Andy, If you want to pick up another helmet (after you buy your first Mindwarp from Lisa) at a lower price from Bonehead, call them about Bone Bonds....you buy Bonds in multiples of $100 and cash them in 6 months later for double the face amount. So, If you want to pick up a Mindwarp with a DBox for a camcorder a couple of hundred bucks should give you a good start on your setup. According to an email I got from them a couple of weeks ago, they aren't going to offer this for very much longer. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Amber, For what your parents wnat a computer for and based on their lack of computer knowledge...strongly consider a Mac. No viruses, no spyware, easy to use, reliable and good customer support. edited to add --->Because Apple makes the hardware, operating system and applications they would use for the most part (web browser, mail application) you can't get the run-around saying...it's the hardware manufacturer's fault, no, it's the OS, no, it's the application....one stop shopping for a problem. If my parents were alive and wanted a computer..that's what I would buy them. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Apple is now offering Applecare for the iPod for $59. Covers the battery, among other things, for two years from date of purchase. Lori, you might be able to buy Applecare for your iPod. I think you can purchase Applecare for a year after purchase. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Hey Amber, Sorry to hear about your computer problems. Whatever you buy next.....back up your important stuff. Small external Firewire/USB2 drive or an iPod would be good. I back up all my digital photos and other stuff I don't want to lose to my iPod. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Have you ever flow your canopy backwards?

One of my fellow oldtimer buddies still jumps a Pegasus....will try and remember to get you some video in the spring. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey -
Scott, I have an intentional cutaway on a SWIFT reserve in about 1984. It landed fine. I recently bought a PD126 for myself but haven't used it. I'm sure it will perform very nicely if the time comes. For resale purposes, I'd suggest the PD. I also think the Aerodyne SMART reserves should be considered...good price and I think they have put together a good product...spanwise reinforcement, reinforcing tapes in the tail. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

About 80-90 seconds. Hercules Boogie 1985 European Record Attempts (50 and 60 way attempts) Exit altitude 17,000 ft Opening altitude...2,000 ft. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Parapack is plenty durable...if you take care of it and don't crash and burn when landing. My venerable old Racer has over 1,000 jumps on it and still looks pretty good. I don't like the looks of most other rigs in Parapack and would buy cordura in other makes. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

It's going to be pretty cold .... -20 C ( -4 F) according to the Weather Network. But that's better than what they have right now... -29 and a -38 wind chill. My old Pegasus did this very well....stall it, hold it and wait for the pilot chute to blow back in front of the canopy. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey -

My iPod hasn't skipped on me when running/walking. It has 32 mb of buffer memory...20-30 minutes which means the hard drive only has to spin up periodically to load more music. I suppose it could happen but I have never seen it as a problem or concern. It's a great device...external Firewire hard drive, syncs addresses and appointments with your computer as well as playing mp3, mp4 (AAC) and Aiff files organized in however many playlists you want. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

I have my Cameye taped to the outside of the helmet from the camera to the button. I drilled a hole near the button and passed the indicator light through it and ran the light under the padding to the front of the helmet. I have the indicator light sticking out about 1 1/2 inches from the edge of the helmet to where it is visible in my peripheral vision. I just taped the cable to the helmet at the edge of the helmet. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Like the Riddler says, look at a laptop. I'd suggest taking a look at an Apple iBook (one of the new models with the G4 processor). The included iPhoto program is great for digital photography...managing your photos, e-mailing them, putting them on a website, creating a book with your photos, etc, etc. As a side benefit, a life free of viruses and spyware. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Thanks to alanab's AIM thread I actually tried iChat (mac AIM client software) and IM'd alana for a few minutes. I am curious in seeing how good/bad iChat AV works when used for video chatting. If Mac users out there are using it and would spare a few minutes to try it out with me I'd appreciate it. I'm just getting off to bed so will get back to you tomorrow. -- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

We've been wondering about this up here in the frozen north....first warm, sunny day we'll try this out.
