Commonly misused words in dropzone.com forums and rec.skydiving
skydyvr replied to peek's topic in The Bonfire
Even better is "flammable" and "inflammable". They mean the same thing, but I think one of them ought to mean "fireproof". . . =(_8^(1) -
I love those! But this one sounds like flawed reasoning: . . =(_8^(1)

I can't seem to work FF's search engine very well. BUT, a well constructed google search will yield many, many references to the polls. Surely one of the referring sources will be credible enough for you to believe. . . =(_8^(1)

Bill, I totally agree with your appraisal of how the two party-system works, and I'll add on that I think it's a good thing. If one or the other party were to dominate politics and government, we'd have a real mess on our hands. I, as one who leans to the right, appreciate the tug of war that goes on between liberal and conservative, and I appreciate many of the things liberals have accomplished. I am glad I am not working 60-70 hours a week for bread money, as is what was going on before the turn-of-the-century "liberals" fought for change. Man, I could go on and on, but my point is that I think the system we have is great -- nothing else can produce the most reasonable changes amongst such a diverse population. . . =(_8^(1)

So you both choose to ignore the Freedom Forum polls? Ok . . . If you guys want to wear the heavy duty blinders required to blot out seeing any liberal bias in traditional media, go right ahead. There is no "proof" that can make you see otherwise. So, I will revise my use of the "proof" term to something like "my opinion, supported by millions of small data points and evidence scattered generously accross the American intellectual landscape". . . =(_8^(1)

Guys, My assertion that 90% of journalists are "left of center" and "vote democrat" is based on the famous '92 and '96 Freedom Forum polls revealing that they voted 89% and 92% for Clinton respectively. Saying that 90% are left of center is NOT the same as saying that 90% are liberal; however I will in the future be more careful about what I seem to imply on here. I do believe the admitted political leanings among journalists is more like this: Liberal: 61% Conservative: 15% Other: 24% These figures (or anything like them) are overwhemingly removed from those describing the general populace, and the result still bears my assertion that the liberal slant is moving them out of mainstream focus and toward irellevancy (much like the Democratic Party is doing overall lately ). . . =(_8^(1)

Fact ---> Over 90% of all professional journalists are left of center and vote democrat, including the editors and directors that decide which news to show, how to flavor it, and when to show it. If you would like to defy common sense and believe that the well documented 90% statistic doesn't matter because they all report straight news stories objectively regardless, then go right ahead. But really, because of the 90% disparity, liberal bias in the news used to be the norm back when media outlets were fewer. At one time, it was truly a case of the inmates being in charge of the asylum. But don't despair! You can still get plenty of liberal slant if you choose, just tune into broadcast TV's big three liberals Rather, Brokaw, and Jennings. Or go to any of zillions of liberal websites to get your news -- it's all about choice!

Sure, the LWLM did occasionally mention Lewinsky, but only in pointing out how silly it was to persecute and impeach over a silly little sex scandal. . . =(_8^(1)

If that's really the SN, I'll bet you could get a little more than its worth on E-Bay . . . Kris' logic has a true ring to it . . =(_8^(1)

Prior to the emergence of non-leftwing media, I would have yelled a lot louder . . . but why can't we have mainstream media that brings to light the bad stuff about all political figures, instead of ignoring it in some cases (such as the Broderick rape case)? . . =(_8^(1)

Get rid of that Alti . . . it is both evil and unlucky! . . =(_8^(1)

Yes they, the mainstream liberal media, dredged it up and deployed it right on time in an attempt to trip Arnold. You can bet the LA Times will have it on the front page tomorrow. You know, the LA Times: the paper with two front page stories today about Arnold grabbing boobs and bra straps (mostly from anonymous sources); the paper that never once covered the very credible Clinton/Broderick rape charge. . . =(_8^(1)

The liberal slime machine is right on schedule, dredging up anything they can think of -- or think up -- on the eve of an election they know they are about to lose . . . . . =(_8^(1)

Perhaps a study about parachute landings. He would have to watch and gather data about many landings over some number of days. Example, how many standups, PLFs, injuries, high perforamce vs. normal, how many fouled up landings compared to the wind speed or type of landing, etc. The conclusion could pertain to suggestions for better safety. . . =(_8^(1)

Seeking: Trim, beautiful, well adjusted and financially self-sufficient female age 21-30 for friendship and lots of casual sex; however, must be marriage minded as well. I am: mid-40's alcoholic, short, fat, balding, and have extremely bad breath due to the fact my teeth are rotten because I never brush them. I rarely take showers either, and when I do they are quick so I won't disturb the eco-system around my underarms and genital area. I am almost always in a foul mood unless I'm near passed out drunk, at which time I'm a really fun guy. I have no job or job skills, which is why I require you to help balance that void in my life. Are you the woman of my dreams? Qualified and interested ladies PM me. I will reply on a first come, first serve basis, so please be patient. . . =(_8^(1)
