Sorry mate, this disclamer may fly on rec.skydiving but over here it's just a waste of my bandwidth. Remember you are new in this community and fools rush in where angels fear to tread.... These are moderated forums - not a platform for the verbal diarrhea that goes on in the wreck. SANGIROS' MOST EXCELLENT DISCLAIMER I have deleted posts in the past simply to make the point that the kind of behavior that turned rec.skydiving into what it is today will not stick here, and I'll do it again in the future. Deleting these posts are meant to offend everyone equally. It takes me one click of a button to get rid of you and you'll have to fill in that whole long stupid registration form again just to be able to play with us. Safe swoops Sangiro

Guys, If you haven't read the article on Taya Weiss on the homepage yet, please do so. I don't have to explain to you guys why Africa is near and dear to my heart. It's also a continent silently under siege. The number of people in Africa who face death through AIDS this year dwarfs any disaster that may be playing off a lot more publicly on your TV screens every night. Taya is only one of a lot of people who are volunteering her time to help. But she's a skydiver and you can help smooth her path. Just to give you an idea of exactly how bad this is (and I'm no scare-monger) here are the year 2000 numbers form the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS. For each statistic below there are two numbers. The first is worldwide, the second is which part of that is from Sub-Saharan Africa. It's a bit of an eye-opener... Aids Deaths: 3 million - 2.4 million Infant Aids deaths: 500, 000 - 440,000 Persons with Aids: 36.1 million - 25.3 million Children with Aids: 1.4 million - 1.1 million New HIV infections: 5.3 million - 3.8 million Read the article, contribute or at least drop her an email and say "Hi, you kick ass!" Thanks for your time. Safe swoops Sangiro

You got it right! At this stage I'm the only one who can upload mug shots. I'll probably look to change that early in the new year when I come back... Safe swoops Sangiro

If you want to jump in the US your reserve will need to have been packed in the past 120 days (4 months). Not sure about France. Safe swoops Sangiro

Have yet to received my Parachutist so I'm behind on my reading. One of the best tips someone ever gave me on going low (and for all I know it was mentioned in Parachutist but let's get it on here anyway) is to turn your side to the formation when trying to pop back up. I used to face the formation, look up at it and try to de-arch at the same time. Looking up at a formation when you're facing straight forward forces your body back into an arch again though! Defeats the purpose of the exercise... So turn sideways, look up and to the side at the formation above you and the de-arch will be much easier and much more successful.

Try this one.... Safe swoops Sangiro

It would not be unreasonable to expect Lee to let you guys know what the status is rather than just pulling the plug....especially if you have email lying on his server. Send him an email and ask him... Safe swoops Sangiro

Heya all, I'm on my way to Africa on Wednesday for three weeks. I'll drop in from time to time to make sure you're not having too much fun without me. I'll be spending about a week around Cape Town, lying in the sun and having a general good time, jumping out of some planes etc. Then up to Namibia for another two weeks where I will engross myself with a bit more of the same!

Yup - Let's see how it goes!

Sorry to hear Lee had to close down DZSports. Safe swoops Sangiro

I have added 4 discipline related forums. These are moderated forums and all discussions in their needs to be related to the topic. Same rules apply as in all other Dropzone.com moderated forums. I will appoint additional moderators for these in the future if necessary. This is a trail. If these forums don't receive sufficient posts they will be merged back into the Safety and Training forum again. Enjoy!

Remi, that's not being negative - it's being smart! Your thinking above is exactly what has withheld me from simply doing it (which should take less than 5 minutes!) You need a critical mass to ensure things are successful on a web site. I think there may be a need for a Swooping / Canopy Control forum - so I may run a trail and shut it down if it doesn't fly. So here's a different question. What forum would divert traffic from Talk Back (where there's more than enough mass ) into a channel that makes sense and provides higher value like the other forums? If you look at this forum, which questions or themes (besides boobies) is recurring enough that it can be funneled into it's own channel? It should also make sense from a skydivers perspective.... Maybe a "Places to jump" Forum? Any suggestions? Safe swoops Sangiro
