Not true. If one can't land a heavily loaded canopy (and I include, as an example, a 2.2:1 or heavier crossbraced) straight-in with no riser input, then they need to work on their tehnique or go back to a bigger canopy. No one said anything about riser landings. I think Vibeke meant, speed is needed for a better flare and a flare can be done with toggles if I remember right. I also find it amazing how Canada (or at least Ontario) has a two school systems, the Catholic and secular schools, both as public schools. Turning off the unit takes, say 10 seconds or so. So if the unit were on for 100*10=1000 seconds or about 16 minutes, then you are better to turn it off. Even with the assumptions that I haven't listed, or even if it is 1000 times less power, then it would be about 2.5 hours for the break even point. PETA is whacked, no doubt. But, I haven't eaten meat for about 20 years. I stopped not because of how animals are treated, and I still admit that it smells and 'would' taste good. I just find it not appealing to eat for aesthetic reasons I guess. Plus, after reading the Jungle by Upton Sinclair I did some more research and it just is revolting to think of eating it.
