    Eyecare????

How big? What shape? And did you do anything that might have caused it- e.g. slept poorly/not at all (for several consecutive nights), got drunk, got high, stabbed yourself in the eye with a needle... If it's not too serious Visine or similar over-the-counter eyedrops should probably help.
  2. "Smoking gun" WMD site in Iraq turns out to contain pesticide Yet another case of media (and public) jumping to conclusions too soon... Really, the whole thing is becoming laughable.
  3. Dude! It looks like you're going to miss the mattress in that picture! Did you?
  4. We're not, SH is. But it was the US that designated him as the common problem. I wonder who's next in line for that title?
  5. 0:2:1 Beautiful day- and practically noone showed up! We only did two low loads with s/l newbies- it's always fun watching people jump out of an airplane for the very first time. 2 hop'n'pops on the Impulse 150 I flew last weekend 1 surfy landing (This thing is great. Is it a sin to covet your teammate's canopy?) Other than that, no significant achievements. Unless remaining celibate for yet another week counts...
  6. Nice. Although I don't think Marines, or any other soldiers, are exceptional people per se- more likely it's the circumstances that bring out the best in them. Too bad those same circumstances also have a way of bringing out the worst.
  7. Read Bill's post again. Quotations were used, hinting that the term goons was not to be taken literally. Anyway, I fear this thread is just a couple of similar posts away from being deleted. I do admit my starting post did touch a sensitive subject, but, damn, I didn't mean to open another left-right flaming front.

    Futurama

Oh man, the last episode is just friggin' hillarious!! I got it off Kazaa today and it almost brought tears to my eyes. For all you fans- Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles has got to be one of the best episodes yet.
  9. This one's sfw too. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's funny (and photoshopped quite well, too)
  10. That's good. I've a feeling many Americans can get completely caught up in the drama when it gets to POWs/MIAs and their own soldiers dying.
  11. Interesting...I always thought it was Da Vinci who invented the parachute. Although some might claim it was Faust Vrancic from Croatia who did it. Both of them lived more than two centuries earlier than this Frenchman.
  12. Sorry man, that's one of the explanations for this war that I can't accept. Kids were probably suffering when Saddam was still a friend of the US and they continue to suffer throughout the world, yet I don't see grand-scale humanitarian actions being carried out or even planned by USA. Even though the Iraqi civilians might profit from your victory, they are probably very low on the list of reasons for war.
  13. Hi, I have about 20 jumps on a Falcon 215, although my exit weight is about 30lbs less than yours. I don't know how good are your canopy skills, but there's a chance you'll come to hate this canopy because of it's landings, which can be quite brutal, especially if the Falcon you want to buy has a couple of hundred jumps on it (mine has over 1000, but it's borrowed so I'm not complaining). If you have the option, it's probably better to get a zp canopy- you'll have more fun flying and landing it, and it won't be that hard to sell when you have 100 jumps and decide to downsize again.
  14. Just so noone forgets that war boiled down to its essentials is still hell. Reuters seems like a well balanced source. Worth checking out from time to time.

    Zorb

Here's another site with some pictures and a pricelist (click on 'Cenik' - prices are for individuals, pairs, families (!), 10 ticket packages and whole-day packages). Just in case someone wants to try it, but doesn't want to travel all the way to New Zealand. (Slovenia is much closer, really!)

    Denmark

Too late! I'm thinking of taking up base jumping and going to Denmark too.
  17. Okay everyone, you heard the man! From now on, every time you want to share an experience where your main was aerodinamically challenged, use terms like 'jettison' or 'got rid of the damn thing' or 'bonus freefall time'. Oh, say, what if we want to talk about the movie?
  18. ...by a disgruntled guinea pig. Or was it a group of them? Anyway, it's worth checking out just for the banner ad on the first page. Fark Forget it! It's already fixed...you missed it.
  19. Well, my computer's cd tray did not open. Is that a good thing?
  20. Hey Faber, what's this skydiving game on your phone like? I saw that the Nokia 5100, one of the few phones I'd consider replacing my old one with, has it too, but I couldn't find any pictures or descriptions anywhere.
  21. Yes...and I hear several US dropzones have decided to ban the use of German-made Cypres AADs.
  22. Hi, I'm currently flying a borrowed Falcon 215 with well over 1000 jumps on it. It's not the most fun I could be having under canopy (and I'm so more aware of this after trying a 150 zp elliptical this weekend), but it still performs admirably. True, the landings can be hard, but I usually bring it down with front risers and this way it still generates enough lift so that touchdown is like stepping off the sidewalk. [edit]The openings I really can't complain about. I roll the nose lightly and the tail tight, make sure the slider is all the way up and it snivels beautifully. Compared to the 270 student Skymasters I started on, it's a dream. Well, that's my experience with ragged canopies, but anyway, if you really have 50 jumps (as your profile says), Wendy is right- you'll get tired of your canopy a long time before it becomes unusable.
  23. I think you just made my day
  24. I completely forgot about that!
