Hey Steve, I'm also waiting to here about some feedback on them. They are about 2 weeks away from being available in Australia. I think I'm going to just buy one and do some jumps with it. Cookie

Very interesting to hear this about the 3 chip camera's. Do you think that this will be the case with the new Sony PC1000 3 chip model coming out in April?? I know of a guy in Austria who say he will be getting a PC1000 in a few weeks. Are these camera's available in the states yet?? Cookie

Hi there, I currently have eight new Time Out's in stock. You can have one for $50 Aussie doillars $35 USD Really small in size compared to the first edition. I must have purchased the last remaining Time-Out's before Colin folded Time Out technologies. Unfortunately for me, Colin wouldn't refund my money when they started going off beside the plane. You may get a good one out of the batch. No guarentee's. To the moderator's. This isn't a advertisement. It is just to inform the skydiving public that they shouldn't purchase any of the above companies products as they will screw you over like I have been. Cheers Cookie www.cookiecomposites.com

lenses for pc109--compare diamond vs liquid vs waycool
Cookie replied to ScottMcC's topic in Photography and Video
All the lenses mention are made from the same japanese high quality single element glass. This is a fact!! The housings of the three mention vary in size which ultimately varies the field of view, to a point where vignetting may occur . If you wish to ask me any questions on this feel free to PM me! Cookie *edit cause I spelt ultimate with a "A" dooh!! -
The HC40 is the same width as the PC109 and approximately 3/4inch longer. I personally would side mount it. If your worried about the weight or your openings then put it on the top. Cookie

Me too, Sent a PM to Sangiro so he can ping him

cameye II, hc40 & cookie composites dbox
Cookie replied to freeasabird's topic in Photography and Video
Hey Freeasabird, We take to those boxes with a die-grinder when fitting the cameye. It's cool when your side mounting the box as we also cut a small slot in the helmet to get the cable through etc. You only have to cut a slot the size of the cameye plug so aesthetically speaking it should look nice, Just take your time and measure twice to cut once etc. You can then take you cameye cable straight down into your top mount with a small hole same diameter as the cable. I know this wasn't the response you were looking for but I hope it helps. Cookie -
Yeah Bob, I agree the HC40 is a good camera also. I thinking more along the line of the guys who like the PC upright style camera's and how I don't think that the PC55 will have good skydiving applications. If this makes sense?? Cookie
-
IMO the PC108/109 will become the hot ticket items for small upright PC camera's since the release of the PC55. It wasn't until the PC101/105 came out that we relised how good the PC9 was. This will ring true for the PC108/109 The HC21,31,41 would be my choice over the PC55 for the newer models ie. good bang for your buck and the fitting of a wide angle however the PC1000 looks the goods. I think that the PC350 is more pleasing to the eye than the PC1000. The lens arrangement on the PC1000 sticks out a fairway and has a large diameter (50mm I'm guessing). I would have put a 37mm filter thread on the front of the PC1000 to do away with the need for step rings with generic wide angle lenses. I cant find any info on the PC1000 batteries yet.Has anyone what type they will run?? It seems as that Sony only gave the PC350 a 12 month run also. This may be a another camera that is worth tracking down when the run out model specials come up!! Cookie www.cookiecomposites.com

Non chin cup, low profile camera helmets??
Cookie replied to weegegirl's topic in Photography and Video
Weegegirl, We have a dozen customers that jump side mounted cameras without using a chincup. A flexible helmet shell that allows to open the helmet up to get your head in and when the chin strap is adjusted correctly it pulls the sides of the helmet in without choking you makes for a snugger fit. We have also mounted the camera enclosures low on the side mount. We feel that this can reduce movement on the wearers head. See the attached pic of Buck from "Team Cookie" to give you an idea. Here's a review This is the final video from douggs with some of the best footage so far from some of the coolest cliffs and buildings in the world, set differently to the shovels videos, Mid Strife Crisis is in chapters from different countries including the himilayers, norway, maylasia and many more, it has never before seen promos and a photo gallery of some of his favorite shots taken over the last 8 years, there is a good pisstake of people who use too much slo motion in their videos, so the whole promo is in slo mo. and with the coolest ending ever, you will see some of the years carnage, set to some classicly fitting music. With some of the coolest tunes to date, this is definately his finest work so far, and a great finale to a spectacular carreer. With limited numbers available, this , along with the other shovels videos will fast become classics, so make sure you get a copy.

Here in Australia I never leave home without my hat and sunscreen as skin cancer is our countries biggest killer. Forgive me for my ignorance but I never grew up around guns or people who carry them. So tell me all you guys and girls packing some heat, how do you feel when you leave the house and you have forgotten your weapon? To obtain a pistol liscence in Australia it is easier to join the army and do 10 years with them and when you do get it you can only use it on a range. Our government has removed our right's against self protection!! but like I said earlier the sun is our biggest killer at this point, not saying it wont change.

Just to shed some light on the subject. I personally believe that the resin systems and manufacturing method that is used in the building of a helmet shell has a lot to do with weight verses strength verses overall appearance versus COST!! Each one of the above can be compromised slightly depending on the technique employed. I know Cookiecomposites and Bonehead uses a Autoclave/Vacum Bagging technique. Cookiecomposites uses a Pre-Impregnated Carbon/Epoxy. I thinks Bonehead does the same now. Carbon fibre with epoxy resins is the bee's knee's as far as strength/weight goes. Why some manufacturers charge more is that it is more expensive than fibreglass for one but to get a good carbon fibre finish where all the fibres are nice and straight takes some patience and time, equating to higher production costs. The reason why fibreglass helmets weigh more is that more material is need to stop the helmets from fracturing when stressed. Most fibreglass helmets are ridgid and donot flex easily due to this. Also cheaper/less flexible polyester resins are generally used with fibreglass construction. I not saying it's a bad thing at all using fibreglass for helmet shell's but there is a compromise ie $$ verses weight It's a competative market out there for all us helmet manufacturers. I find this a good thing as our customers will always be demanding and expecting the best. Cookie

Anyone been hit by a hook knife or other debris in freefall?
Cookie replied to jont's topic in Photography and Video
My team and I were competeing at our 2000 Australian nationals. We went up on our official practice jump pryor to the competition. Anyway we were about 3/4's of the way through working time when during the middle of a block my alti flys off. We just kept on going as we wanted to post a good practice round score. I land and our camera guy Simon comes over as says hey Cookie did you lose something, I reply yeah dude my altimeter. He reaches into his jump suit and pulls out my alti. Watching his footage you can see the alti come off and go whistling past him. He say's it basically fell into his hand. As we track off on the video he holds the alti up to the camera, very cool. I purchased 8 units for our local skydiving community thinking that the new models would be cool. Well!! they will suddenly go off on the ground, beside the aircraft and at various times in freefall. In fact I had all 8 units in a bag and swung them around in the air whilst on the ground and they all went off. The dealer will not contact me, I have tried ringing them with no response, emailed them repeatedly. I have basically been screwed by Time Out tecnologies. The skydiving industry is small and this type of customer response is not warranted. Do not deal with this company or there faulty products!

Nice vid, If you see my compardrea's again ie Douggs and Coombsey, tell em I said fuck off and Iam the donkey trainer. Cookie

Well, Just got my hands on a HC40 in white. Very nice camera. The HC40's lens is 4mm higher than the HC20 I have tried our new LIQUID 3 and 5 on it and it runs great. So, we will have a Blackbox HC20,30,40 for it in aproximately 4 weeks if things go to plan. Cookie
-
We are contemplating making a Blackbox for the HC series. Cookiecomposites models our boxes of the camera it'self so here is where my problems lie. The HC40 looks as though the center of the lens is 3-5mm higher than the HC20. We found that the PC109 lens is 3.5mm higher than the PC108 and now have varying Blackboxes to suit each. Because there are fine tolerances in our Blackboxes small variences can make a camera fit correctly or not. I personally would like to make Blackboxes for all styles but unfortunately tooling cost versus sales becomes a issue. Once we get our hands on all the models we will make a decision about design. I think a topmount Blackbox that can also be sidemounted are my thoughts. A question for the HC20 owner's. What stopped you from buying the HC40 was it price or un-necessary features in the HC40? I know a lot of BASE guys wearing openface style helmets. Alot is personal preference or the way you want to mount your video camera ie top or side. Fullface lids have there merit on short delay underhung stuff. "Douggs in Action" http://www.cookiecomposites.com/team.php
