  1. Ok, but if i came to you or any experianced mentor and told you my goal to wingsuit of kreg or simular within a year , what would you tell me i should do to prepair for the big one? Is that a unrealistic time frame .... I am just using a year as a gauge.. In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  2. I think it was because of #63 that the Kjerag Pendulator was created What is this device that was created and what does it do? In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  3. Thanks Nickd, I actually learned allot from reading the base fatalities. For one i learned that what i wish to someday be ready to do is what kills experienced base jumpers. I see only one or 2 that got killed on a low object. It seems the ones that get you are the ones that you can really fly...and have the most hang time. I have also learned that this sport is far from skydiving in most ways. just because you have 10,000 plus jumps doesnt mean you can leap of a rock. Its a hole different game with much higher stakes but it seems much more like flying... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  4. Hey Michael, yes it makes perfect sense...thanks for the relpy...yes i rember doing a heli jump and it took a few secounds to get the move on but i still felt in control to a very good degree until that point i felt i had lateral movement... 5. thanks bro...ill take that advise...i am also not good enough to base either..thats why i am asking all the questions.... I just watched a base jump on tv that almost went wrong. It was in pakistan an both guys tumbled on ther backs and rolled over and over but never moved back to the wall.. They wher close but never went back....This is why by seeing this and reading about experianced jumpers hitting the wall i ask the questions... 6. it is called great trango tower in Pakistan.... 10 secounds to impact...Nick and another guy... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  7. hey, there is a base jump almost gone wrong comming up in a fw minutes on national geographic channel 276 on direct TV In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  8. No , i never hit the boardor the tower...but that was always on my mind no matter how good i got. Its like when i skysurf.."i am not very good" but always thinking everything is going to go wrong ... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... 9. hey dexter, thanks for the information and your time.. another question...what is the track to feet achieved per secound....if you have perfect track and 7 secounds of good track, what distance are you from the wall? I see that experianced base jumper are hiitting the wall with off heading openings. But if they where a good distance away from the wall you would have more time to react. I rember thiis tower as a kid we use to jump off in a small resevoir that was about 50 ft. I would always do a gainer and would always move away from the tower...are you saying when you gaiin more speed you can back slide to the wall? and if you could explain the head down thing....thanks In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... 10. "what if" you had an unstable exit....can you explain this....if you are diving out how do you become unstable? iis it not being able to relax or something else....I ask as a kiid i use to high dive and never had a problem knowing direction or where i was going... 11. if you dont mind me asking....what was she doing wrong if she was doing everything right? of all the base list fatalities...this one gives me a case of the wonders.. In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  12. Hey Tom, Glad you joined in. I like your first reply...i was always on that plane of two buckets.. From surfiing to the military...i have lived my life wiith two buckets.... The systems we use are just so complex and chaotic ... are you talking about gear? Is the top gear not always the best choice...? In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... 13. No, I am curious about the "everything goes wrong" and why.... There is always a reason...Ok for instance...not to offend anyone but how hard is it to track away from the wall?? In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  14. Hey all, I was going to ask Tom but i hate to keep bothering him so i put this out to all of you. i enjoy reading the posts in this forum the most. I have never based jumped but have a real desire to get into it. My only desire though would be to birdman off somewhere in Norway or Switerland. Buildings and bridges would be ok but watching you guys fly out from a cliiff and fly all the way to town just is freakin cool. I could do the learning curve ..ie tracking pants and air time, jumps . I figure i would do at least 200 birdman jumps this year before i get to the point of planing to base.i guess what i am getting at is i am a little confused. i see in the fatality list experienced base jumpers going into the wall. I saw that base fatality # 63 did everything right but still went in. Maybe someone can shed some light on this for me. Even reading through the fatality list i still desire the same as if i didnt read but am just absorbing as much information as possible. I am into skysurfing and tracking so i am very familiar with murphy... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  15. it really will take your breath away watching him impact the bridge..... i was amazed they played it on tv..its almost surreal..... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  16. that had to be the most wild strike on video i have ever seen. a real waste of talent for something so stupid...[email] Thats if it was true he was trying to shoot between the wires and rail like some said... the ground and objects always win ..... 17. I was just going to post the same thing..... looks like a good hour of TV... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  18. Thanks Tonto, kris, Tom, Lou and anyone i forgot to mention. I had no idea i would get this much feedback. I really appreciate the input. I agree with renting a classic is the best idea. I know i will be able to drum one up at Deland. Im in Miami but would rather make the drive and do it right. I will only after at least 50 jumps in a week to get current again. It's been a year since my last jump..."family , kids and work" no time. "you know the story" ..well i wake board allot thou... And No i will not be jumping my crossfire 109 on my recurancy jump even know i would not have a problem with that. I did the "build a custom skysurf board" when i was first getting into it and over sharpened the edge too sharp. "Kicked my ass and a few board cutaways from hell". I agree with advice comming from seasoned flyers and thats how i am still walking and talking today. Anyway...Thanks all and blue skies!! In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... 19. Thanks DaGimp, I really appreciate the advice. Thanks..... How would the matter suit or s-fly compair to the birdman suits in ability? Thanks again all...... chris In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  20. sorry , the suit is a skyflyer 1..if that makes any difference.. In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  21. Hey all, I would like to get some input into suit selection. I am looking to birdman when i get current again. The cost though ,to go threw classic, skyflyer and so on is a factor in gettiing into it. I would be curious to know if any of you guys have skippped a suit..i.e...gone strait to say a skyflyer? When i was jumping regularly, i was freeflying and skysurfing and a little camera so i am quite familiar with things that can screw the pooch. I am very confortable in the air and am never in a hurry to learn faster than my ability. I have done allot of tracking dives and would like to get into this. Any comments and advise would be great. I am asking as i can pick up a skyflyer 2 in my size at a great price. "I never see classics" Would like to know if this would be a waist . Thanks all for the time... 22. well ...anyone have anything on whats the story???? In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  23. Yes, i saw this and this is what they are trying to do. The key factors to getting consistant regulars is super fast aircraft. Tandems is key...but that will also require ..super fast aircraft. They need to be better, faster and more organized, than everyone else. I would rather drive from miami to deland to jump than have to spend all day in slow aircraft, wait to get on loads and be at the mercy of circumstances. On the slowest days at deland your still on a super otter. I dont think this could support a full time super otter. Now a blazing kink air conversiion that climbs at 4000 feet per second....well that will draw people and make a tandem experience much more pleasent. I would have to say that the DZ owners need to be aircraft owners. We saw what happened before with leased aircraft. One day there there, and the next there gone. With good advertising, people and a well managed business, this place could be sucessfull. In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  24. any word on aircraft and who is going to be operating it? I would say that to be sucsessfull they need a mullins type king air or a single otter conversion that is super economical...ie 1 engine and can still fly 8 person loads and pay the bills. I would think a caravan is out of the question. They tried that and a otter and could not pay the bills. I hope JC or olav have a good business person to make this actually work. 25. Good idea...... if anyone has any info that would be great...i sent olav a email last week and said it is a slow process... If anyone has any info please leave email contacts if possible.
