  1. Hey Denise, I'm so sorry about all that. You're in my thoughts and if you need to talk your heart out, send me a PM and I'll call you. Hang in there, it will all be OK. Nadine (The Hanger from Eloy X-Mas)
  2. Well it's not exactly designed to misfire, but apparently it does anyway... So there you go.
  3. This is getting rediculous. You're either trolling, or really need to talk to someone experienced on the matter. An AAD is your last line of defence if EVERYTHING goes wrong, so you should'nt exaclty be depending on it to save you, rather depend on yourself first! If it's not turning on, it would be stupid to assume that it is activated. Listen to and try to understand what Ron said, he's making much more sense than you have been. An activation in the door/in the plane/in freefall actually has potential to kill you and OTHERS, whereas a brick in your container doesn't. Neither will save you, but that's far from the issue here. Take the airbag example. If it misfires without an accident, it probably will create one. If you never have an accident, you may just as well have had a blanket in there, but the airbag never posed a danger to you. Nadine
  4. Patrick and Sascha were under Velocity 96 Flirre on Velo 103 Tobi, Bastian and Henny under Velo 90 Soenke under VX 87 Heiko under Velo 79 I think Cathy was under a Xaos27 71 or 72 The first 3 should be obvious. @pinkskyvan when will the official scoresheets be posted and the site updated etc.? cya Nadine
  5. I'm not really sure were I am unfairly critisizing anything. What you replied to is a fact that happened about a meter away from where I was standing. And the rig hadn't gone swimming, it just got wet, an it hadn't been lying there all that long either. Besides, 15 minutes to 15 feet is more than any swooper will need (under normal pond or competition conditions). 15 or even 7 minutes is a LONG time to get someone out of the water unless you have really bad organization (which of course some do but hopefully most don't). I remember Vigil claiming it was water proof or resistant when it was first marketed and spamming newsgroup readers. Seems they took that back. But firing because it's damp is seriously rediculous. I hope it does become stable at some point, but until then it's a terrible option IMHO. But everyone is responsible for their equipment and safety, so if you can live with the misfire cases and all that, good for you to be supporting something new. For myself, I am going for something that has a proven low (by far) malfunction rate if any at all. But as someone else said the credibilty of sales people and some others leaves a lot of doubt. Happy to spread rumours about their competitors, but calling things people saw with their own 2 eyes rumours is seriously weird. That is what I would call unfair! Nadine
  6. Was it your canopy Tobi was jumping? He made 9th place as far as I can remember. I left my score sheet lying there, but as best I can remeber the results were: 1 Jeffro Provanzano - USA 2 JC Colclasure - USA 3 Luigi Cani - Brazil 4 Soenke Jacobshagen - Germany 5 ? 6 ? 7 Sami Lehtinen - Finland 7 ? 9 Tobi Scherrinsky - Germany 10 Cathy Bouette - France 11 ? 12 Henny Wiggers - Netherlands 13 ? 14 Patrick Barton - Germany 14 Sascha Wawro - Germany 16 ? 17 ? 18 ? 19 ? 20 ? 21 Bastian Steubing - Germany 22 ? 23 ? 24 Heiko Boeger - Germany 24 one of the Dutch boys I think Martin (Netherlands) and Wuzi (Austria) were in the top 10 as well. Maybe Pablo (Columbia), too. And Olaf "Flirre" (Germany) was in the to 13. I made a bit over 1000 photos of the comp, when I put a selection online, I will post the link :) cya Nadine edit: updated the list :)
  7. If you get a Cypres 1 wet, I doubt it will fire on it's own like the Vigil, when the rig has been lying on the ground for 10 minutes, or worse if you're on the next load up or in the air. The owner of the rig said somehting to the effect of "Well that was supposed to be water resistant, what a load of crap" The Cypres 1 doesn't claim it will be ok after getting wet, and so you know you should send it in then. But a Vigil claims otherwise at least in the case of that and some other units. After what I saw, it seems to me that jumping without an AAD is safer than jumping with a Vigil. But you know, if 72 out of 75 original BirdMen didn't die trying out something new, there probably wouldn't be that many bird people flying safely now. Each to their own. cya Nadine
  8. In the manual I have, it says to close the left flap then the right. Everyone I know with smaller Javelins and pull-outs (including me) packs it the other way around, so the line can't get stuck in the flaps if it has moved around for whatever reason. That was the reason for my hard pull. Since I switched the order like all the others, I never had any problems again. Try to find someone with a Javelin and pull-out to show you.
  9. Last weekend I was standing beside a Vigil-equipped rig that got wet during a swooping competition. All of a sudden the reserve pilot chute comes shooting out all by itself. So no, thank you, that thing is not coming anywhere near my rig (and probably not near anyone's that was there). I wouldn't want something in my rig that is more threatening to my safety than it is guarding it. Better safe than not there to be sorry. Nadine
  10. Rosa you kick ass. I still can't believe that was only your 4th tracking dive. I tell ya, this girl has talent
  11. I'd been saving up bigtime for xmas, and jumping in Germany costs almost twice as much, so I was actually saving while jumping, too Heya Steve, it was very nice meeting and jumping with you, especially the Chaos Load which was an experience in itself
  12. betsy dearest, it was so nice to meet ya
  13. Hey Betsy, thanks for an amazing boogie. I had so much fun and met so many people that I was very sad to say good-bye to. I'm sure I'll be back next year with more friends
  14. Definitely a don't even at the DZ. But who am I to speak, I was running around in neon yellow and black lycra freestyle pants cause they were the only demo pair that fit me
  15. Thanks, that one piece of advice that will now save me some serious tooth-enamel (from jittery teeth)
  16. OK, so I see there won't be any need to drag another pair of shoes with me
  17. Well, what's the dress code, or what is everyone planning to wear. Is it gonna be fancy, or just your usual DZ clothes?
  18. How come Heath's swoops are by far faster than anyone else's, regardless of which goal?
  19. I you're going to Germany, I'd be happy to help you out. Just PM me when it's time. BTW, I will be at the holiday boogie, so you can ask all the questions you have there. Look for the small girl with long curly hair and a black Odyssey with gray and orange in it and the same color FF-pants.
  20. When I started skydiving all I heard was people complaining about reserves, from openings to landings. Well their mistake in not buying a PDR. My experience is that it has a fast but soft opening, and great landing characteristics. It felt almost exactly like a 9-Cell-Zero-P landing. I will definitely never think twice about which reserve to buy.
  21. I am quite small and there's rarely anything that fits me properly, but this baby is like a second skin. The cut-in laterals are amazing. I am definitely sticking with this rig (unless Sunpath makes something even better ;) ). Sunpath service was also great.

This is my first owned canopy, but I demoed a few things before buying it. The minute I was under it, I knew that was it. I just felt very safe under it, for whatever reason. The thing I noticed very early is an unbelievable lift in landing compared to other beginner/intermediate models I'd tried. It's as responsive but as inagressive as I want it to be. If I were to recommend a canopy to a novice with mostly good landings, that would be it.
  23. You'll keep watching parts of it over and over again I was so hyped after watching it, that I started trying to convince the boys to do new crazy things
