Oh, OK. Have you posted in the WS forum? I thought you flew one. Well, you should. ;) "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Ssshhhh... It's in negotiations. No guarantees. Hey, I should have my camera helmet (no stills yet) together by the time I get down there. We should flock and film. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Definitely bringing the suit. I don't jump without it (except on (most) hop and pops and as tandem ballast). Skydive San Diego has one of the Jump Air Otters, right? I love those planes. So fast, so clean. Oh, yeah. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

No Cypres. I used to live in Jamul, actually, but Elsinore was my home DZ. ;) "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

I'll be in San Diego from July 11 - 14 to attend a friend's wedding. I'd like to get up to Elsinore on July 12. If anyone out there lives in San Diego and regular goes to Elsinore on Saturday, anyway, I'd like to get a ride. I'll fund the gas for entire trip. PM me. Thanks, Steve "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

We all fly just barely above slope-y clouds and outtrack them every now and then, I'm sure. It's a very fun thing to do. However, it takes some serious balls to take it down to the ground like that. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

I also have a not completely likely, but possible, theory. I've actually seen this many times. Some people will claim to be sponsored by a company in an unrelated sport, logos on their gear and everything. The reality is they just had logos put on and then claim that they're sponsored. One particular character (skydiver) claimed to be sponsored by Ducati, and Ducato all over his gear. Turned out that not only was he not sponsored at all, but his logbook was "padded" about fivefold (discovered when he tried to get ratings and manifest/DZ knew he didn't have the jumps he claimed). In snowboarding, you come across a lot of people who will buy a ton of Forum or Burton or M3, and then claim to be sponsored. Not saying that these guys aren't sponsored, but just that it isn't impossible. Either way, they're fucking yahoo jackasses that are nothing but hurt to themselves, fellow BASErs, BASE, and their supposed sponsor. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

That's odd. I just ran the above in Java (sans echo()), and did not get 0. I wonder if it's because I'm not on *nix. I'll have to see what happens on Linux at home. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

(!Programming) ? Packing : Skydiving; BTW, if it wasn't confirmed before... i = 0; i++; ...would be 1. ++ increments by a single integer. It's a shorter way of writing... i = i + 1; It's not really good for comparisons, because you could just use < or > instead of =, but it is primarily used for loops: // Writes 0 - 9 for (i=0; i

Wrong people to sponsor. I won't buy another Burton product because of them. And they make great gloves, too. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Oh, yeah, that is him. According to him, Felix Baumgartner is the best in the world at everything ever. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

I voted for BASE. I mean it as a joke. I would never actually recommend BASE to anyone. That's entirely your decision. Tom A's article on here helps you make that decision. The SKyray might be interesting. $3,000, some rigging mods, plus the pain in the ass it might be to lug it around/take up slots (that you might have to pay for)/talk pilots into letting you jump it are the factors that keep me away from it right now. It does seem to be an interesting, though. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Skyray. Red Bull is the only one that can afford one? ;) (Edited to add pics) "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

I hear that. I wore my freefly suit to be a tandem passenger this last weekend. I haven't put it on in about a year. It's really too bad, it's a pretty nice suit. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

A Russian BASE jumper did, in fact, survive a wingsuit landing without a parachute, but just barely. Broken legs and damage to his spine. Not sure what the mal was... maybe PC in tow, but he definitely flew his WS all the way down. People have survived the same without a WS, but I can't help but think that the slow descent did aide in his survival. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

YYYEEEAAAHHHHHH!!!!! That video was f*kkin bad ass. Thanks for the link. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Forward speed? Definitely not 120 MPH, especially if he's still flying a Crossbow or Crossbow-derivative (which tend to have slower forward speeds than their BirdMan counterparts, which do not reach 120 MPH forward). But he does do some amazing stuff. He brings it down like few others. The video sounds awesome and I'm stoked to see it. The last vid I saw of him bringing a suit down was in Crosswind, and that was over two years ago. Downloading this one until then... "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Good point. There are a lot of goals one can set for themselves in WS flying. Creating new tricks is a good one, as well as going for maximum freefall time and/or distance, slowest fall rate, etc. I have a few Steve originals to show off once I can get with someone flying video. ;) I'm ordering either a camera helmet, or parts to mod my Mindwarp this week. I already have the camera, though, which is a pretty big step. ;) "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Flocking is a lot of fun, and I'll try to flock more often than not. But I really enjoy flying next to big clouds by myself. Got out of a 182 yesterday right next to a 6,000 tall cloud and just circled the whole thing, staying right on the edge of it, looking at all the other fluffies, and keeping the suit maxed out for the entire jump (one of the few times I've made it all the way to deployment without fatigue). You don't always get to do that on flocks. It was one of the best flights I've ever had. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Incidentally, I flew with a red tail hawk under canopy yesterday. Did a hop and pop and found myself about 50 feet above him. He was apparently curious, as he flew up to my level, and stayed within twenty feet off to my right for about fifteen seconds before taking off. It hadn't happened to me before, but from what I now hear, these birds are naturally curious about what else is in the air, and will come in to investigate. Really, really amazing visuals.
