Did we ever figure out what this "radio" business was all about? In NORJAK, Himmy mentions this two-way radio conversation. Did Tina sneak a radio on board with the crew meals? In one of those it says that Tina asked the hijacker if she could get these items and mentioned a radio...but perhaps that is a misinterpretation? We never have Cooper asking for a radio so perhaps she didn't actually mention the radio to Cooper when she asked permission to go get the other stuff and while she was out there they handed her a radio with the meals? I'm not sure how to make heads or tails of this. Thoughts?

Found this clever cartoon today while going through some archives online. Chicago Tribune 1972.

I believe it to be Allen "Crazy Al" Cooper. Only photos I could find of him from the time period and his face is partially blocked. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/abqjournal/name/allen-cooper-obituary?id=36283698

I'm joking that she is the original "he look like a man" lady.
-
It's Nancy House.
-
anyone remember the old MAD-TV skit of the Asian lady who could only ever say "he look like a man" when trying to describe someone? I swear I hear that woman's voice saying "He...look like a man" every time I'm reading witness descriptions.

Found a good high quality scan of at least 2 of the pages of the LA Tabloid spread.

Vordahl was a dead end. Maybe someone else is looking into him now, I'm not sure. I've not compared notes with the other guys looking into the titanium stuff, so I don't know who they are looking at.

a bit too old to be jumping out the back of 727's IMO
-
I don't know much about Vordahl except that he was pretty old in 1971. Bit too old for my tastes.

Well, firstly, I'd say that Cooper didn't reject the emotional Flo, I think she rejected herself by hauling ass to the cockpit! He never got a chance to reject her. Recall Tina asks Flo if she (Tina) should take the note to the cockpit and Flo says no, that she'll do it herself. So she gets up and takes off to the cockpit, not to return until they land. I am intrigued by the fact that Flo changed airlines to Frontier at some point in mid-72. I'm curious to know what drove that. Surely she wasn't fired by Northwest because I doubt she'd have been able to get another stewardess gig if that were the case. Maybe she just didn't like living in Minneapolis and preferred to live in Denver. I think the discussion about the sketches says way more about Tina than Flo. We have 302's where Tina says every single sketch looks like Cooper except for the August 72 "Hoodlum" sketch. Tina even says that the freaking template sketch from the night of the hijacking looks just like Cooper! I don't think Flo was jealous of any attention that Tina got. I mean, did Tina really get the attention at the time? Papers at the time seemed to have just as many pics of Flo than Tina, perhaps even more so. Papers loved that pic of Flo with her hands up. They all seemed to run that one or the one with Tina looking tired brushing her hair away. But after the initial wave of interest with the story, I can't imagine either of them received much public attention. The FBI also seemed to pay equal attention to Flo and Tina and seemed to give them equal weight post-hijacking.

He also perhaps confirms my belief that Cooper was on the older end of the age spectrum.

Well, this guy must have really struck a nerve with Bill and Flo for them to both make such bold proclamations as to say that he's the closest resemblance that they've seen out of hundreds of photos they've been shown.
-
with KK5-1 and this photo I think it's safe to say that Cooper wasn't an attractive man.
-
It was an educated guess at the TIME I made the guess. Did you miss the part where I said you're right i.e. I was wrong on the ID. What the hell is wrong with you?
-
Apparently Flo, Bill, Lab, and Gregory really liked the phony Cooper who scammed Fleming and Newsweek. However, when they were shown the pic of him with his hat off (he was bald) they dismissed it. Nevertheless, they seemed to really like this guy's look.
-
It was an educated guess given Fred Catalano's proclivities toward rabble rousing. He'd have been on the FBI's radar being that he was a leader within the American Nazi Party around that time. However, you're right on this, apparently the Nazi was Fred Francis Catalano. The guy you found apparently ended up in Pennsylvania because that's where he died and also I've found this on him, coming out of Pittsburgh in 1954.
-
Gregory thought this guy looked like Cooper.
-
Yes, they made it to Seattle.

you're not missing anything. More recycled crap. They did miss a redaction (I think) on page 131. Someone with last name "Curtis".

Do I need an affidavit from her stating that she worked at that place? She was living in Amarillo in the late 60's. There's mountains of evidence to that effect. Should I post the half dozen advertisements from her dance studio in Amarillo to prove that point? I knew all of this before I posted that it was her who was robbed in 1968. I'm the only who uncovered that her name was Alyce Gorley, not Alice Garley. Remember? Also, by all means, tell me this big error that you've not corrected. I'm not a prideful old turd and will admit when I've made a mistake. So please, let me know so I can correct it.
-
If this is your round about way of admitting that you were actually wrong on something, trivial as it is, I guess I'll take it. For what it's worth, the older Alyce that you posted is NORJAK Alyce's mother. They shared the same name. When NORJAK Alyce graduated high school in Quanah she seems to have moved to the "big city", which would have been Amarillo. She was apparently an All-State baton twirler of some note (I believe that was a bigger thing in those days) and so she began teaching twirling at a dance studio in 1966. Fun trivia is that she had been to Seattle in her youth in 1962 for the World's Fair.
-
Correct. Using "Dan Cooper" was a clever way on her part of attempting to add some validity to the confession.

49 year old women weren't called "Miss" in 1968. The 21 year old future Mrs. Hancock would have been.
