In 30 years of jumping, I've never used a full face, but am now considering it as I'm waiting for my new set of nylon to arrive. Haven't jumped for a couple years, and won't be to the DZ for a month (enough time to get a new helmet if I could only decide which). Unfortunately, I've never even put on a fullface helmet. I've read reviews and searched the forum, but still have some specific issues for which I hope you'll offer your perspective. 1) Visibility downward toward chest. I'm particularly concerned about this related to handle visibility and because I want to put a digital altimeter on the mudflap area so I can see it while tracking away. It seems like the Oxygen A-3 has a thicker lower "jaw" area of the helmet than the original Oxygen. Is the result worse lower visibility? 2) Are some of the older designs (Factory Diver, original Oxygen, Z1) lacking in some of the really nice comfort or whatever features that I should care about? It really is hard to make sense of the differences from reading the descriptions from the mfgs. Do some old desings have fixed screens? 3) I don't want a helmet that has nothing but a shell and felt padding. I want it to have something of a shock absorbing layer beyond felt. Which are the worst ones in this respect. 4) I have a 24 inch head circumference, about a 7 5/8 to 7 3/4 hat size (definitely XXL), but not unusual in terms of forehead/chin/nose. Are there some helmet that are not so good at fitting the larger heads? 5) My left ear works better than my right, so I'd rather be able to put my audible on the left side. It isn't at all clear from some of the mfgs if they can accommodate an audible one either side. 6) The quality of the visor mechanism always seems to be a contentious issue, so it is hard to tell which helmets are to be excluded, if any, for having a lousy design. Can the less than fantastic designs be easily enhanced by the owner? As I said, I've tried to read up on all this stuff, but haven't been able to confirm these questions overall. Thanks in advance for your help. I feel that even if I try some on at my DZ, I'll still want a wide group of opinions as I can get here. Sure would like to be able to get one before putting my knees back in the breeze. Blacks are no more a monolithic group with a spokesman than are whites, hispanics, Americans, arabs, Muslims, Christians, or humans. Consider each person as an individual, then choose to ignore or listen to them. Wendy P. What a deflection of the issue. Of course when discussing such issues, you can split hairs all day long about how generalization is bad (and you do that a lot). So substitute "black advocate group leadership" or whatever instead. Blacks as a voting group are incredibly monolithic, and very largely follow the orders that their "advocate group leadership" gives them. Juan Williams (a very notable, black news analyst for NPR) has talked at length about how he was severely attacked when he has disagreed with the position of the black "leadership". Their "leadership" doesn't allow for dissent without vicious, personal, racist attack. You think that if a white girl bring a black boy home to meet the parents, there aren't a lot of white parents who would be upset by that? That is not what you brought into question. You asserted that there was the equivalent of the "brown bag test". What you've described is certainly racism, but not the equivalent of a brown bag test. No, I don't remember that. Of course, I don't listen to anything Jesse Jackson says, so maybe that's my problem. It is true, try looking it up, I'm sure it will be easy to find, and you'll have a better perspective about Rev Jackson. Got it. So you don't have any actual examples either. Come on, give it a try, if you really can't find it, I promise I'll do it for you, but give it an honest attempt, please. cosby is black - duh! Remember when you said "...sensibly debate and criticise like white folks do?" When blacks use the verbal pitchfork of "traitor to his race" and "uncle tom", then I think they are choosing to intimidate and stifle debate. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

so you're calling cosby a 'traitor to his race' and an 'uncle tom'. why do you spread such accusations? Please pay attention. Others do that (traitor to his race...), not me. I was calling attention to the fact that you were wrong to try and wordsmith your way around that fact that it does happen, as was brought up in an earlier post. i see, black folks can only 'attack' cosby with 'pitchforks' - they can't be allowed to sensibly debate and criticise like white folks do? (and you are spreading accusations - with no source - that cosby is an 'uncle tom' and a 'traitor to his race' - don't do it.) You don't deserve any more feeding, troll. You don't think some white people use a similar test? No, I don't. Perhaps I'm just unaware of such a despicable practice. Please inform us. I would never say that. That is very similar to what Cosby says, and he gets applauded by most, but excoriated by blacks (they want to use the verbal pitchfork on the president for it, but they mostly hold their tongue). Remember how Jessie Jackson said he wanted to cut his balls off? That is exactly the opposite of what you have asserted. It's not considered racist to disagree with the President. Except in your world, and Glenn Beck's, and Rush Limbaugh's, and Sean Hannity's. I've asked repeatedly on this forum for examples where disagreeing with the President was actually met with cries of racism. No one has ever produced any. You haven't been paying attention. Many, many liberal political pundits have said that criticism of Obama is driven by racism. If you really can't find the multitude of examples of that, I will bother to find it for you, but I'm sure you will be successful if you try. Thanks for the insight on the design. That certainly would have created some different issues for when activations (inadvertent or not) happen under an open canopy. 24 is awesome, my sons and I get a barrel of laughs from every episode. Much more entertaining than the ordinary action show. Bill Cosby and other blacks certainly do attempt to get, "Blacks looking inward for the source of their woes..." They also certainly get attacked with verbal pitchforks and such, being called, "a traitor to their race", and, "Uncle Tom" for their efforts. It is so nice that the article you cited absolves blacks of the need to look inward, very convenient indeed. It used to be that a national politician could be overtly racist and still get reelected. That isn't true anymore, except that black politicians can still be racist and get away with it. Right, it is a no-win scenario, but as a movie viewer you expect that the good guys will prevail at least in part - a somewhat happy ending, and we want to see how they will do it. 24 was awesome. Bauer would be interrogating a guy he knew wouldn't break due to torture, and his wife was also there, so he would shoot the guy's wife right in the knee! You don't get that kind of action anywhere else on TV! As you said, the guy in Unthinkable won't talk because of torture to himself, but perhaps getting someone he does care about into the picture would work. It makes me wonder, makes me want to see it. Not everyone likes that type of action movie, I don't like horror movies. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. An action movie that might be semi-plausible, moral dilemmas, lots of violence...what is not to like? The only problem I see is the apparent lack of a hot, barely dressed chick. It is interesting to me that you have a loop cutaway handle (I use one also), but a pad for the reserve. What is your thinking on that? Also, both of the leg strap adjusters/buckles seem to have something metallic in them that I can't make out, what is it? The wealth disparity is growing, that is an easy observation. I doubt that the authors of the report you cited would conclude the truth that liberal welfare policies are largely to blame. I think it would be very tough to turn them off if you have 3 students plus a jumpmaster in a C182. All the moving around might also result in the jumpmaster moving his weight to the back when the plane is full and flying rather slow...a bad combination. I can understand wanting to avoid an activation and allowing the pilot to fly without restriction, but don't think it is practical in a full C182. Anti-American Post on Speaker's Corner Exposed!

I sure hope it is all good, mine arrives in a month (Pilot 210 ZPX) Might as well just 'fess up with what was discussed, come on, what is the internet for if not rumors? From a design engineer's perspective, I don't think there is much reason for concern. I believe the material mfg is independent of Aerodyne, and I think that the material design engineers know very well the appropriate performance parameters and how to confirm that the short and long term results are good. The performance and durability summary that Aerodyne sent me showed that the new material was tougher and more durable than the standard ZP stuff. Is there some reason to distrust the integrity of the material mfg? You might have concerns about the long term dimensional stability of the new material. i do not believe that such an issue, or long term porosity for instance would be overlooked. You have the testing of the material mfg, and the canopy mfg to wring out potential trouble, and I will rely on that much more than the speculation of a canopy designer not involved in the development. If anything, the use of ZP and non-ZP fabric on the same canopy should raise more issues than an all ZPX canopy, but why don't we worry about that? Because the canopy mfgs have thoroughly tested them over lots of jumps. We don't have anything that shows the optimum reserves have issues, correct? That's an all new material being used for reserves. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. A well reasoned argument on the Rand Paul controversy

Yes, I think that the criticism that a private business would have if they were to exclude minority blacks or hispanics, etc. would be enough of a force to make all but a few kooks do the right thing. That wasn't the case before, but it is now. I think it is time to allow more liberty for people to be assholes if they choose. Of course given that discrimination based upon race is condoned if done to exclude whites, not everyone has to follow the civil rights act anyway. We should remember the 2:1 Dem:Repub ration of the opponents of the act at the time of its passage, including algore's dad, bird, fullbright, etc. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. Charles Krauthammer: The fruits of weakness
sundevil777 replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
And a lot of smart people just disagree on the point where you give up on diplomacy and move to force. That's where smart people discuss, and a lot of others just start yelling and name-calling. Wendy P. Quite right, certain people don't rebut the columns of certain commentators, and instead just call them names such as chickenhawk. It certainly is much easier to do that rather than discuss the merits of changing strategy on the diplomacy vs the use of force. I suppose I'm guilty of calling certain people names such as pacifist. Charles Krauthammer: The fruits of weakness
sundevil777 replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
Some would assert that hawkish persons such as Krauthammer do not advocate the use of diplomacy/sanctions/alternatives to war/force. I say this is not correct. There are no current "situations" in the world where it has not been used, and used, tried and tried...even for those situations where war was the result. Some will want to use diplomacy/sanctions/alternatives to war/force forever no matter what the response to those efforts, never being able to conclude that it is not going to work. Some are not able to see the difference, or choose not to see it. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired.
