  1. As has been said above... plus there are a couple of other recirculating tunnels - AeroKart is a recirculating flow also. Our tunnel in Bedford is by far the best though and the only tunnel that will have cooling integrated (check our site for pics) As it was requested.... here is a diagram of the Skyventure planned recirculating facilities (although none of these have been made to date)
  2. Simply speaking.... cold air has more lift than hot air... I would think of it as good practice when you have to arch / work harder to get down / or catch more air on hot days to get up Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  3. Ahh, I see.... In that case, for sure they are not filtered.... and it wouldnt be nice to have a sandstorm under the tunnel when you are flying! The air speed at intake is substantially lower than the flight chamber of course (only a few mph) so particles would probably need to be in the air to start with.... 4. Generally, most facilities the answer would be no.... However, small projectiles that would hurt (ie hard metal coins etc) do not have the surface area to be shot at you... and if dropped in the air.... would fall rather than rise. On an under prop system this would be why you cannot take these things in with you, on an over prop system we would just collect the coins at the end of the day and go for beer Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk

    BPA AGM 2005

Well, hows about this for an idea.... If all the DZ.com people meet up in front of our display - I wont have to walk very far? Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  6. To all you peeps wanting to follow our renovation work etc, our new website is online where we will keep you posted with news as it happens..... Please feel free to post feedback!
  7. Generally hotter air also has less lifting capacity .... so its not all down to being porky Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  8. Quite right Tash... the only possible exception would be if a recirculating tunnel had air intakes for cooling (which is a big consideration) if there were intakes and they were not sufficiently filtered you could get wet. In addition to a nicer flyer experience, Better also for the tunnels not to get wet! you can save alot of maintenance and issues removing unwanted moisture from all the components.
  9. Depends on your view of expensive lol Joking aside, for a 4-way team sharing the time.... they could be flying for as little as £2 a min or less! so from a comparison to jumps - its quite a cheap way of doing it! As for power consumption, for me it would be great if jumpers held umbrella's and helium ballons in the tunnel - but I guess they wouldnt like it much! (as a flyer neither would I!) As I said, for newbies - looks ideal.... especially if the clothing looks good.... nothing worse than being a beginner and being made to look bad! Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  10. Not sure a total waste.... Not that I personally would want a large suit (in fact that would probably irretate me to death in the tunnel) but for a beginner a larger suit does add a comfort / stability factor. Would recommend any first time flyer wear something bigger - so nice if you can find something that is bigger but in the right places and away from face etc... (rather than just bigger all over)
  11. nice marketing... send me a brochure Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  12. I can assure you its not. In the past, there has been alot of talk / ambition in the UK to open a facility... and its hard to see I suppose until a facility opens whether or not its for real!.... But, as I have mentioned before :- We have ordered our motor (ie we have to pay for it!) We have ordered our propeller (same! - both of these items are being manufactured) We have agreed a lease on the site! - We really are planning to use it! or I'll have the largest tin can in the world if not.... We will be attending the BPA AGM - so hopefully will get the chance to talk face-to-face and show people we are not kidding
  13. Hey, Dont drag me into your bun-fighting Besides, my advice would be to go to a tunnel with enough power to lift you.... (like ours!) lol
  14. Something to do with protest and complaints every time tax increases are made Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  15. Last time I was sitflying in Orlando - there wasnt enough ooopmh to get me off the net much (unless I used alot more back than my normal sky sit position) Found it frustrating a little - but thats what I get for eating too many cakes and chocolate Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  16. I have been tending more towards tunnel than sky... For me its all about the freefall time - and 50 secs just isnt enough! Only reason I wouldnt give up the sky altogether is the space restriction... Track etc etc But as I could spend hours at a time (forget the pain!) a tunnel has alot of attraction. At present I am putting in enough jumps to stay current. I think they should make breathable altitude higher Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  17. I can follow your reasoning, and being not an overly emotional type - probably have similar views.... However, I hope you take my lead and never apply for a job as a grief counsellor ! Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  18. I think that the parents are looking for someone to blame due to their distress / loss... after all, would they sue walmart if she had took a paracetamol overdose? - Same outcome. On the flip side - it is a little stupid that once someone has been declared mentally unstable they are allowed to buy weapons. I dont think confidentiality would be an issue by adding people to a 'not allowed to buy a gun' list Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  19. Whereas I take the time out to celebrate a fat guy in a red suit sponsored by Coca-cola... Ohh yeah, and eat the turkey and chocolate! Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  20. In every facility I have flown, you normally have option to wear your regular clothes. And I have never purchased a 'tunnel only' suit.... Depends on the facility I guess.
  21. We are going... Looking forward to it.
  22. Having lived in both the US and the UK, I would have to say that my general perception is that Americans tend to be more nationalistic that Europeans.... More flag wavers etc, which in turn could add to the perception of 'we are best' Not saying that national pride doesnt exist everywhere - but it sure is strong in the US. Easy comparison.... Go for a drive, see how many flags you see on cars / buildings, do the same anywhere else... TADA - a numerical comparison Personally, I think both Europe and the US has alot of Pro's and Cons Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  23. Just for all you UK skydivers.... We will be attending the BPA AGM - so you can check out the progress / discuss / just say hello then.
  24. It will say 'n new messages' next to the messages link when you go into the forums page..... Then you'll know.
  25. In a recirculating tunnel its not heating thats needed... but cooling! The heat input from over 1000HP will cause significant temp rise.... so with the right cooling, a comfortable temp can be achieved. Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
