Perhaps it would be a good business decision for them to pull out. Depends on how much it costs them and how much they might lose in sales (is it really effective as advertising?) It might be good for them to not face the possibility of losing to Toyota powered cars. Honda recently left F1 racing, but of course they weren't terribly competitive either. I don't see how the elastic leg strap retainer would affect this. I also don't see how there is any differences in design between the different containers that would affect the result. It is always mentioned that humidity helps reduce pack volume, so I'm surprised that clever riggers haven't figured out a convenient way to get that advantage. Now this is dumb . . . (CARB albedo limits)

Why isn't this worth doing - in all states? If global warming is such an imminent threat, why wouldn't this be just a small part of an overall strategy to stop the trend? It seems that it would have a very small effect, but so many other proposals that are considered worth doing also have very little effect, or even a negative effect (but worth doing anyway because of the political benefit). In terms of cost/benefit ratio, I don't see how there is any cost, there is only potential benefit, right? If this isn't worth doing, we should assume global warming really isn't worth worrying about. During your extensive research, did you see how bldg 7 had a wall that was obviously warped/bowing out? It was reported/shown by reporters at the time. That was an indication that the building was heavily damaged as a result of the falling debris and fire. Why is it that you're only skeptical of the official story? What, if any, aspects of the conspiracy claims do you not believe? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. What do you mean by "freefall speed"? The 2 towers did not fall symmetrically. It certainly could have been even more asymmetric, but it was not even close to what I'd call symmetric. I find it silly to say that a building collapsed just like during a planned demolition. How often do we ever get to see a building collapse otherwise? No basis to compare against. I don't think you know physics well enough to even know when it is simple or when it supports your conclusions. What is "freefall speed"? I think a very important point to consider - It seems to me for the conspiracy theory to be correct, the political opponents of the Bush administration must have been willing to ignore the conspiracy, or else they were also a part of the conspiracy, as supposedly the evidence has been presented for all to see. So, do you accept that? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. We agree that avoiding collisions is the goal. IMO, a first down sets the pattern rule is not at all the best way to achieve that goal. There are of course some hypothetical situations that support your position, I admit that. No strategy will be without some risk. However, I think that overall, there are too many downsides and potential unintended consequences with FMD, they've already been described. That is not a "first one down sets the pattern" rule, that is a "tetrahedron sets the pattern" rule. There is a huge difference. Often enough, there will be more than one person that will be almost simultaneously landing first. People should be setting up into a pattern before having to wait for the first down, and without focusing so much of their attention to monitoring and deciding who was the first down and what direction they were going. I totally agree. I think "first down sets the pattern" to be a horrible strategy that is unable to actually achieve that goal. The two pics you made actually result in the same tension in the line. In both cases the suspended weight is pulling down with 9 pounds, and the other end of the line has an equal force pulling with 9 pounds. In one case the force is provided by the wall, in the other case the force is provided by the weight on the other side of the pulley. A line subjected to 9 pounds of tension has a force of nine pounds pulling on both ends of the line, but that does not make it 18 pounds of tension. If the line didn't have the equal and opposite force pulling on the other end, then it wouldn't be stationary, it would be accelerating in the direction of the larger force. Travelling To/From Moscow - Airline pops the reserve
sundevil777 replied to frost's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The TSA and airlines don't have to let you on with it as carry on, so you might reconsider when/if they inform you of the options you actually have, as opposed to the right to carry it on that we wish we had. Is it possible to have sex with one person for the rest of your life?
sundevil777 replied to tmanmike's topic in The Bonfire
John, I don't think he's looking down on you sweetie. His question was, "Is it possible?" He doesn't understand how to keep a woman satisfied for very long. Sad really. Valinda, I think you've also got it wrong. The original poster's issue is likely not about keeping a woman satisfied for very long, but instead with keeping himself satisfied with the relationship for very long. sundevil777 replied to tmanmike's topic in The Bonfire
Really deep levels of intimacy can make sex extremely satisfying and exciting despite it being with the same person for decades. That degree of intimacy and knowledge of each other takes a long time to develop. New relationships hold the potential for short term excitement due to the nature of a new relationship being hot at first, but that is nothing compared to what can be experienced long term. Apparently very few couples get to this level of intimacy, where the sex is always sizzling hot and satisfying throughout the years. If you start out thinking it isn't possible, you will definitely not achieve it. Worrying Safety Bulletin concerning the Vigil

Checking the electronic health (continuity/stability) of a sensor during a self test is not the same as checking the accuracy and resolution of the sensor in response to actual pressure changes. No self test can do that. No self test can confirm what will happen when the unit is subjected to vibration and temperature extremes. To imply that any self-test is as complete as what is done during the Cypres maintenance check is intentional deception, in my opinion. I would advise during a diving exit to have your arms raised high and legs drawn in, just for a very brief time. I have at least a hundred jumps from a Porter. I never noticed any difficulty at all. Regardless of the plane used, I've found that some people get flipped over on exit because if they get past vertical in a head down exit, they tend to give up on it, they stop flying. Even when you're past vertical, the relative wind still allows you to control it. One of my favorite positions to exit any plane is to climb out forward of the strut of a Porter, with your foot on the wheel. French translation help please (to help me with a girl)
sundevil777 replied to sundevil777's topic in The Bonfire
I'm dating a girl that speaks French fluently. She knows I barely know any French (1 year 20 years ago in school), but I did get a nice reaction when I said to her "Tu es si belle." Plus, she said something back to me in French which I don't understand, but sounded really hot. Anyway, please help me to say a couple more things correctly. I can use online translators to help me with the correct pronunciation, but I can't trust them to give me a 'smooth/correct' translation in regards to familiar vs formal, etc. 1) I am so attracted to you I think this is, "Je me suis tellement attire a toi" If there is a better way to say it in French, of course I'm open to ideas. 2) I can't get you out of my mind (or) Can't get you off of my mind Please let me know whatever you think is the best way to say it, I realize the literal translation won't be the same. 3) I could get so lost in your eyes I'm open to other suggestions of what to say that would help me to melt her heart. Maybe a phrase book for guys that want to do this sort of thing is needed. Thanks in advance for your help. I get it now, thanks. I've often joked that when the rivers run dry the desert areas will have to resort to getting water in this way (collecting the condensate from an air conditioner's evaporator instead of just letting it drip onto the ground). I wonder how much in energy cost is spent to obtain the water, and if you're including the extra heat load added to the room where it is operated (power to drive the compressor and the unit's heat from the condensor appears to be dumped into the room where it is operated - not vented outside). Of course that would be welcome in a cold climate where the room needs to be heated anyway. But back to the thread topic, isn't it an accepted fact that parachutes pack smaller in a humid environment? It is my understanding, reported by many riggers, that parachutes will pack smaller in a humid rather than dry environment. I cannot make sense of that, do you have more information? How long ago did you see it? Perhaps someone from Perris will explain. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. As a former resident of Phoenix for 14 years, I can definitely say that swamp coolers can be very effective, but only when the humidity is pretty low. Most people with swamp coolers also had a regular air conditioning system for the times when the swamp cooler couldn't do it. I would think that riggers might keep a couple cheap humidifiers handy to improve conditions when needed. Of course this can't help those that have to pack in the outdoors, and many inspections are done outdoors or in large hangers. Don't you think that most riggers could find a room to do the actual packing that is fairly easy to humidify?
