let's see... 4:1:0 4 ff training dives 1 hop'n'pop on a brand new Impulse 150. Too bad it was borrowed. That baby FLIES! 0 docks performed, due to bad horizontal movement control. Also, no 'action'. I'm going for a record here.

If it helps him control his mind- why not. I think visualization is a great tool for autogenic training as well as other forms of meditation. But I agree it can sound pretty stupid when you try to explain your personal methods to others.

I don't know about your question, but I've slid and almost slipped in mud on a few landings. Luckily, I wasn't barefoot at the time.

Vaguely funny joke about Iraq, and I do mean vaguely

Funniest part imo. -
You were probably not the only one to do this. When I was a kid, my obsession with parachutes was so obvious my father would warn me that I don't have a real canopy and shouldn't jump from high places every time he saw me running around with a bedsheet/plastic car cover/large umbrella...you get the picture

Hmmm, the story's already been removed from the front page and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Let's hope someone was jumping to conclusions too fast.

Not wanting to get into any arguments here, but maybe you/we should wait for some other, slightly less propaganda-oriented sources than FoxNews to report this. Yeah, and if I recall correctly, France promised to help in the event of a biochemical war. Does that mean Americans will suddenly have to change their minds about the French? Not that it would be a novel experience or anything...

Pachelbel's? Or someone else's?

She's 18? I thought she was, like, twelve. And she's right, they do look a bit like teletubbies.

Not sure where to post (heebie jeebies)

I was there once. I was doing s/l and on the ride up I'd just start thinking about how I'm obviously too scared to continue. Jumps 2 through 7 (1st freefall) were the hardest, but I always ended up jumping from the plane instead of riding it down. To get over your fear, I'd suggest warming up with some cool videos that will remind you why you want to learn to skydive and on the ride up you should try talking, or better yet, joking with other jumpers. I think laughter is the best cure for the symptoms you're describing. -
clicky Someone had to do it...and someone obviously did

Cut away immediately and get some sweet freefall. Keep saying "Just a moment!" with increasing panic when it's your turn. Ask him to push you out. Hyperventilate on the way up. Make flapping motions with your arms as you jump. Ask your friend to hold your hand. Keep your eyes shut the whole time. And I'm sure that's not the end of the list.

Have you ever gone low unintentionally?

Not meaning to hijack my own thread, but I've noticed I track best when I'm looking backwards at the person/group I'm tracking away from. I just tuck my chin in (this stiffens the abdominal muscles which is, if I understand tracking, a good thing) and watch the other guy/s between my pointed toes. This way you can a)make sure you are de-arched, since you can't really see your toes if you're arching and b)get a feeling for how flat your track really is- if other people are lower than you, you're probably doing good (better than them, anyway). Of course, you shouldn't forget that the air below you is worth checking out, too. -
Well, being anti-catholic, I take it personally when someone uses *God* in their arguments. Disagreeing with the US foreign policy, I'm a bit offended when someone is supporting it without much solid ground for their beliefs. And since I like the French and the Germans, well, you can imagine how deeply I am hurt by these sudden bashings they're taking from Americans. Also, I don't like it when people use bad grammar, tell jokes in which animals suffer and I definitely don't like pink and purple parachutes that some of the posters here are so proudly displaying in their avatars. I hope Sangiro will take these points into consideration when he rewrites the forum rules.

Now that sounds familiar. One of our cats (non-neutered male- a 'lover and a fighter' sort of cat) has this habit of showing up if I get home really late, demanding that he be let into the house and fed. After I feed him and brush my teeth, I usually open the door for him, since I know he can't stand being in the house for too long, and he usually stands by the door for at least five minutes before (usually) deciding he'll stay inside. Of course he always comes upstairs to my bedroom door twenty minutes later and starts meowing in this really deep, yodelling, I'm-gonna-die-if-you-don't-let-me-out sort of way. I swear the bastard must sense it when I'm on the verge of falling asleep.

I agree. There's no way that plane could fly with a payload like this.

ROFLMAO I love the lip-sync!!

*bump* Interesting results... -
Not fair! I'm certain the leftists could present very good counter-arguments to these people if they used small, almost illegible print as well. As for preventing these "warriors" from crashing the protests- where's Black Bloc when you need them?

12+ soldiers un accounted for.... 4 executed on Al Jazeer TV ..

LOL...it certainly sounds like Bill, alright. But back to the thread; [sour amusement]Holy $#%t, people! Did you really not expect this war of yours to turn ugly? Americans just never cease to amaze me.[/sour amusement] Right, so sorry about your losses. Those soldiers did not deserve to die any more than the Iraqis. But I guess that's the bad thing about wars- people die in them. Oh, and regarding the Geneva convention; I hear there's this place called Guantanamo Bay where it doesn't apply. Perhaps there's a twisted kind of justice about your POWs being treated unethically (absurd as it may be to talk about wartime ethics). Anyway, war sucks. Still; I just made three jumps and the world seems just a little bit better. Later. -
You call that the lighter side? Your pro-war arguments were far less disturbing than this pic! j/k How about: "That is why taking all of your clothes to the cleaners at once is not a good idea" or "Ever had one of those days when you just can't find the right shoes to go with your outfit?" or "You think this is gross? Let me tell you a little secret- it's a THONG, baby!!"
-
My own conclusion; Americans are so silly!

LOL Good one!

I just read a comment that made me think about this subject. I think it happens to a lot of people on at least one jump and I'd like to know if my assumption is correct. So, if it's happened to you- how many jumps did you have at the time and did it happen more than once in your skydiving career. The definition of going low would be, in my opinion, when you look at the altimeter/hear the beeps and think "OH SHIT!!!!". To me it happened around jump 50, but I was actually still quite high (around 2400' or something). It was the PC hesitation that really sped up my heartbeat- I was open at 1200' which was more than enough for the lesson to sink way deep in. -
Been there, done that. I second the sucker comment .
