  1. Only 20 need it? What about all the injuries that never get reported? I've seen the results all across the nation. Open your eyes. You have not been around in this sport long enough to have really experienced this yet I think. A year and a half and 300 jumps doesn't lead me to believe that your arguements against this are substantiated. This trend has been developing over the past 12 years. I've been around for 8 of them. I'm not trying to put you down Zenister for not having been in the sport longer but I think you are seriously missing the point to all this. People, who have been in this sport MUCH longer than you, have a wider perspective of events. The "engineers" on this forum that want a thesis printed in Scientific America before backing anything have really missed the boat in humanity. These numbers are real live people who have been let down by this sport. Personal responsibility? Sure, we have to take personal responsibility. But what about the brotherhood of the skydivers? We look out for each other right? Well, there are those that are trying to look out for people who can not look out for themselves yet. We don't have to do this. We are just fucking tired of picking broken bodies off the ground NEEDLESSLY. Why is that hard to comprehend? Why is it acceptable to you to stand by and so "oh well, he fucked up and now he's dead but that's an acceptable fatality rate so don't bother." Well sir, I for one can not sit idle and do nothing about something I see (and many others do see) as clearly apparent. I support Ron in his effort to bring this before the USPA BOD and get them talking about this. No BSR is going to pass during one BOD meeting. I guarantee the debate will rage on for quite some time. But standing by while we collect enough dead bodies is a disgusting arguement. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  2. AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO FAIR BRIAN! You can't call it boobies and then attach of photo like that!!!
  3. Well, it's not an "official" event announcement from the DZ but I'd thought I'd put up something. July 4th is always a fun time at SDC. Home grown (professional) fireworks display. 3 Otters. GREAT cooking by Chef Tim. Not to mention the other ammenities (bathroom add in Parachutist). Canoeing and horseback riding available. Sand lot volleyball and a nice beach on the swimming pond. Been there? You know what you'll be getting. Never been there? Come and check it out. Inexperienced and concerned about being lost in the crowd? Come on out and identify yourself to manifest or just walk out to the RED packing matts and sign on the white board what group you want to be in. The SDC organizers are there for YOU. Not the other way around. They are there to help you have fun and improve as a skydiver. Check it out. DZ phone 1-815-433-0000. Lots of room for camping. Shower house available. 4. Reply: Thanks for your concern about inherent dangers. I think that I will not be able to come to the high rise office that you make me work in as the inherent dangers of this are evident in the attacks of 9/11/2001. More people died in the Twin Towers than EVER have died skydiving. Respectfully, Soon to be fired..... [enter name here]
  5. That's it. BillVon has now opened the door to start the Iran jokes! Course, it's no joke. My uncle sat off the coast of Iran in 1980 during the hostage crisis. It's all very, very real.
  6. Hey, "Riled Up", I suggest you use a different tone. Bill Booth is one of our pioneers and I'm sure he has reasons for doing things he's done. Your last comment was not necessary to getting those answers. I imagine that putting the Collin's Lanyard on Tandem rigs first is because they are jumped more often. I know at Skydive Chicago we can field test things fairly quickly for wear and fit. There might be something that we learn from that experience that will make the OPTION on your rig more effective or last longer or both. But, that's for Bill to answer. Remember, people can't hear the tone of your voice when you type things on the WWW. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

  8. I know that during Winter Expo the reps from RWS were talking about gear and hardware and the legstrap hardware was quite a conversation talking about wear and knurls and sandy regions and stainless steel not having as much "bite" as the ugly non-pollished ones. Just something to ask about. Since I can't see your gear and I'm not a rigger take what I say with a grain of salt. Or sand. Just remembering something I heard from someone who knows more than me. Nothing else. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  9. Ahhh, good point. It's not sandy at the dz but it is very dusty, and I was landing in the plowed student field all week. Also, is it polished stainless steel? Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  10. Exactly, Sand may have caused her webbing to become slick. She is in a sandy climate and if she has tumbled any landings since she has had the rig it may have made it slick. Just something I would ask to have checked out. She is in a sandy region of the US. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

  12. And it ain't pretty to some of us. Hence our call to action for making a WL BSR with an opt out option. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  13. I'm sorry, that's a grip and we'll have to deduct points for that. That's if you want to be a real purist. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

  15. I did order a new RWS Micron with Skyhook. Got it in 8 weeks exactly. I jump a Stilleto 107. And I am fighting the cutaway vibes coming from that southin state near Cuba. Sorry Bill. 16. You are now ready for 10-way competition. I expect to see you at Lake Wales. 10-WAY!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
  17. What's the percentage of younger jumpers getting hurt to the whole number of 20-30 year old jumpers? Then compare that to the number of older jumpers getting hurt to the number of older jumpers still jumping. Don't you think that looking at how many people start jumping and their age group is what we should factor in here to see if the number is significant before saying we should use that as a factor? Just like there are more 182 crashes every year flying jumpers that doesn't mean it is unsafe. There are just more 182s flying jumpers than other jump planes. I would have thought that you would have thought that. Ok, now I'm starting to confuse myself. Chris
  18. John, I don't think anyone said this BSR would say SDC could not continue with the current student training program. I think many (not all) see it as the way to go in canopy training for new jumpers. BUT....not every DZ has this and this is where people are getting hurt. Many of the suggestions here have said there would be an "opt out" program. Well, I happen to think that going through the program at SDC would qualify as that opt out clause. The ISP was supposed to bridge the gap between the old style AFF and take students to their A license under supervision like SDC's AFP program. Yet, the ISP got watered down and I don't hear of many people doing the canopy control training part of it either much. Not saying it doesn't happen. Just saying that I don't think many places teach it like SDC. But just because you feel you had good training doesn't mean everyone is getting that same training. How many student programs have you been involved with other than SDC's? I have been ivolved with many just because of my travels. It's not done the same way as SDC so maybe outside of the SDC environment there are students that would benefit from a WL BSR while they go and get more training. edited to add: Dang, Bill beat me to it.
