  1. Of course not all Palestinians are islamofacists, we shouldn't have to split hairs like that. But why isn't the Israeli's response explained away by what has been done to them by their neighbors? It explains what the radical islamists do, as you have said, right? Yes, I think their feeling is unreasonable. They didn't get screwed out of their land by the Israelis, the UN did it, and it wasn't their land anyway, it was the Brits that controlled it after WWI. They decided the mandate between the wars, and then the UN decided to create Israel. A LOT of things changed in WWI and II - national boundaries all over the world changed. Why should the arab states get to go terrorist after they refused to participate in the UN action at the time. They promised to go to war, they did repeatedly, lost repeatedly, but still want a do-over. I say tough shit. That wasn't true when the wars started after Israel was created. What do you think would have happened if Israel had lost? Do you think there would have been a genocide? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. There have been extremist/terrorists that were Christians, the IRA for example. Their goals, however, were limited and relatively reasonable, such as independence/self-determination from those that were ruling them. After getting that, the prior injustices were generally left behind and the sides that had been at war are on good terms, living peacefully. If I am wrong in this summary, of course let me know. The islamofacists, however, aren't satisfied with having their own, independent nation, they want to change the world and install their own system on all. They want to do it by force. This is from their own proclamations. Huge difference, I think. Those states and groups that want to kill Jews and destroy Israel want to do that not because of what has happened in the decades past 1948, they wanted it since the beginning of Israel (and even before). These islamofacists do not fit the mold of the oppressed group that is fighting back due injustices done to them. They just don't like how WWII ended and what the UN did after that. Repeated wars haven't worked for them, but they don't want to give up land/sovereignty when they lose the wars, they want a perpetual do-over until they get what they want. Huge difference, I think. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  3. This was my statement of how you were presenting yourself. How have you twisted this to be what I feel? Again, you ignore answering anything about what responsibility you feel the US has. So, again I will say the same thing: I can only assume that you feel the US is 100% in the right, the "Arabs" are 100% in the wrong. That's extremist. Exactly the same as them, just in a different religious package. Only extremists view the world in such simple terms. I guess compared to you, most people are pacifists, huh? If I don't advocate wiping out the same people you want to wipe out, then I must be a pacifist. It's how you can dismiss every single thing that anyone says who disagrees with you. I have no problem with the statement that radical elements within Islam are a threat to the free world, and the US in particular. I think that radical elements within any religious group are a threat to the free world, including Jews. However, since we're talking about Islam: It is an issue we must deal with. Laying down all our arms and defenses would be silly. About as silly as thinking that invading their country, and risking killing innocent people, isn't going to make the problem bigger. Our long term peace will not be accomplished at gunpoint. It will begin with an acceptance of past mistakes, and a sincere effort to avoid them in the future. It will continue with trying to rebuild our standing with those people. We will not win back all of them. Extremists on both sides are probably a lost cause. Maybe we can stick all of you in the same place, and see what happens. Maybe your idea of fighting the enemy would change if the US military wasn't doing the fighting, and you had to do it yourself? It's interesting to me that you went on such a tirade to point out how much the Jews want peace, and all you can talk about is wiping these people out. Wow, you talk about me being on a tirade! No, just liberals. Most Americans aren't liberals, so...no, most people compared to me aren't pacifists. Hey, lookie there, you assumed something about me, and I responded to it without taking offense. You might try it. SC does allow us to make assumptions and "twist" the words of others, don't you know? You repeatedly go on about the death of innocents in a war (as explanation for how we are responsible for what is going on there), so it would seem that you are stating that such deaths are not acceptable So make it clear, is the war in Afghanistan the "right" war as Obama says, or is it misguided/not acceptable/whatever for reasons including but not limited to the deaths of innocents? I said nothing like that, you're just assuming, as you said. What is the purpose of reminding people that we've made mistakes/share some responsibility? Do you have a desire to educate the morons that don't already know that mistakes have been made before and during the war? There are bad guys and good guys in the war we are fighting. Some, however, have a tough time realizing that and choosing sides. Apologizing for the mistakes and misdeeds that happen during a war does not stop a war unless both sides would actually prefer a negotiated settlement. Do you really think our enemy in this war prefers that? I think not, but of course we don't have to make our own conclusions, as they have made it clear by their own statements. You say about radical islam that "It is an issue we must deal with." But how? You say, " Our long term peace will not be accomplished at gunpoint. It will begin with an acceptance of past mistakes, and a sincere effort to avoid them in the future. It will continue with trying to rebuild our standing with those people." Yea, right, Obama was has been doing a lot of apologizing, and promised to get the world to like us again, how has that worked out so far? You say, " We will not win back all of them. Extremists on both sides are probably a lost cause." Damn right the islamofacists are a lost cause, and they cause a lot of big trouble and won't reconsider their extremism because of America admitting its mistakes. I think it will end when some Sadat-like leaders emerge. Sadat didn't have his change of heart because the Israelis were apologizing, he changed because he saw that war wasn't serving his people well, he realized his people could live in peace with the Jews. War pushed him to that realization. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  4. yawn. Can't put what I say in quotes, because it won't fit your argument? So you just keep twisting it up? Please quote from one of my posts where I said this. You said: and: and in reply to my question...Do you have a problem acknowledging that radical islam is a great threat to the free world and is waging war against it? you said: I put those together and conclude that you should be a pacifist, even though you recognize that radical islam is a great threat and is waging war against us. A true pacifist is one that will be so even in the face of the recognized threat, as you have admitted. You don't want to have the innocents killed by your own actions in a war, so how would you avoid that? You avoid that by not going to war. So, I've directly quoted you, as you so strenuously requested. I think my conclusion is reasonable, but will expect a reply which ignores your own statements and insults me instead. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  5. Of course war has innocent victims. It appears that you expect it to possible to wage war against the taliban and AQ without innocents being killed. Perhaps you should be a pacifist, at least that would be consistent. The Palestinians, for instance, portray themselves as innocent victims, and are aided by much of the media including the BBC and others. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  6. You say you're not a pacifist, but expect war to be conducted with no innocents killed because when that happens you say we share responsibility... It sounds like you should be a pacifist. I don't have a problem saying "some Arabs". Do you have a problem acknowledging that radical islam is a great threat to the free world and is waging war against it? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  7. They have attacked us When have I advocated that we attack those that pray to the same god or look the same? If I did, I didn't mean to do it. Do you think no war is justified unless we are attacked? I think we should have been involved in WWII long before we did, and that isn't because the Germans sunk some American ships. What the Germans and Japanese were doing justified stopping them before the Pearl Harbor attack and before the invasion of Poland. Do you agree? Some libs strongly advocate that we should not sit by and watch the atrocities in Africa continue. Clinton and a coalition of Europeans agreed that we shouldn't let things continue in the Balkans. Just trying to get a sense of the degree to which you are an isolationist. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  8. You had posed the following question earlier in this thread: My answer was yes, all for it. Since we are at war with them, why doesn't that make sense? That answer to your question does not equate to genocide. A military victory in the current war against radical islam does not equate to genocide. This is still a world largely controlled by the use of military force to achieve political objectives - Especially with radical islam. Perhaps you want to try more diplomacy, perhaps it just hasn't been tried by someone that really means them well, maybe that's why it has failed. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  9. You wonder why I say you're part of the blame America first/most crowd? You've exemplified it right there. The Arabs explicitly advocate genocide. They just can't live with the result of WWII and what the world (though the UN) did after the end. They are the ones choosing war. Perhaps you're a pacifist that will decide against war no matter what. Because we are at war with a very dangerous enemy, one that wants to destroy us and has the ability to do it. I understand that you don't recognize it for what it really is. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  10. A lot of newbies tend to have their legs close together/not spread apart. If you look at really good RW flyers, you will usually see their legs spread apart very wide, nearly 90 degrees. This will give you more stability in the roll axis. You won't want to spread your legs during a track, just when you are falling flat. It is something to keep in mind and make a habit of, your issue may well be unrelated. A lot of newbies also have very busy legs - they don't realize they're flailing with their legs/feet. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  11. It is disgusting that so many will blame America first, and the Arabs last, or not at all. I get info from many sources, including liberal sources such as the BBC, PBS, NPR, and other major media outlets. Do you only get info from these liberal biased sources? You likely don't consider them lib biased, in which case your blinders are too firmly attached. Perhaps you've bought into the crap that so many news sources publish that is fed to them by the Palestinian Authority, I do not. It's happening now due to their own actions. They are not simply victims of circumstances beyond their control. Jews haven't had peace because of the Arabs - they just can't handle how WWII ended and what the rest of the world (in the form of the UN) did to create Israel. They vowed to eradicate it, have failed again and again, but now want the land they lost in those wars back. The Jews are willing to live in peace with their neighbors, it is some of their Arab neighbors that are not. My perspective - I'm Jewish. Perhaps the Arabs you know don't hate you because you agree that they are the victims, I don't know. Of course when I assert the Arabs are to blame, I am blaming the Arab leadership. That is why I long for the kind of leadership Sadat exhibited. He had led his country to war against Israel, then realized his people were not served well by such actions, he had a true change of heart and was able to make peace with Israel. Now you've got Egypt having to fight against the Palestinians that are causing trouble on their border. I don't suggest genocide is the answer, I want others to recognize that Arabs do in fact advocate exactly that. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  12. Not that simple. Is it all our fault? No. Do we share responsibility for how those people feel about us? Absolutely. Any research you do into our influence/actions in the middle east from circa 1904 on will lead you to the inevitable conclusion that we do not hold the moral high ground. Do we deserve what we get? No more or less than they do. All he can do is try to set us on the road to recovering from our mistakes of the past. No one can attempt to hold him responsible for a century-worth of ill will, and I hope your comment is at least partly tongue-in-cheek. At some point, if we are ever to find a real solution that doesn't include genocide, someone is going to have to change our direction. Or would you venture that we are better served by never ending war? The world's history is full of subjegation/repression/however you want to call it. Please don't imply that America is high up on the list of that activity. Most of the world has been able to get over the past conflicts/imperialism/however you want to call it and has learned to simply pursue a prosperous future in peace. Germans and Japanese were able to do it, why can't Arabs? Jews are willing to live in Peace with their neighbors, why can't Arabs? The answer is that it has nothing to do with past transgressions by Americans, or the British/French/or even the Hungarians or Turks that were in charge of that region. No, it has to do with the Arab's overt and state-sanctioned bigotry, prejudice, and hatred that is now such an important part of their identity. Anwar Sadat had a true change of heart and the courage to lead his country toward a peaceful future. The lack of peace in that region is not due to America's actions or even Israel's actions, it is due to the bigotry, prejudice, and hatred from the Arabs. When they get some consistent and widespread leadership like Sadat, peace will be possible. Feelings of guilt by Americans will not bring this about. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  13. That's a good one! Like it, like it It didn't happen, even by your own guy's data, so no need for an explanation. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  14. At last someone that has a rational answer that is not an I'm right and you are wrong attitude, thank you. I very much respect you for that. I'll try to ignore the bigotry and absent mindedness of the other replies and try to engage in a meaningful conversation, you are a breath of fresh air. I see you have a good understanding of physicis and can present you knowledge in a rational manner. Bearing in mind your detailed post, do you beleive it is possible for freefall acceleration to occur while all this friction is taking place? Can the transfer of energy from floor to floor happen at such a rate that the complex falls for a period at the accleration of gravity? If you beleive this is possible can you please clarify. there are plenty of people that claim to beleive this is possible but none have even attemted to explain how they beleive it is so. You obviously have a deeper understanding of physics but with my megre high school physics and every day life experience, am lead to beleive that freefall would be impossible with such activity taking place. Your ability to judge another persons understanding of physics is not worth a darn, as shown by your willingness to only trust the CS advocates. Please stop misrepresenting what the data shows us. Your claim that freefall acceleration happened is not true. It was close, but not 1.0g as you repeatedly assert. If the NIST said it was falling at that rate, well then they should have been more precise and stated that it was falling at .99, .96, or .90 or whatever they measured. Of course the methods available to measure the acceleration will have an uncertainty that is significant, so their measurement would likely have at least a plus/minus 3-5% uncertainty. Let us assume that the nominal measured value (without considering the magnitude of error) was, well let us use .95g as a number to argue about, and assume that the NIST chose to call that the same as freefall. You seem to want to call it freefall, even though it is not quite there. The .05g that is missing is due to the resistance of the structure. So, please tell us at what rate the building should have fallen if, as you claim, the structure had not been intentionally weakened before the fall. All that you have ever done in the past is say, "it should have been slower" without putting any sort of number to that. Your conspiracy advocate websites even spend the time in their videos showing a lady explaining how you can't say, "ca-chuck, ca-chunk" for each floor fast enough to allow the collapse. Don't you have a proposal for how long a "ca-chunk" requires? The lady in the truther video implies that the structure would come to a complete stop with each "ca-chunk" Yet it disappoints you when truthers are ridiculed! If you cannot address this point, then you got nothing - How fast should it have fallen, and how much error is in the video measurement? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  15. The video is a bunch of crap, really pitiful that the guy spent so much time on those experiments and believes it demonstrates anything. Feynman's statement about experiments assumes that the experiment has some resemblance to the actual situation - solid blocks of ice, blocks smashing into each other! That was really pathetic, I should have known not to waste time watching that video. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  16. Your guy's data showed that bldg 7 was NOT in freefall, and that the acceleration varied significantly during the collapse. Your guy's data clearly showed it, I pointed it out, and you have ignored it. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  17. Is there a war that you would say was necessary/moral? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

  19. Since psychopack is a BAGING method and not a PACKING method, how can it affect the opening? If it results in the canopy going in more neatly/retaining the order that existed when it was laid down on the ground, it should tend to improve openings. 20. True traceability isn't there, but at least if the risers stay with a rig, then you know what mfg supplied them - more likely that an owner can be informed of a possible problem. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  21. The facts are more important than being well presented and concise. Not surprising that you wouldn't rate that as high as being slick and short. I showed how your guy's data absolutely does not support his claims of freefall acceleration, and all you did was say that it didn't matter. It seems not to matter to you what is proven, you don't debate intellectually, just avoid the real issues, change the subject and pretend as if the facts always support your assertions. Very similar to what has happened in this thread. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

  24. Harmless? It's even better than that, you are no competition for the limited amount of women in the sport. Are you SUUUUUUUUUUURRRE? We had more STRAIGHT women skydivers partying with us at our last Rainbow Boogie, than Rainbow Skydivers. Just ask someone who was there.
  25. Now that is a really crappy analogy People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
