Techie Question...calling all you Computer Geeks!!
meridianjumper replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in The Bonfire
Don't call Dell or anyone like that. They would have you insert your system "fix" disk and that will solve the problem. LOL! That is an excuse they give folks when they do not know how to fix the problem. I am a computer tech and I have to deal with folks that bring in PC's that Dell has formatted. Those guys are good for my business. GO DELL! Blue Skies, Jeremy -
Thanks. I guess we will just wait for a little while longer. I just thought it was kind of odd that communication with them was great before the sale, but after payment.....No talking. Just a little odd. Thanks anyway. Blue Skies, Jeremy

Does anyone know if Kurupee has gone out of business or if they are out for a while? My g/f made an order about 3 weeks ago. We both have e-mailed and no reply after they got payment. I tried to call the other day and I got an answering machine. I left a message and all the contact info. I tried back the next morning and it said that their voicemail box was full. Any ideas? Has anyone ever had problems with these folks before? Blue Skies, Jeremy

The part that could be slowing you down is the distance between you and the main connection. Are you far from your main telephone HUB? Do you have any kind of spyware, adware or virus that might be hogging up your bandwidth? Something to think about. You can scan with Spybot or Ad-Aware Blue Skies, Jeremy

No, that is not the same lady. The lady who made her AFF at Skydive Alabama with us was a LOT shorter and not as flabby as that lady. Blue Skies, Jeremy

Latest MyDoom Outbreak Spreading, Deletes Files
meridianjumper replied to PhillyKev's topic in The Bonfire
I am a computer tech for a company here in Meridian, MS. I have seen one bad case of Mydoom.f so far in my shop. It had gone in and deleted files in the "My Documents" folder. From all my research on this virus, it cannot be repaired without causing damage to the files that it infects. I really hate to tell clients that they lost files due to something like that. It makes me feel like a doctor going up to the next of kin and saying, "I am truely sorry, but we lost them." Only because I am user also is why I feel that way. I treat peoples data like it is very important. Unlike the way Dell does to fix a problem. I love it when I hear walk-ins bring in their computers and say, "The guy at Dell said to put the System Restore Disk in the CD drive and follow the directions and that will take care of all your problems." GEEZ!! Come on! Anywho, it is very important to back up your data to something that is not attached to your computer, like a CD or ZIP drive. Heck, if you still use them, 3.5" disks work too. Just learn from the people who have lost all their data and do not have a backup when they need it most. Just a few mins of your time once a week and you will not have to lose sleep over lost data. Just my two cents. Be careful out there guys! Blue Skies, Jeremy -
You GOTTA REMEMBER TO PUT "NSFW" IN THE SUBJECT LINE. Folks with normal jobs who might get into trouble looking at porn at work could be browsing the forum. But for folks like me, who deal with this stuff everyday at work, there is no problem.

Hmm, me thinks I hear the slow clicking of a fishing pole. Could someone be trolling? Blue Skies, Jeremy
