the GI Bill of Rights, but neither did Merchant Mariners, who were at least as likely to die due to enemy action as US Navy sailors. I have no sympathy for people who, by choosing to align themselves against a superior force, are effectively hoist with their own petard. The Symbionese Liberation Army, for example, declared war against pretty much everyone else. They lost. After Ferguson, I have taken note of various groups of youngsters walking blithely down the center of the street. If these people were all cited for violation of safety ordinances, there would appear to be a bias of one sort or another, even though the application of the law was uniform (I know, "It's illegal for a rich man to steal a loaf of bread just as it is for a poor man"). I support equal rights and responsibilities, but to most of those bemoaning their fate I call bullshit. BSBD, Winsor
  3. Kinky Friedman smokes Havana cigars in the White House. Not sure what kind of stogies Bill Clinton (and Monica Lewinski) favored.
  4. Reality (n): A crutch for people who can not handle drugs.
  5. Yes. Yes. As a friend of mine from High School put it, "there's only two kinds of people - us and them
  6. Having landed 26' conical and 177 sf 5 cell reserves, I want a nylon overcast when I pull silver. When I cut away my Icarus EXTreme 99, I landed under a Raven II 218. I have never been under reserve thinking "ah, I could have gone a size smaller..." BSBD, Winsor Wow. Your rig can really handle a reserve 2x the size of your main? No sweat. This one is a squareback Racer, 400/400 ci. It works great.

  8. Would that be the same Roger Pielke who wrote: As I have summarized on the Climate Science weblog, humans activities do significantly alter the heat content of the climate system, although, based on the latest understanding, the radiative effect of CO2 has contributed, at most, only about 28% to the human-caused warming up to the present. The other 72% is still a result of human activities! That one? Perhaps his government grant wasn't renewed and he decided to be truthful. Nope. His recent research funded by the National Science Foundation. Maybe YOU could do some fact checking BEFORE posting nonsense. As has been posted before, government grants to the alarmists are far bigger than anything you have posted Facts are getting in your way again He's a denier. He turned me into a newt!
  9. "I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races - that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything." Abraham Lincoln
  10. So there are morons on both sides of the aisle. Your point?
  11. Yeah don't cha just hate those shotings.... all leading to 40's and the free Jordans. "Undocumented shoppers."
  12. Indeed! I hope I get the same multiple-one-warnings kind of latitude as well if/when I get out of line. People! We have gone OFF TOPIC here! I disagree with the suggestions that nonresident aliens be tattooed with bar codes. Requiring them to wear unobtrusive electronic tags, either in a piercing or an ankle bracelet for the unpierced, would do just fine. These tags would be programmed to go into alarm mode when a visa expires, I disagree with your proposal to have the tags explode or ignite violently upon expiration. that is cruel a medium electro-shock should suffice perhaps tie it to various 'invisible fence' networks too. to be proactive I agree that explosives are excessive and unwarranted. When the tracker alarms, giving the Alien a good 48 hours before the toxin is released is plenty of time for them to get to the border and have the device disarmed. If they don't make it in time, well, we'll give them a good Christian burial and they get to stay. BSBD, Winsor

Requiring them to wear unobtrusive electronic tags, either in a piercing or an ankle bracelet for the unpierced, would do just fine. These tags would be programmed to go into alarm mode when a visa expires, and would transmit their GPS coordinates to Homeland Security so they could be gathered up without much fuss. Even the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Aliens) would find this approach humane. As you were.
  14. And if she wins? Watch out for flying pigs. One is advised to pay attention to the odd Hog.
  15. Nah, if that was the case it would be "Mount Zeus," not "Mount Olympus."
  16. Many years ago I took out an inop teevee with a .338 Winchester Magnum. The effects were remarkable - the CRT detonated, and the metal shell was blown out like a ball full of tiny shards of glass. It was a bitch to clean up, but a lot more amusing than I expected. For a tablet, a magnum load of #2s out of a skeet barrel (I'm partial to 10 ga. for overkill) would provide a satisfying level of annihilation. For a single projectile, arranging it so that hydrostatic shock is transferred would get you the most bang for the buck (so to speak). Against paper, a .45 acp and a .460 WM both leave a ~.45 hole. Against a bowling ball, however, the 230 grainer defaces the surface but 500 grains at Mach 2.5+ detonates it, with teeny pieces of Black Beauty all over. For recreational purposes, careful consideration of terminal ballistics makes all the difference. BSBD, Winsor
  17. Getting around autocorrect is tough. Tablet? "Sacred tablets, two bucks a hit."
  18. Wrong. Why can't people see the facetiousness of his comment? I have heard such sentiments voiced in total seriousness all too often. I'm reminded of the cartoon whose caption is "if being a Panda isn't a crime, how come we're behind bars?"

  20. Somehow I doubt that this whole thing will have much effect on HRC. Her SOP consists of behavior for which lesser have been people tarred and feathered, at the very least. When the Clintons first hit Washington, I spent a great deal of time with people with inside information. The picture of HRC that emerged was uniform from both her supporters and her detractors. A verifiable datum is that she instructed the staff at the White House to dress in mufti, since she and her husband found military uniforms "offensive." When veterans went ballistic, the staff went back to Dress Blues without further comment. Even if I came across a stance on her part with which I agreed, I would still loathe her and her ilque. 21. Ford's explanation makes sense. His contention was that we had too much on our plate to screw around with a long, dragged-out back-and-forth process related to what Tricky Dick may or may not have done. Since we simply could not afford the distraction, the most effective approach was to issue a pardon and move on. Though Ford was accused of issuing a pardon as quid pro quo for ascending to the presidency, there is little to suggest that this is the case. William Safire wrote a piece that described Nixon variously as a staunch ally, a bitter foe, a noble statesman and a profane backroom dealmaker. I worked for the sonofabitch (Nixon), and cheered when he stepped down. I nevertheless accept Safire's judgment that, while Nixon fully earned the dislike he engendered, he brought much to the office and did a lot of good. It was a common practice in days of yore for the new king to pardon anyone who may have opposed him previously, once they had sworn fealty, in order to let bygones be bygones and work toward future goals. As an aside, a double pardon by Henry Tudor was given as evidence that Henry, not Richard, had authored the demise of Richard's nephews and blamed Richard. According to Josephine Tey in "The Daughter of Time," the nephews were a threat to Henry's power, but their well-being was pivotal to Richard's hold on the throne. The last time they were seen was before Richard's death. In any event, a blanket pardon has historically been used to put to rest rancor that is counterproductive to progress. It makes sense that this was Ford's purpose, as he stated, BSBD, Winsor
  22. No, we think they are insane based on their actions. There are many religions with ideologies that border on insane when considered rationally. Christianity among them. Religion, by its very nature, is a socially acceptable form of psychosis. I characterize religion as a communicable form of mental malware. Some variants are more virulent than others, but all are dependent on a fundamental susceptibility on the part of the host. Epidemiology and virology are applicable to the delusions we hold dear.
