  1. As usual, Bush came across as bumbling yet very sincere and determined to stick to his guns. He remains a far better choice than 'ole two-faced, blowing in the wind Kerry. . . =(_8^(1)
  2. The phrase "Keystone Cops" comes to mind . . . . . =(_8^(1)
  3. Hey Quade, it's too bad you didn't bother to read the rest of those quotes. You might have understood my point that Bush wasn't alone in "knowing" Hussein was a threat that needed to be removed. The difference with Bush is that he was in a position to actually do something -- and did. I submit that history will look favorably on Bush for taking this action despite the current ferocity of the storm and nay-saying of the usual liberal whiners and Monday morning quarterbacks. I don't have to assume -- I can rely on the very credible testimony of Condie Rice. So far, nobody has released two year old tapes of her saying the exact opposite of what she said before the commission, so I find it easy to believe what she says. You've stated that you are "for" Kerry -- or at least that he will get your vote. Or are you yet another Kerry fan based soley on the fact that he's "not Bush"? . . =(_8^(1)
  4. I agree -- your liberal democratic leaders are a bunch of misguided, lying bastards. Why did Bush listen to them? --- "One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 "If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." - President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998 "Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." - Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998 "He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." - Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb 18, 1998 "[We] urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." - Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998 "Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." - Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998 "Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies." - Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov 10, 1999 "There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies." - Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001 "We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them." - Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002 "We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 "Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 "The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..." - Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002 "I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002 "There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002 "He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do" - Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002 "In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002 "We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002 "Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime.... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction. So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 . . =(_8^(1)
  5. Money aside, GWB does not act like a privileged, arrogant asshole in his private life. Kerry does. . . =(_8^(1)
  6. THIS is true though, so it is correct in saying the USA adopts a pretty slack grasp of human rights in this area.... Call it "slack" if you want, but I think our refusal to ratify the convention is a good thing, because there are already too many forces at work here trying to limit and undermine parental authority. Why get the UN in on the deal? I can't make judgments about a situation where the entire picture isn't clear, but . . . I can envision a case where some handcuffs and a quick trip downtown might be productive. I just don't know if this is such a case. No surprise there, what would you expect a public defender to say . . . give her life without parole? . . =(_8^(1)
  7. I see a Canuck, a Riddler, and an Aggie.
  8. Just because it was "mentioned" doesn't make it so. . . =(_8^(1)
  9. 9 year olds eventually turn into 19 year olds. . . =(_8^(1)
  10. The way you phrase things makes it seem as though you think this event is highly representative of the "Christian church" (whatever that is) overall, which would be incorrect. . . =(_8^(1)
  11. Yeah, Yeah... And...Morgan Fairchild, (whom I've slept with) was flying the F-16 that fired a sidewinder into the "Let's Roll" plane causing it to miss it's intended target..... Hummmmmmm.....! But where was Vince Foster all this time . . . hmmmm??? . . =(_8^(1)
  12. And the winner of the Non Sequitur Award of the Month goes to . . . . . =(_8^(1)
  13. I think both. Yes, I think we as a society have come a long way in matters of racial togetherness, and so the problem would likely "fix itself", but we ain't all the way there yet. I'll bet there is STILL a DZ somewhere in our nation that would actually thrive if it discriminated against blacks. Would you allow it to continue? How about a country club. What if the white kids in a small town wanted to have a private prom, excluding non-whites. Would you support that? Me either, and I would hope the govt would step in and end it. And then, after the govt ended it, I still wouldn't go there knowing the DZO was such a loser. . . =(_8^(1)
  14. Oh, I didn't realize this. I thought he was off of radio entirely. Bummer. Which is different than them being well informed enough or strong willed enough to choose what they expose themselves to wisely. The First Amendment has forever been abridged on public airways, and I say again it's a good thing. . . =(_8^(1)
  15. Ask any southern black person in their fifties or older if "market forces will fix the issue in a more productive way". . . =(_8^(1)
  16. If it weren't for the fact that most kids aren't skilled at making right choices, I'd agree with you, but unfortunately, kids are vulnerable to having their minds stunk up by turds like Stern. That's why we supposedly keep kids from viewing porn, ultra violence, and other material that can impact them emotionally. The public airways are saying goodbye to a rotten human being polluting the minds of kids who don't know any better, and it's a good thing. . . =(_8^(1)
  17. The "What Would Jesus Do" thong even made a humorless old bastard like me break out laughing! . . =(_8^(1)
  18. I agree this "blame game" should now be dropped (go Condee!), but regardless, there have been a lot of changes since 9/11. Implementation of a threat level system, a steady stream of warnings from the feds to the people based on gathered intelligence, beefed up security all around and, love it or love it, the Patriot Act. So who isn't fixing anything? Any more suggestions? Here's an idea -- let's put the UN in charge of Homeland security! . . =(_8^(1)
  19. Don't forget the extremely corrupted "Oil for Food" program, previously led by none other than the UN. Why would anyone wish that BS on the Iraqis again? Giving the UN control over Iraq's recovery would be a huge mistake. . . =(_8^(1)
  20. I am hoping we will be appreciated in the long run, say 3-5 years from now. In the early phase of the occupation, 2 out of 3 Iraqis were glad we did what we did, according a Gallup poll. Don't know what the number is now. . . =(_8^(1)
  21. "Business" Yea, nice summary. If you saw a guy raping a girl in an alley, would you worry about that "business"? . . =(_8^(1)
  22. Why did you put "inhumanity" in quotes? . . =(_8^(1)
  23. Yea, yea . . . that's the ticket! And don't forget to mention how Bush stayed in the classroom full of second graders to use them as a human shield of protection! . . =(_8^(1)
