The author had to think long and hard to find a negative on your site, and they weren't the least successful. . . =(_8^(1)

Proximity is a factor, and so is the fact that Castro was and remains a threat to our national security. Our relationships with the other nations you mentioned are complex, and certainly not consistent or even wise, but so far none of them has been a threat. That's the primary difference. When the US invades Venezuela, I'll buy into the dimwitted "it's all about the oil" argument. After all, they're closer and weaker than Iraq, so why not move in? Oh wait -- Venezuela is not a threat to our national security, so maybe that's why we haven't invaded. --- PS: You'd be doing yourself a big favor by losing the racist language. . . =(_8^(1)

Wow, that's a tough one! But maybe you could ask the million or so Cubans who've FLED THE COUNTRY over the last few decades. Some of them might even be willing to share with you their personal stories of grief and horror about the only remaining DICTATOR in the western hemisphere. . . =(_8^(1)

Ya know, this "argument" gets put forth by different folks infrequently, yet I have never been able to grasp it's usefulness. What is the point of your post? There are hundreds of really great posters on here with low jump numbers. Conversely, there are posters on here with lots of jumps that write meaningless posts that in no way contrubute to the thread. Your post here is a great example of that. Please, please, enlight me as to the relevance of jump numbers for anyone conducting political/social talk in Speaker's Corner. Just one little bit of rational explanation would be great. Don't overrate yourself. . . =(_8^(1)

Well, as a "superior" republican, I do plan to "go slumming" and see the movie so I won't sound like such a nincompoop while "yakkng" about it with my "inferior" liberal friends. But I'll tell you right now, I'm am NOT laughing or having a good time in any way during movie. Plus, I'm going to sneak in wearing a ball hat and sunglasses, sit there smugly the whole time, then go home and finish reading Mein Kampf after the movie. So there. --- Edit: PS . . . Keith, can I borrow your sunglasses? . . =(_8^(1)

Religion, who, what and how do you believe/practice

Non-Christians incorrectly stereotype Christians as ignorant, blind followers of dead mythology. That doesn't fit very well with the attributes of a scientist. . . =(_8^(1) -

Where do you get that idea? The Wicca Way encourages self understanding and growth, as well as communal living, healing ourselves and the environment. I don't know much about the Wicca Way; my comment was in response to a single quote: "Be it harm none, do what thou wilst shall be the whole of the law" Yes. . . =(_8^(1) -
No, no, no, George Bush is the Anti-Christ! Well, at least I think he might be. Actually, I've got it narrowed down to Bush, George Soros, Shrek, or Emerill from the Food Network. Within two years, I will have this field narrowed down to the actual Anti-Christ, and will let you know. . . =(_8^(1)

I can understand it too, back then, but this poll is a week old. Has not the administration backed away from the notion that SH was directly tied to 9/11 for the last year? . . =(_8^(1)

LOL, yep. If it continues, do you mind if I just cut and paste your previous posts in as needed? I normally don't have the time, apptitude, or inclination to engage in these mega-arguments. . . =(_8^(1) -
This is religious. Microsoft is obviously the Fifth Horseman described in the Bible's book of Revelation. . . =(_8^(1)

I do. None of my liberal friends will shut up about the guy or the movie. Unlike Kerry, I guess Moore is giving them something interesting to yak about. . . =(_8^(1)

Quoteits not science if you start with a conclusion and look for evidence to support it.Quote Your statement is true, but I don't think every evolution discounter out there is using that model. Different groups can analyze evidence and come up with different results. The question then becomes: who is doing the analysis objectively, and who is not? . . =(_8^(1) -

Only an idiot doesn't take their child to the hospital when needed, so yea, faith is no substitute for science. I'm surely not trying to make that argument. I am one of those hopeful sorts that looks for agreement between faith and science such as the classic example: God said Let There Be Light, and . . . . . . boom bada bing BANG boom . . . there it was! . . =(_8^(1) -
He's black, and he's a hollywood icon. When someone with that combination of credentials speaks the truth, it really is big news. . . =(_8^(1)

Well sure. You wouldn't expect anyone but a "believer" to spend time, money and effort on dicounting evolution, would you? Who else would even have the motivation? . . =(_8^(1) -
Religion, who, what and how do you believe/practice
skydyvr replied to ChileRelleno's topic in Speakers Corner
If that's the case, it's time for religious people to stop going around proclaiming that they DO understand everything, how god set it up, and what we're supposed to do with it. You may be right about some "religious people", but I don't personally know any Christians that claim to "understand everything". In fact, the Bible makes it clear that we do not and are not meant to understand everything (whatever that means). Well, if you admit that you're an imperfect being, and I'm sure you would, then going about your journey through life just having a good 'ole time wouldn't really do anything to improve that situation, would it? In this life, I believe it is more important to learn, grow, etc., all in the seeking of perfection. Not that we can't have fun or make plenty of mistakes along the way, of course, but there has to be more to life than just seeking pleasure. Or not -- we all have that choice. I see nothing in the Bible that tells us not to go out and explore our surroundings. Quite the contrary, the Bible tells us to have dominion of the earth and everything in it. Am I missing something? I know that some churches hold the ideas you mock dear to their hearts, but I don't know where they get them. Genesis has to be pretty narrowly interpreted to maintain the notion that life just can't exist anywhere but here. That's one theory, but the other theory is that God set things up like this so we could learn to love him without the impetus of KNOWING he's here. If you KNEW God existed, and was sitting in an office downtown, you would absolutely do his bidding out of complete and total fear. In other words, you wouldn't make your life choices because they're the right choices, you'd make them out of fear or for other wrong reasons. In the current scenario, you have True Choice. You can do whatever you want, unfettered by your creator breathing down your neck. You will be a good person because you really want to be one, not because God is down the street ready to whack you for being bad. . . =(_8^(1) -
Interesting, thanks for posting it again. It looks like the results depend on how the questions are phrased, directing poll responders about which aspect of the war to consider. The most interesting question to me was: "Do you think Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon?" I can't believe 41% of the populace answered yes to this question just last week. . . =(_8^(1)

Do a google search on "science against evolution" and enlighten yourself to the world of scholars and scientists who question evolution. I am eductated enough not to be speaking from a position of ignorance, thanks. . . =(_8^(1) -

Revelation: Americans support higher taxes for better traffic.
skydyvr replied to AndyMan's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm surprised the number in favor is only 56%. Not sure what your point is, but it's not as if all Americans (or even conservatives) are against taxes at all costs. Who's in favor or against most of the "social ills" you refer to, socialized medical care for example, are pretty much divided along party lines and a matter of public record. . . =(_8^(1) -
Bzzzzzt. Incorrect answer. The correct answer is "Bush Lover". I'm a bush lover, you're a bush lover. Hell, even Clinton is a bush lover. (Both Hil asnd Bill) . . =(_8^(1)

What would it take for Hillary to dump Bill Clinton?
skydyvr replied to rickjump1's topic in Speakers Corner
She dumped him years ago. Oh . . . you meant publically . . . the minute Hilary can gain more politically from a divorce than by remaining "together", they'll split. But since divorce is still frowned upon in this country, it might never happen. . . =(_8^(1)
