Heya all, Protecting my users from scams and other abuse. Please see this announcement: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1213271 I will add the feature to make it optional (as mentioned in this post) in the next few hours. If someone contacts you via this form and you find later that it is a scam, please forward this original contact form to the email address provided. Hope this helps!

Heya all, We've added a feature to the classifieds to help protect sellers and fight scams. In short: You will have to be a registered user to have access to the contact information of a seller Interested buyers will initiate contact though an online form on Dropzone.com (only visible to registered users) Sellers will receive the contact information and message (there's an example below) and can choose to reply or not. You can forward any potential scam emails to a special "abuse" email that's included with with each message. Why does this make sense? This keeps your email address hidden from potential buyers and you choose whether they get it or not by replying, or not. We have a lot more control over registered users on Dropzone.com and can act quickly against scams. This makes it a lot more cumbersome for a scammer to get in touch with you. Not only do they have to register an external email address somewhere, but they have to create a dropzone.com account (which can be closed quickly and all email from a domain blocked from future registration If a scammer registers a Dropzone.com username we immediately have access to the IP address he/she uses to browse the web. We don't have this with emails sent from free mail providers. Information provided though this form is logged for future reference. An added benefit is that it provides you with an additional layer of protection against email harvesting robots that grabs addresses from the web for spam lists. Here's and example of the notification you will get when someone contacts you. Safe swoops Sangiro

Heya all, I'm working on some features that required me to change some of the column types in the database. Some "Text" fields have been changed to "integer" fields to allow for "greater than" and "less than" searching to be done on them. This impacts your jump number fields, license numbers, years in sport, exit weight, canopy size, reserve size... and most other number fields. On making the change the database tried to convert your text entries to numbers. Check your profile and make sure your data is still accurate. For example, if your jump number entry was: 2,300+ .... this would have been changed to 2 (everything before the comma ,) 1,250 ...... same as above 800+ ..... this would have been changed to 800 A few ...... this entry would have been removed Check your profile: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=user_profile; You can enter only numbers in those fields in the future. Apparently after a "normal" 90 degree turn from base to final, the arms of the jumper have been observed as "falling to the side". Pilot seemed unconscious. Autopsy might give more information about the cause of the fatality.

Two jumpers were involved in a canopy collision. Both landed unconsciously, one under a main and one under a reserve. The jumper who landed under reserve died while the other was air-lifted to hospital with some broken bones. One jumper remaine

I have added a few more email addresses to the list. A couple of tips to consider and look for: 1) If the email comes from any email address powered by Outblaze, be careful. 2) Consider posting your Dropzone.com email account with your ad. I'm blocking these addresses and will continue to do so as they come in so a person can not email you at Dropzone.com from any of these addresses. Safe swoops Sangiro

Should be fixed. it was the same issue that prevented people from posting for a while. The search index server was down and was refusing to accept posts as it couldn't index them, or do searches. Safe swoops Sangiro

In the last day I've received another dozen or so emails from people that came from this guy. Some were written as recently as yesterday. I suggest if you hear from him to send him this link and tell him we all now know about him... it's time to go away! http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1205398 If you want some email addresses to subscribe to some of those "not so kosher" sites that you visit here are a few for you... dancole@keromail.com brian_george@graffiti.net brad_john@graffiti.net valashy@mail.com valashy01@yahoo.com valashy01@graffiti.net bob_owen2002@fastermail.com tomjeff@linuxmail.org tommyjeff@fastermail.com Oh yes, if you use your dropzone.com email account on your classified ad... these email addresses have been blacklisted on my server. They can not send email to a Dropzone.com email account. If you received an email from a different address, pass it on. If you use your own email account he can still get to you... A jumper working at manifest borrowed a rig and did a solo on the sunset jump. It appears that she made no attempt to deploy any parachute and the Cypres on the container wasn't switched on. There are circumstances surrounding this incident that would s

The jumper was an experienced skydiving instructor and part of a group of 19 from Malaysia who was training for the Oceania Skydiving Championship that was to be held in China later this month. They were jumping from a Cessna Caravan aircraft at 7,000
