We could be hit w/a large attack in the US this summer
skydyvr replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
Oh yes he is, and it makes me smile to see you deny the facts so vehemently. Conservatives have a lot of faults, but not once did I ever hear one cry out the childish "Clinton's not MY president" in all eight years of his presidency. . . =(_8^(1) -
We agree there, but that has little to do with a government stepping in to control what people think and say. As I said originally, it's really neat how you think it's ok for people you disagree with to experience censorship, but we all need to accept your views, offensive as some people might find them. Civil unions might be acceptable, but I am totally offended that homosexuals want to force me to recognize the word "marriage" in any context outside it's actual meaning. I also resent being people being labeled "homophobic" when their negative feelings about homosexuality have nothing to do with irrational fear. It's yet another hijacking of the language, like "gay" or whatever. I support you 100% there man, I really do. I agree you have a right to do that, but there are a lot of people who think you are wrong to do that. And to take away their right to express themselves is very wrong. . . =(_8^(1)

A guy down the street from me has a Hummer 2. He drives it back and forth to work everday, day in, day out. Always looks nice and shiny. Sometimes I see him and his wife loading groceries down at the Safeway store. For the life of me, I can't understand why we don't regulate fuel consumption more than we do. There's nothing conservative or liberal about it, just common sense. That guy is eating up a limited resource unnecessarily, and we all pay the price for it. . . =(_8^(1)

Such is the nature of internet forums -- sometimes you can't tell whether it's an honest debate, or just some goober on a fishing expedition. . . =(_8^(1)

That's pretty funny coming from a guy who consistently regurgitates the same old tired themes, over and over and over . . . ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz . . =(_8^(1)

So we should wait and do nothing let the country's culture mature. No, we haven't done that. If it weren't for civil rights breakthroughs, AA, and the efforts of many other organizations and learning institutions, we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are today in terms of racial equality. I believe there was a time for AA. In fact, I agree with Kallend that there is still limited need for AA, but as black people steadily heal and emerge from centuries of abuse, we also need to aim for true equality by getting rid of the special treatment. It's just a matter of doing the right things on all fronts to foster equality in the decades ahead, and I really hope that happens. Racial bigotry is just so stupid. . . =(_8^(1)

I can't believe you think it's a good thing for a nation to deny it's people any negative expression of opinion about homosexuality. What if that same govenment decided it's people couldn't express any positive opinions about homosexuality. Do you believe that kind of policy exists anywhere? Do you really endorse governments that control what people think and say? . . =(_8^(1)

A fair and effective system can only occur when our culture matures to the point that racial differences truly aren't of concern to most people. When diversity in the workplace is truly appreciated, we'll be there. And looking at the progress we've made in the last 50 years, I believe we are on the way. Maybe 50 more years will do it. . . =(_8^(1)

Yea, it's always cool to cut out other people's rights when their opinion differs from yours, ain't it? . . =(_8^(1)

I'll call you whatever you want, but he's just pointing out how silly the whole identification of skin color via country/continent of origin is. We've already heard about this from some of the WHITE "African Americans" around these forums. Really, don't you think it's just silly? Edit: To answer your question, I think 400 years of being beat down by whites might have something to do with the current lag in black prosperity. . . =(_8^(1)

In answer to both your and Kallend's comments, I do think our prison systems are more humane than many if not most other countries, but I still have a pessimistic view of the future of this country and the people in it. More and more, we are becoming a nation of selfish fucktards. I believe the kind of people that are capable of the cruelty exibited in our prisons here and abroad are becoming more numerous, not less. Of course, I blame it all on the liberals, but that's another story. . . =(_8^(1)

Why Do Christians make it so hard to be a Christian?
skydyvr replied to Duckwater's topic in Speakers Corner
Correct. We love to put down those awful christians for having their say, but if it's an easily offended atheist complaining about a manger scene on public property, or a group of gays parading down the street in their pink undies, we won't identify that as an attempt by them to force their ideas down the throats of the citizenry. Instead, let's call it something grand like "the pursuit of civil rights". Blech. . . =(_8^(1) -
I wonder how prison life in the US compares to prison life in other countries, especially Middle Eastern countries. . . =(_8^(1)

No sobbing going on here, just noting things as I see them. I speak of the large number of people who hang out here with abosolutely nothing positive to say about the US, but leave no stone unturned in their quest for reasons to say things negative. This doesn't apply to people who make critisisms, just the ones who've established a record as described above. . . =(_8^(1)

But . . . but . . . it's Americans being abused, what's the problem? This thread most likely generates a "does not compute" brain malfunction in the hordes of America Bashers who hang out here, especially the non-American half. Expect silence from them, save the few who've already crept in to sling a few darts. . . =(_8^(1)

I haven't seen it, but that's the strongest evidence yet that the movie is probably a giant POS. . . =(_8^(1)

U.S. Military Report Draws Iraq, Vietnam Parallel

Uh huh . . . although I'll be voting for GWB, I got a nice laugh out of that line . . . . . =(_8^(1) -
Facts 1 & 2 presented above are extremely factual. Referring to the Titan IV as a missle is totally incorrect. Referring to it as a weapon might be correct within the context of delivering military satellites into space. . . =(_8^(1)

I realize you don't impose your beliefs on others . . . but you still present them as fact, or so it seems. . . =(_8^(1)

Good for you....drive on! All of pajarito's beliefs, he "chooses to believe in". All of Zenister's, "fact". Ok, I think I've got it straight now . . .
