  1. Upper winds could be 180 degrees off from the winds under canopy. You want your high pullers up wind of the DZ. That could be one reason.
  2. Tom thank you so much for your post. I see now that I made an error. I read the SB as the pins failed in 2002. It never says when they failed. It only says they were DELIVERED in early 2002. I think this is part of the confusion about this whole mess. Also, I am sure the test as devised is worth something. I just think the instructions may be flawed. I believe that more than one Rigger has done it incorrectly and bent pins that would not have otherwise bent. Then there is the whole "who pays for it" problem. No direction has been given. I think each rig manufacturer should put out whether they are or are not supplying replacement ripcords free of charge. Some gear stores are charging for new handles. If it's a handle that will be replaced free of charge then they need to tell their customers about it. I know things will get sorted out and I'm not bashing CW. I'm just pointing out that there are issues that need to be addressed and I know there are those on here that are in contact with CW about this. I've seen my share of aircraft parts that have been recalled and gone bad. I don't think the skydiving industry has to reinvent the wheel (boy, where have I heard that before) when it comes to recalls. Just look at what aircraft and parts manufacturers there have done. I think they do have a system for handling recalled parts and then modifiy it for the current situation. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  3. Duude......you could slip and fall on those stairs. There's not as much insurance as there is INSIDE the fitness club on the stair machine they are going to work out on. Hope that clears that up.
  4. Yah, so they found these pins in the first half of 2002. Why are they just now coming out with a MSB? Over a year later! And with a test that many have questioned its reliability. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  5. Bwahahahhahaha.......that was funny. You were carrying it out in plain sight so I had to give you some shit. Especially being in uniform I knew I'd get yah good. Course, didn't know who you were until I came up to you. LOL.....the look on your face was priceless. What a blow off! "Yah I can I do it all the time" without making eye contact. LOL......oh man I laughed hard that whole night. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  6. So he's gonna start backsliding and blaming it on everyone else? Already got my white suit too!
  7. Dude! I thought you were in tune with the ways of the world and new all hoaxes when you saw them? Man......
  8. Thank you all. I appreciate it.
  9. I wish I was going to Rantoul. But alas....recent financial developments have put any thought of going on almost permanent hold.
  10. oooooooooooooooo............
  11. It will be. I'm working! Flying the big ol' jet. (OK, some call a 50 seat jet "the short bus" but it's the biggest thing I've flown so far so to those people *cough eeneR*
  12. Prayer for Eric. He's in my thoughts.
  13. [tear] I miss that hat too. Thanks all. Nope, not legal yet. Still too young for most things. But I can skydive.
  14. Maybe the engineers haven't been asked to do a "proper engineering analysis" yet. Maybe getting some people interested in it and asking questions will get the enginners to do it. Which came first? The stick to pull ants out of a ant hole or the engineer to fashion a better stick?
  15. Yah, how many fins DOES it take to make the thing go straight?
  16. Did you expect otherwise? Once you find a 1900 w/o the little horizontals, then I'll ask if the little vertical fins on the stabilizer are a problem. Maybe a 1900A? Hook Ok...after looking through airliners.net I can't find a pic without the horizontal there. No, I don't think it moves and I don't think it can be removed. But, is it closer to the door than the king air horizontal is now? You jump those don't you? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  17. Oh...so I show you up on the strakes so now it's the horizontal. Yah, it's probably close. But I'm thinking that I also saw one that didn't have that horizontal on it. I haven't found a picture of that though.
  18. I think if it has the strakes it wouldn't make a good jumpship. I wouldn't jump it. Hook No strakes! http://www.airliners.net/open.file/381814/M/ Just a centerline fin. I knew they didn't all have them. edit: and another one http://www.airliners.net/open.file/244750/M/ Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  19. King Airs were never designed to fly skydivers. They were just adapted to it. Twin Otters, on the other hand, were origianlly designed with skydiving (paratroopers, smoke jumpers) in mind. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  20. Not all 1900s have them. edited to add: I think......
  21. I think the 1900 would make a decent jump plane given the right circumstances. You need two pilots though. It has a nice T tail and a big cargo door. I'm sure that some lines would need to be painted so that jumpers wouldn't overload the tail. But talking with some former and current 1900 drivers it can really take a lot of tail heaviness. It's an interesting idea. You just need a DZ that can support it or have a really good boogie circuit plan for it. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  22. Yah, but I think that may have been a Twin Otter. It was a big way and the horizontal hit him square in the back pack and drug him down for about 3K feet. Then he rolled off. If I remember the story correctly. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  23. Yeah....but what was your loading/Canopy type verses number of jumps? A Stiletto 170 loaded at 1.25 ish at 350+ jumps is fairly conservative I think. I don't think it's conservative at all. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
