  1. I guess it does suck when you pack your first mal- and even more if you pack it for someone else, but what everyone said about the element of uncertainty is completely true. I'm curious, though- how many jumps does your friend have, and how good are his packing skills?
  2. 7 soldiers thrown out of our plane for the first time. Also three civillians. 2 hop'n'pops wih the newbies 1 amazing buttslide performed by yours truly (the hot-rod canopy I was flying apparently felt it wasn't getting enough respect from me) Another lesson learned, and a nice swoop on the second pop. 2 sit-fly jumps that could have gone better. and... jump 100!!! which was also the first slovenian hybrid jump ever- a 3-way with my teammate, our club's cameraguy (who was doing his 500th jump) and me as the hanger- I don't think anyone of us expected it to go as well as it went. And to top it off- the worst spot I've ever been on. It was a good weekend.

    The Flag

    Nice car you got there!
  4. Yes, but you didn't have to bomb Berlin for the changes to occur. At least not in '89.
  5. See, now that is worth replying to. Although it was directed at 'us' rather than me. First of all, I personally don't believe America is pure corporate evil. But I believe that if PCE could be measured, your country would rank quite high. Concerning the outcome of this war, read Wendy's post. It was a gamble and it seems that the immediate consequences are mainly good. You have, however, shaken the world order and we can currently only speculate on the possible consequences of this disturbance. As for France, Germany, Russia and all the others; I don't believe that their opposition to the war is purely a moral stance, same as I don't believe for a moment that American reasons for attacking Iraq are completely selfless. (And specifically concerning your comment; shouldn't there also be lots of Americans cheering because you've managed to get all of Saddams WMDs? /sarcasm off) And to Wendy- I believe Paul Wolfowitz said yesterday that Syria is next. I'm really anxious to see what the resons will be and how quickly they'll be adopted by the American public.
  6. Me neither, I was speaking more generally. I just didn't feel like replying to what he wrote, since I feel I've said quite enough on the subject for now. But hey, what do you call a person on that end of the continuum; is it a jingoist or simply a jingo. Or is it just a jing.
  7. A couple has been happily married for twenty years. Their sex life is great, although the husband insists on always making love in the dark. One night, however, the wife decides she's had enough. In the middle of the act, she hits the lightswitch- only to discover that what she had always thought was her husbands huge penis is actually a dildo he's holding in his hand, and that his real member is actually tiny. "What the hell!? Frank- explain this to me right now!!" yells the wife at her husband. "Sure," he replies; "as soon as you explain to me our three children!"
  8. For a minute there, I thought you were making that one up. But it really is in the dictionary! And it definitely has a nice ring to it, especially when apllied to a 'patriotic' American . And Trent...nevermind.
  9. Well, I never claimed it was all about the oil. I do, however, remember a lot of Americans believing this war was mainly about taking Saddam's WMDs from him before he uses/sells them- the same Americans who today believe it's about freeing the Iraqi people. Sound familiar? By the way, please re-read the article I posted. Do a little exploring of your own, if you will. Then tell me if you still believe France and Russia oppose the war only because of their financial interests, while USA fights solely for the greater good of the Iraqis and all mankind..
  10. This may be just the thing for you; I hear that new radio-controlled skydivers are available. The controls have been improved- jumper can be controlled by voice input! These new models are slightly bigger than the original radio-controlled skydiver and come in a variety of shapes, although the common name for them is 'Students'. The suggested method for deploying them is from a normal-sized jump plane, using static line, but regular freefall deployment is also possible (some modifications necessary). The downside is, these new models are only fun the first couple of jumps, and must then be replaced. Even so, the demand is high, so you have to meet certain requirements before you can a fly a 'Student' of your own.

    Vladiball

    Check this thread.
  12. Oh, come on Rhino! That's not fair. Us lefties have no way of replying to such witty and sophisticated comments on world politics!
  13. Don't know...looks like a Parafoil that he's flying- I want one with an elliptical.
  14. Uh. No. "Sorry Officer, I wasn't aware that it was illegal to in your country. I'm sorry, it won't happen again." Somehow I don't think that's going to fly. Actually, it would fly- at least in my country. If your defense can prove that you weren't aware of the law when you broke it- you're free to go.
  15. I'm just guessing here, but most of them probably aren't familiar with that convention...and if you're not aware of a legal rule, you can not be punished for breaking it. At least it works that way with laws. But I agree- it's quite possible that tragic things will continue to happen in this war.
  16. Damn! Four separate threads on the same subject and more or less same things being repeated over and over...This problem is obviously not yet ready for a serious, productive debate. Drug testing may be perceived as an invasion of privacy by some people. Some might see it as a sign of their employer's trust (or lack of it) in them. Others welcome it because they 'have nothing to hide'. But with so many things that can have a bigger effect on a person's performance than occasional drug use, and can not be tested for, drug testing improves your (self)image far more than it improves your safety, despite of what your beliefs are. Damn again! This has all been said before...
  17. First of all- order, twisted as it was, is crumbling. In times like that, you probably feel better with a weapon of your own. Second- their former oppressors are probably still around somewhere- better to be armed in case they meet. Third- a foreign army is about to march into their city, claiming to be their liberator- still, you never know. Fourth- Perhaps they're preparing for the possibility that they won't like the new regime... And I'm sure they have more reasons.
  18. LOL- just what I had in mind.
  19. Well, at least in his case, anyone can tell it's propaganda. Which can't be said for American news agencies and their sources- Goebbels would probably feel right at home in the Bush administration. Still, you gotta hand it to this guy- he'll probably keep talking about their plans working perfectly with US soldiers running around in the background.
  20. Here's another article that exposes what could definitely be one of the real reasons; Compared to some other things found on the net (try Google: 'halliburton carlyle profits' or 'halliburton carlyle war') the tone of this writing is quite mellow- I hope it won't stir 'patriotic emotions' to the point where reason ceases to exist.

    Eyecare????

Actually, I'm aware of that. It's definitely not something you'd want to use constantly (your eyes can get addicted to it, and quite literally at that- I know from first-hand experience). If the spot is no too big and if it bothers you a pharmacist should know how to help. If it gets any bigger, starts irritating your eye or messing up your vision- go see a doctor. Still- do you have any idea what could have caused this?
  22. Allowing for the possibility that French news agencies might be prone to publishing some propaganda of their own to counter the American reports- I'd say that no conclusions just yet is the best thing to do...
