I wouldn't get into all that conspiracy theory nonsense, but I do think the feds are just being opportunistic. I'm sure they're more interested in the ability to access millions of iphones than they are in the 6 months of data that may or may not be on this phone. no problem, it was my fault for mixing up the details and making it more confusing to begin with. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

No, icloud is it's own independent service. You use your appleID and password to access it from any computer or device. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

I'll try this again - if I miss something I'm sure Jakee will point it out. There are two different passwords, one used to unlock the iphone and one to access the icloud server. Changing the icloud server password only gave them access to the backed-up data on the server. Unfortunately the phone hadn't been backed-up in the 6 months prior to the attack, therefore the FBI believes there is 6 months of new data on the phone that never made it to the icloud server - and- never will, so they have to get it from the phone itself. Nobody has the password to the iphone to unlock it, and nobody can change it like they did with the icloud server password, so they need Apple to create a backdoor. But what if it could bring her son back? What if her son was merely a hostage - what would she say then? At first i was gung-ho against the backdoor, but given that apple would just hand over data about the presumed innocent anyway, who cares? This encryption - for the most part - is only protecting people from potential identity theft ...we already have protection against that. If maybe the bill gave a woman the right to have an alleged father's DNA tested, then perhaps this could be a war against deadbeat dads? Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour -
I remember when Apple used to be somewhat necessary, particularly in the creative media community. They had a good product and those that saw the value brought that company back to life with their loyalty. I was a "loyal" customer, but got fed up with the spinning wheel of death and all their overpriced bullshit that essentially put a premium on incompatibility with all the other shit that I owned. Now I can build a custom PC for half the price with twice the performance of a mac pro and it plays nicely with all my other devices/software - and last year I finally got rid of my iphone - the last piece of jewelry tying me to that abusive relationship. If it wasn't for the intel mac, apple computers would be extinct. They're gonna have to come to a similar compromise with regard to compatibility and price of their other devices if they want to stay alive - loyalty can only take so much abuse. Term: "iCloud" Definition: A "service" pushed by Apple to put your all your personal information on Apple's servers where the Feds can access them easier. Well at least it's safe from the bad guys. . . Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

What doesn't make sense? Cloud storage isn't intrinsically linked to any single device. Access to the cloud does not automatically give you access to the phone, and access to the phone does not automatically give you access to the cloud. They are two different things. That's why they've been able to search what is already on the cloud even though they can't access what is inside the phone. My bad - after reading the article again, it was the Apple ID that was changed. I read it as if the actual password to the phone had been changed and subsequently prevented the backup. Well, it's not the password to the phone itself. It's the password for the phone to cloud backup (I think). That doesn't make any sense. The problem is that the FBI doesn't have the password and asked Apple to create a backdoor to the iphone allowing them to try millions of passwords without the phone erasing the data after 10 failed attempts. Apple says no, we're not going to make a backdoor - that'll put millions of our costumers at risk, so how about you just leave the phone on and maybe it'll auto backup to our servers. If it does, we'll give you the backed-up data. The implication is that Apple doesn't need a password to access data that's backed up on their servers. If they had the password, they could just get the data from the phone, rather than asking apple for the backed-up data. If there was any information on Apple's servers in the first place, they would've handed it over already. Edited for clarity Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

Apple said they would turn over any information on their cloud server, so they suggested that the FBI leave it on and let it automatically backup to icloud - ufortunately, the password was changed preventing the autobackup if it was even enabled to begin with. If we find the guy who changed the password, we could waterboard him and find out how he did it and why - problem solved. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

I don't know about that. Someone acting like a dickhead after losing is much more bearable than someone acting lick a dickhead after winning. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour -
It seems like the more to the left one becomes, the worse the pejoratives get. Alinsky would be proud of them I was thinking funjumper or amazon. ...faketriot is right up there with republitards and copsuckers. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour

figuratively of course, otherwise I'd be no better than the pope. ...and we certainly don't need trump giving the place a bad name. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour -

The pope, like trump, is full of shit. It's amazing how people treat these guys as if they are gods. To hell with both of them. Never was there an answer....not without listening, without seeing - Gilmour -

And if Sanders is elected, and it is Sanders versus Trump? Democrates 3. term? I think the choice is rather simple. If you believe there is hope and that this country has an honest fighting chance, then given the current options, Kasich would be the best man to lead the charge at this point. If you believe there is no hope and sincerely dumbfounded that we still have yet to implode, then the country should enter the comforts of hospice with Sanders facilitating our departure.
