It could be used, but you would have to do the line mod slider up, and releasing the grommets may not be 1. quick and easy, 2. acessible at all if the slide doens't come all the way down, which is very likey with a line over, and 3. It is unessesarily complicated and a premature release could be very bad. But it does look good. Cya

Damn that sucks. Heal quick you two, if you push hard you will be swooping again in June. (with slide in landings of course) Hey Duane, you still got that torn up Mojo? Cya

Hey Jimmy, Yuri pretty much summed it up. I can't do any better than that. Send more free DVDs though, I am running out of coasters and bad 80's hair metal.

Why some jumpers (me) don't take others (you) seriously.
Treejumps replied to jimmyh's topic in BASE Jumping
Bla bla bla bla bla. You go way for a weekend of jumping and look at all you miss. A word on the pioneering post: Other than Dwain, and the early wingsuiting, there hasn't been too much pioneering in the sport for a long time. Lots of people doing the same stuff that others have been doing for a long time. Its fun to do, and it might be pushing personal limits, but pioneering it isn't. As for a certain someone's second rate rip off of the truly pioneering Cronicles videos, they are just that, rip offs of an original and not nearly as good. I look forward to seeing something original again, someday. Nice to see I didn't miss much though. Keep up the good work. Cya -

*** You are wrong... these are two very different actions. Actually they are 2 very different "RE" actions. In both of the scenarios given the origanal incident (either the reserve popped or daylight jump) are the stimulus. We as humans can chose our reactions to that stimulus, but in any event it is the reaction to the stimulus that tends to cause the biggest backlash. So if you do day jump in (unkowingly) someone elses area, and it gets noticed, thats the stimulus. You can't change that, as it has happened. Now you have several ways to address it (the reaction). 1. Call and apolagize and make it right. Buy the guys a beer and maybe go make a jump with them. 2. Go talk to the media, release some video, and while your at it tell everyone that your Mr Base and that you will do what ever you want where ever you want. Same event (stimulus) very different reaction. -

I'll take the bait for the debate and make this very simple. If you act like a bunch of punk ass kids (with giant attitudes), you get treated as such. Act like adults, and get treated as adults. One of the things I liked about base when I started was that it was a serious sport practiced by serious people (who seriously party). A 14 year old attitude toward the sport (as if it was skate boarding) detracts from everything one does, and yes, will never get the benefit of the doubt that someone else doing nearly the exact same thing will because of it. You can't begin to talk about ethics when you hang out with and teach base to a minor. It also speaks very loudly about your maturity level that a 35 year old man could actually "hang out" with a teenage girl at all. You talking about ethics makes one wait for a punch line. -
Is that the same Jeff Gladism from Skydiving Mag?

Good on you Brandy. I don't know what this guy's problem is. Maybe he has problem with women's (your) authority. Smart base jumpers since the begining of the sport have restricted access to BASE by not selling gear to wahoos. Anyone who has a problem with that is the problem and doesn't get it. Congrats to you.

That was awesome to watch. Love your work.

Felix Baumgartner chats with press before fleeing police
Treejumps replied to outrager's topic in BASE Jumping
I think he is 4'2". Mostly I am making an unscientific correlation between his tiny stature and massive need for attention. Clearly being taller does not make one nicer . I'm pretty bored with media whores who jump only for the attention. Its no wonder that base has such a bad public image. If the public impression of a base jumper was of the super stealty jumper who is quietly out there making jumps for his or her own pleasure, we would probably have a few more legal objects, or at least a few more legal events in the US. -

They really should put Felix on a box or something for his phot shoots. Its looks pretty funny with all the camera guys bending down and leaning over to get a shot of him. I can can't help but wonder if Felix had ever hit his growth spurt, would he be so ego driven and need so much attention. If anyone knows Felix, tell him to try http://www.parmalab.com With a little Rx help he could jump stable and not have to do fake bandit jumps to get people to notice him. Lets take up a collection. Spend some dough so Felix can grow. Your local jumpers and objects will thank you. -
Felix Baumgartner chats with press before fleeing police

If nothing else, Felix has shown that despite hudreds of jumps and full sponsorhip, he still can't throw a simple flip and pull stable. I think it must be harder for tiny elfs to remain stable in freefall. Thats pretty funny though, getting permits and then acting as if it were a bandit jump. I think that stopping to talk to the media took away from the authenticity of the "bandit" nature of jumping. I'll give this jump a 7 on the Felix scale, since he didn't actually burn anything. -
MILES D - TWIN FALLS PERSON OF THE YEAR!
Treejumps replied to ClifHuckstable's topic in BASE Jumping
*** "I'm pumping up Miles again" Seems like pumping is the operative word here. You girls have fun doing whatever it is you do together. Here's to Miles, the richest man in all of Twin Falls. Merry christmas movie house. -

Fatalities, leaving a jumper behind, and the Pact.
Treejumps replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Archive
That sums it pretty well Jason. If you don't base jump, this really is not something you need to worry about, and those who do probably really don't care about your armchair quarterback opinion on the subject. FWIIW, I had a feeling this was a hoax a couple days ago. It just didn't add up. Gut feelings are often right. Cya. -
Anyone know Miss District of Columbia Shannon Schambeau? She apaprently won the prelim of Miss America, and claims to be "certified skydiver" what ever that means. Is she licensed, or a piece of tandem baggage? Anyone know anything? That would be pretty funny if she was claiming to be a skydiver with 1 tandem.

I find that if you wrap the bridle around their ankles and push them off, the ones who live tend to make pretty good jumpers and aren't scared of going stowed for the 2nd. The others...... I once put a guy off an A for his second jump. I should have known better because on his first (from 800) he went stright over and pitched on his back) From 400', hand held he exits clean only to roll the windows up twice and put a complete wrap of bridle around his arm. I thought for sure he was dead. He looked at the wrap and threw immediately, as if his hand was on fire. After pulling him completely on his side it cleared and he had one of the hardest looking openings I've seen, but it was on heading.

My comments: With nearly 10 years and 2500 sport parachute jumps I am very disappointed that I must leave my home country and spend thousands of dollars overseas to make sport cliff jumps (BASE). My money is better spent here, and it is safer to not travel outside the US. As a whitewater kayaker and rock climber, I am used to dealing with access issues to enjoy my chosen recreational activities. I would appreciate the opportunity to persue sport cliff jumping in the finest areas of our beautiful parks under ideal conditions and without worries over legal issues. My request: I want BASE jumping and other forms of parachuting recognized as appropriate park uses without Special Use Regulations or Special Use Permits.

Congrats on parenthood you two. Now the real fun starts.
