If you think about it, I'm sure you can figure it out. I don't want to give my home DZ a bad rep. The 'informal mentoring group', as you put it, is the group that isn't out at the DZ on an 'every week at 8' basis, so it's hard to get in jumps with them.

Thanks, hookitt... I guess what threw me off is that almost everyone else at the DZ speeds up at least a little in their track... But if I'm slowing down that means I'm tracking pretty flat, right? So that's good...

I've had a hard time recently finding people to do RW with. I pretty inexperienced and still have a lot to learn, and so the hotshots at my DZ haven't been to excited about jumping with me. So... I end up jumping with this other newbie a lot and neither of us can tell who's doing what wrong. I was really discouraged and starting to wonder if I'd ever get this thing right. Then, yesterday, I jumped with one of the older, more experienced guys at the DZ. We planned the dive and dove the plan... The entire thing! I turned all the points while he just flew steady. It was awesome!

According to my ProTrack, I fall more slowly in my track than in the rest of the jump (RW). Is this a mistake? Is that even possible?

It's in this month's Parachutist in the letters section...

Dave! Our spring breaks are on different weekends! That's sooo stupid!

Finally.. something to rid us of that punk... I was really hoping Dell would find a way to kill him off a while ago...

AFF students and spotting
rocketfeuille replied to rocketfeuille's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
How did AFF students meet their A-license spotting requirements at big DZ's like Skydive AZ, where the pilots spot all the loads with GPS? Being from a small, Cesna DZ, it was easy for me to get my spotting done... -
How long since your last jump!?
rocketfeuille replied to lukepinion's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Weekend before last... and will be jumping tomorrow... accuracy comp at Skydive El Paso. -
well... good, i guess... my roommate seemed to be very popular (if you know what i mean)...
-
I'm not saying that's the way it should be, but that's the way it is where I'm from. I was always interested in skydiving, but the folks at the DZ said I was a wuffo until I jumped.

he does. it's weird.

This is quickly becoming a topical thread... Granted, those topics are forks and stalkers, but, you know... that's not what we're here for...

Speaking of emergency egress, have you guys seen this? http://www.aerialegress.com/index.html

I too enjoy pie. However, I prefer warm cookies and milk.

How high is the bridge?

Do people make jumps off the Fargo tower? Or is it pretty heavily watched?

I hate to contradict the great Billvon, but I have something to say... The painting might have been covered for technical reasons. I've worked with production crews on this kind of thing before, and there are a lot of technical considerations concerning backdrop for televised speeches. They might have covered the painting because it messes with the lighting in the area or washes out the speaker's face. Just something to consider...

Google also has a language translator available. Just click on the 'language tools' link. It's a pretty sweet feature.

I believe you remain a wuffo until you've made a skydive... Even if you plan on skydiving someday... At least, that's how it is around here...
