My grandfather was 1/2 Choctaw (making me 1/8th obviously) and while he looked "white" he still had the jet black hair, olive complexion, and high cheekbones that Gregory pointed out. So I've never discounted the NA angle of the story just because most people referred to Cooper as a white man.

Tried to improve upon Edwards' latest collage where he combined KK5-1 and the photo of the "phony Cooper" that several of the passengers and Flo raved about.

Well, not quite. He says "Fourteen witnesses have left written records of their interactions with the hijacker". He's including NWO employees not just passengers in that count. He's actually wrong on that count anyways. He appears to be counting Almstad and Simmons' post hijacking stories, so I'll stipulate to adding them as well as Mike Cooper. Crew: Scotty, Bill, Andy, Tina, Flo, Alyce PDX: Lynse, Williams Passengers: Mitchell, Lab, Gregory, House, Spreckel, Almstad, Cooper, Simmons. That's 16. He forgot about Hal Williams and I guess never came across Mike Cooper. So I guess as far as witnessing (allegedly) Cooper, you've got 13.

Yes, I agree it's a good idea. I may come up with something on it. Almstad claims to have interacted with Cooper and Tina when he standing in line for the bathroom, making a joke about Thanksgiving dinner being late because they had been in the air so long. You're also correct on the Michael Cooper story. The only other passenger that I'm aware of who claimed to have seen Cooper is Richard Simmons. He told his story on the In Search Of episode. I've timestamped it below. I'm dubious of these claims though. The FBI only ever showed photographs and got sketch suggestions from the "canonical five" passengers, Mitchell, House, Lab, Gregory, and Spreckel. It's my understanding that every passenger was interviewed by the FBI because we have a few 302's of passengers who are like "yeah I didn't see anything. I slept the whole time." I think if Almstad, Simmons, or Mike Cooper had actually seen Cooper then they'd have mentioned it and they probably would have been more involved in the investigation.

Did we ever figure out what this "radio" business was all about? In NORJAK, Himmy mentions this two-way radio conversation. Did Tina sneak a radio on board with the crew meals? In one of those it says that Tina asked the hijacker if she could get these items and mentioned a radio...but perhaps that is a misinterpretation? We never have Cooper asking for a radio so perhaps she didn't actually mention the radio to Cooper when she asked permission to go get the other stuff and while she was out there they handed her a radio with the meals? I'm not sure how to make heads or tails of this. Thoughts?

anyone remember the old MAD-TV skit of the Asian lady who could only ever say "he look like a man" when trying to describe someone? I swear I hear that woman's voice saying "He...look like a man" every time I'm reading witness descriptions.

Vordahl was a dead end. Maybe someone else is looking into him now, I'm not sure. I've not compared notes with the other guys looking into the titanium stuff, so I don't know who they are looking at.

Well, firstly, I'd say that Cooper didn't reject the emotional Flo, I think she rejected herself by hauling ass to the cockpit! He never got a chance to reject her. Recall Tina asks Flo if she (Tina) should take the note to the cockpit and Flo says no, that she'll do it herself. So she gets up and takes off to the cockpit, not to return until they land. I am intrigued by the fact that Flo changed airlines to Frontier at some point in mid-72. I'm curious to know what drove that. Surely she wasn't fired by Northwest because I doubt she'd have been able to get another stewardess gig if that were the case. Maybe she just didn't like living in Minneapolis and preferred to live in Denver. I think the discussion about the sketches says way more about Tina than Flo. We have 302's where Tina says every single sketch looks like Cooper except for the August 72 "Hoodlum" sketch. Tina even says that the freaking template sketch from the night of the hijacking looks just like Cooper! I don't think Flo was jealous of any attention that Tina got. I mean, did Tina really get the attention at the time? Papers at the time seemed to have just as many pics of Flo than Tina, perhaps even more so. Papers loved that pic of Flo with her hands up. They all seemed to run that one or the one with Tina looking tired brushing her hair away. But after the initial wave of interest with the story, I can't imagine either of them received much public attention. The FBI also seemed to pay equal attention to Flo and Tina and seemed to give them equal weight post-hijacking.

Well, this guy must have really struck a nerve with Bill and Flo for them to both make such bold proclamations as to say that he's the closest resemblance that they've seen out of hundreds of photos they've been shown.

Apparently Flo, Bill, Lab, and Gregory really liked the phony Cooper who scammed Fleming and Newsweek. However, when they were shown the pic of him with his hat off (he was bald) they dismissed it. Nevertheless, they seemed to really like this guy's look.

It was an educated guess given Fred Catalano's proclivities toward rabble rousing. He'd have been on the FBI's radar being that he was a leader within the American Nazi Party around that time. However, you're right on this, apparently the Nazi was Fred Francis Catalano. The guy you found apparently ended up in Pennsylvania because that's where he died and also I've found this on him, coming out of Pittsburgh in 1954.
