  1. Don't get hurt then. As an adult, why do you feel you can't tell them? My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Turn it on where you take off from. Set the adjustment 150 up (or the closest increment up). My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  3. It's hard to read the actual emotion being portrayed in print. If I didn't know better I would almost think you're angry. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  4. Go where everyone else did. You won't change the DZO's way, that will only change when he quits running the place. Then it will still take time to make it a fun jumper place along side the tandem business. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  5. Mad props to the guy jumping form the tethered helium balloon. It probably made peoples day after the minor shock wore off a second or 2 after the canopy opened. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  6. I think you meant pilot chute in tow. There's no reach around option with a bag lock. What rig where you jumping when these occured? My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  7. If it's a kevlar line, it may not cut easy anyway. rwieder, I don't believe it would work so easy as it sounds on paper. The likelyhood you would personally have this happen is so slim, that except for random discussion, the point isn't very solid anyway. 8. A diving exit can be good on a hop and pop if it's level to the relative wind. I did it once on an emergency exit from 1200', nice and stable.
  9. Most people aren't used to seeing a stiletto doing a 360 hook anymore. A nice hard diving slowish stiletto type hook turn will scare all spectators. A 360 on my old xaos I used to jump was somewhere around 700 feet and slightly below. Adjust the dive accordingly during the turn. 10. I'm very goofy foot dominant in a daffy. I either fly straddle, both legs back or RT foot forward. I CAN fly left forward but I don't naturally practice it anymore. If you're new to head down, do your self a favor and do both. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  11. (brief hijack to hopefully answer this question) I don't know if it helps or not. I quit using it. It's simply designed to keep the slider in place until line stretch. Instead I accomplish it by using about a 6 inch bight and pull it right up against the slider grommets. On slider up, I do the micro reefing folds to the stabilizers to help hold the slider in place. Slider down, I may or may not do the micro reefing folds. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  12. If you have access to a BASE or CRW canopy, take a peek at it. I'll try steal a picture and attach it here, but the amazing picture I created in Paint will hopefully describe it well enough for now. The tail pocket is a Velcro closed pouch on the very center of top skin of the trailing edge. Dark Green is the seam on the trailing edge. Neon Green is the center cell. White. Is the tail pocket. The dotted line in the center is a sew line. Red: Hook Velcro Blue: Pile Velcro Red side is sewn to the canopy, the blue side is a flap that closes over. Blue mates with red to make the pocket. The brown is a rubber band. It's the primary stow. After the canopy is layed down and skinnied up, take a several inch bight of line and stow it in the rubber band. Stuff it under the tail pocket indicated in grey. The edge where the grey is isn't sewn down so it creates a pocket for the line bight. The lines get figure 8 folded and enclosed in the pocket much like a freebag. Edit: Here's a packing manual that shows a tail pocket 1.9 MB Look on page 27 through 29
  13. You lucked out. You actually felt that one. I don't always feel the small ones and feel jipped. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  14. With a tail pocket and a primary stow, it will work. -Be certain you use a good 6 bight of line in the primary stow. -The stow should also be pulled up tight against the slider to keep in in place until line stretch. 15. Nice footage bill Have Reno put her knees closer together also Ashley has some tunnel skills [:thumbup emoticon] The speed of the opening seems pretty normal. The slider may be hanging a little too long. I haven't been jumping a velo for a while but will start again this weekend to see how it compares to yours. They tend to be chaotic anyway. Since the canopy is folding forward, it would lead me to believe the brake settings could be deeper. If I recall, a 120 could be almost 1/2 inch deeper. I will search for another thread that talked about it. How many jumps on the lines? Talk to Pete. It may be worth your while to have a set of the HMA lines he uses on it. 17. More altitude is great but for a hop -n- pop, you don't need it. If I were getting out at 5, I'd at least fall to 4000 just so you can have a bit of freefall fun. Train your exit. Exiting stable is easy but go ground train it. 3500 feet is plenty. It will take about 11 seconds to fall the first 1000 feet. If you take 5 of those seconds and exit, arch... pause... remain arched, reach, pull. You will still be in the saddle about 2500 feet and most likely even higher. 5 seconds is a long time. Most likely a nice relaxed stable exit and pull will take you 2 seconds. You'll be flying at 3 grand. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  18. Arch. Head up or even back. Legs out but not straight. Why legs out? Helps keep you from backlooping and keeps your feet away from the bridle. Remember this. There is always wind. Arch like you mean it and the wind will correct your orientation. Ignore the ground as you exit. If you try to level yourself with the ground, you will flail. Arch, don't reach for what you can't grab. You already know this. Pull Pull on time Pull on time stable If for some reason you cannot become stable in time, there is only one option. Pull. Deal with whatever comes next. Hope that helps. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  19. I read it on the other forum, I'm so sorry to hear I'd still like to see the pictures because it sounds bad ass. I knew it would work but didn't know you really meant a canopy or speed wing. Be well. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  21. It doesn't really matter what packs bigger. If a 109 will fit, so will the 109. (edit... I mean... If the 109 will fit, so will the 106. The 106 packs every so slightly larger) I've used both canopies. You need all your skill handy when you find yourself under them. The 109 has a very short control range. If you pull down too much especially if you do this too high, the stall will slam you hard. Swoopers tend to flare too high when flying straight in so the 109 needs a correct touch. That correct touch is very specific. The 106 flies better and flares stronger with a longer control range. Keep in mind even though this is true, it's overloaded and requires all your skill. What do I mean by that? If you're landing in a tight landing zone surrounded by ... anything... your skill might be how to minimize the crash. BTW, that's a good skill. I don't care what you fly, that's up to you. When I was jumping a LOT, I landed both canopies a few times and upsized my reserve. Good luck! 22. Yes, but rather than take a sled ride to the bottom, even hang gliders need wind to stay aloft. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  23. Yep. It's been done quite a bit. Not a good idea if you don't know what you're doing already. Good luck! Wear an HDGoPro. If it works out it's going to look great. If it doesn't, it will be spectacular. Hope that helps. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  24. Another lame darwin award comment from someone who should actually have a clue. Funny stuff. Looks fun to me plus he gets FAR away from the cliff to top it all off. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
