You can use that knife for ripstop. cut quickly since it's thin. It works great. Get that one, you will be happy with it. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

That knife is well worth the money. It's the same one I've used to cut a LOT of material. Put the material on a mirror, glass, or even masonite. Don't push too hard and cut fairly slowly. Let the knife melt through rather than trying to actually cut. If the knife gets dull, sharpen it with a file or grinder but take care doing it. It takes most people very little time to figure out how to control a basic sit position. It takes longer to be maneuverable and have it be a "neutral" position after some form of tumble. People don't zoom around much while learning head up. People zoom around like crazy learning how to control head down. It’s really apparent when a person skips basics. Proficiency on the feet is nothing basic by the way. Head up flying teaches leg control and great balance. With out good leg control, people tend balance on their shoulders with their arms straight out when flying head down. Head up, and head down are just 2 positions. They can be flown or can be just a pose. Standing, doing spins, layouts etc... is over looked far too often. If a person wishes to learn how to freefly well, they should become proficient on their feet and do a lot of tricks in the process. Head down comes a whole lot easier that way. Sure a person can learn how to fly on their head before becoming proficient on their head but I can assure you that learning to be a complete body flyer will take a lot longer and many habits will have to be changed later on. There's nothing wrong with a Sabre that people don't know about now. Some and I say SOME of them open hard. A pocket added to the slider fixes that and it's a cheap fix. After jumping several Sabres, only one tended to open hard so I sewed a pocket on the slider and the problem went away. Larger sliders do the trick as well. Sliders nowadays are usually quite a bit bigger than was put on Sabres originally. They fly well, surf damn good, and can sink them in to a back yard pretty easily too. I just don't see anything wrong with spending 5 or 600 bucks for a perfectly good canopy. Hope that helps My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

A friend of mine and I showed up in Moab for the turkey boogie a few years ago without a clue. We went to Vertigo and asked for directions to anywhere.... Tom happened to be there and after a brief introduction, he said..."Why don't you boys come with me. There's a rock named after a pizza with your name on it" Tom took us on our first E. My knees were shaking and Tom eventually laughed at me. I can't remember what he said but it cracked me up and I finally went for a phat 3/4 second delay. About 2 years later I was in Texas and met up with Rodney who graciously hooked me up with the "Farris Wheel" and 2 B jumps. The second jump from the B was A week later. He called up and said to meet him there again. He was up top by the time another friend and I arrived so we found our way in and wouldn't you know it... there was Tom smiling ever so casually. It was a pretty big open landing zone. Rodney went first and then Tom. Instead of the nice wide open area, he crashed into a bulldozer. Man that was loud!!! He was ok though. He hurt his ankle some but seemed to be fine. Those are my Tom stories. Thanks for the words of wisdom, for taking me on my first cliff... and having a couple drinks with me in Moab and Twin and Colorado R.I.P. Tom Tim PS, littlestranger... thanks for the nice reminder. :) My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

How much do you weigh? Your profile says you're at 1.03 to 1 which makes you pretty light. Loading it higher has it's disadvantages. That said, if you do a control check and pay attention, you should be fine. I've never stalled one and loaded each one quite a lot more than 1 to 1. The key was a control check. If you fail to do a control check and just cram on the brakes at 10 feet you will stall it. Cramming on the brakes is a common mistake and it stems from lack of canopy control checks. You should be ok under it. It is just a parachute so fly it as such. Ravens have been around for a long time. It's the smaller ones that are the most touchy to fly. By the way, the info is all over this forum and it says the same thing I did and more. If you care too, do a search on Micro Raven. Real easy.. if you're loading a 107 at 1.9... just say no to the Micro Raven 109 ... ZP or otherwise. ZP reserves make little sense. Micro ravens have a very very short control range. People stall them all the time and land on their backs. If you're going to get something that small, get a PD-R 106 Personally I would suggest the 113. I have flown a 109 and I was extremely current. It took all my skill to not stall it. My 106 PD was much easier to land but I would upsize to a 113 if I could find a close trade. There are too many to list all so I'll write the first 10 that come to mine. Dave Stewart John Mattson Brad Chatellier Even Mortimore Chris Q Johnny "luv" Horton Bonnie Dutile-Lundblad Clay Bonavito Marty Steve Rafferty Martin Tilley .. Oops.. that's 11 and I could list several more. I don't want to leave people out but The post will be to long. I have reasons for each person listed but that too would take way too many words so it basically it all boils down to this. Showing me and many others a lot about skydiving and life in general, and doing it with no expectations.
