  1. OK, I let "amussing" slide once, but twice? It's "amusing." And who is we? For whom are you speaking? You and your extra "s"? You also used "your" instead of "you're" on your first reply, which automatically invalidates your post. Seriously, don't take me so seriously. If you've made it this far without being able to joke about fucked up shit, then you haven't seen enough fucked up shit. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  2. Drunkeness. That's hot. Edited to add: While I have no plans of parting with my whuffo woman, there is definitely something about a chick in a wingsuit -- especially a Skyflyer 3. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  3. Yeah, I like it. And maybe "build" the "columns" first. Like in a 9-way diamond, the three down the middle fly in a line. The nose would just fly the course, the center flies about one body length behind and one foot below the nose, and the tail does the same to the center. The pairs of two on either side fly in a line with the same amount of separation. The pilot at the front of pair would lead the trailing pilot to the formation. The last two would sort of be like "stingers", getting in place once the 7-way is built. It'd take some practice, but it's definitely doable. It'd be best to fly it all in one straight line. So maybe make a 135° turn on exit with a decent wait (20s or so) after the last group... 45° off the line of flight without getting too far away. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

  5. The tough part is something like this is the approach. Can't really move in forwards safely/effectively... maybe make the diamond big and separated, and close it up to form it... one row at a time. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  6. I accept your challenge! Your burble is above you. The air you're catching when you're directly behind someone (or in this case, about 5 feet behind them) is clean and uninterrupted. See the attached technical illustration. The burble's kinda like that. Apply the burble to each person, and you'll see that no one is in dirty air. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  7. Cool. Maybe you guys will appreciate this post. It was evidently overlooked in "The Bonfire". It'd be great to make at least one of these. I don't have a dog, but our cat might appreciate it. His name is Wobbler because he can't walk straight. As a bonus, he's huge. Would make for great video. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

  12. Totes. I always dated girls with whom I had some sort of mutual interest. Relationships were short (weeks) and some politics/awkwardness would follow. Now, my girlfriend of three years has nothing in common with me. Opposites truly do attract. Besides, if she jumped, all my friends would like her more than they like me. Hell, every weekend they ask why she isn't at the DZ, and she's never made a jump in her life. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  13. I think it's appropriate. I mean, she looked at your cat! Hell, I think the pregobeat is small beans next to what she really deserves. Man, if someone mistook MY cat for theirs, they'd be wishing they were a model for a Mexican candy ad. Don't take me seriously, ever... Sensitron 3000. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

  17. I only have about 100 RR landings myself, so I'm speaking from more of a "learning with you" standpoint. My verbose observation: It just looks like you carved a little too hard with the rear risers. At about 20s into the video, look at your canopy. Definitely some big time distortion/airflow separation. The center of your canopy cordwise on the right side is a lot lower than the rest of your canopy, and the top skin is taken right out of the airflow. That is, the C attachment points appear to be on level or even lower than the As and Bs -- lower than they should be, at any rate. The exact same thing has happened to me on rear riser carves -- makes a big chunk of the canopy not-so-effective. It's basically a rear riser stall (or close to one) on one side of the canopy. I don't know if you carved for correction reasons, altitude adjustment reasons, or just for fun. For minor corrections, harness is probably the way to go. If it was altitude adjustment, well -- I've just found that getting on the rears sooner and more subtly is the better way to go (also allows you time to evaluate whether or not you'll need to use toggles). My 2¢. Keep on rockin'. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

  19. It's not a bad idea at all. The turn is lower, but the speed is slower. If you realize you need to dig out when you're 20' up, would you rather be going 35mph or 70mph? That aside, the answer to your question is both no and yes. No, the recovery arc of the Sabre cannot be extended. Yes, you can extend your recovery arc. I flew a Sabre 120 loaded at 1.4 for about 400 jumps. Granted, the wingloading is higher, but you can most definitely swoop this canopy. On several occassions, I went the entire length of our 200' pond (or is it 240'?). But you do have to start the turn low compared to modern canopies. It's trimmed very flat, which contributes to its quick recovery arc. I just did 180s, and generally started them at around 300' - 350'. If you really want to start getting better swoops out of whatever is over your head... GET COACHING! Even the Cyber Coaching program works really well (I've done it). Now... my personal advice to be taken with a grain of salt: At
  20. skydivingmovies.com has some. Check out yotbm.wmv and Robi's low pull video. Watch for the white prototype. It's not the PF suit as we'll see it this fall, but it's freaking amazing nonetheless (the final one will probably be better). "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  21. Two updates: ONE: Due to a brilliant suggestion, we're attempting to put together one or two balloon loads on or near the first day of the boogie! TWO: We're waiving the instruction fee for FFCs! You pay your slot, the instructor's slot, and the $10 suit rental. From there, suit rentals are $10 per jump. Hope to see you out here September 10 - 12. And be sure to check out Freedom Jam this weekend at Skydive Oregon. In addition to the hybrids, freeflying competition, and swooping competition, we'll be putting together some flocks. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  22. Cancelled. Same old story -- lots of interest, not enough paid. If you did pay, I'll contact you to promptly issue a refund. Come and play, anyway. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  23. Sweet! It's time for the S3. That's about the best anyone is going to get in a GTi. No -- there is no room for improvement. Hurry up and get your next suit! Nice job! Reportedly as high as 3:1. Watching videos of some of Robi's flights, I believe it. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  24. Well, that was on a more intense suit, as I understand it. If you're in flat spin, balling up works great. If it isn't working great, cutaway your wings. With the suits most of us are flying now (Classic - S3), chopping the wings probably is necessary. This may change with the next generation of "big" suits. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
  25. We do them in Woodburn, Oregon every other week. They're on a weekday, though. Dates get shifted due to the weather, so it might be tough to plan a day off. We generally don't know until the night before if it's 100% a go or not. You'd have to call in sick or late (we get done around 7:00am, so you could get back home before 12, even with traffic). Woodburn is about 20 miles south of Portland. $75, but it's worth it. The area is absolutely beautiful. Let me know if you want in. If the weather cooperates, we've got one scheduled for tomorrow, and then we'll do one in the second week of September. Maybe we could schedule it for Friday, September 10 -- the start of the NW wingsuit boogie. "¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
