  1. I would like to take a moment to make an apology to the The Golden Knights for a statement I made in a earlier post. Whether I understand it, or not, they do things for a good reason. My wise-crack remark was not meant to criticize, but meant as general statement. Next time I will think before I type.
  2. I believe the officers on the Knights are staff/cadre only; with considerable amount of years in the sport. The NCO's & junior enlisted (E4 & Below) I think are the main competitors and demonstrators.
  3. That sucks. After all that. Why would they make you go through the entire six weeks and send you home like that? That is a mind F*#K if I have ever heard one. At least you got some free jumps out of it.
  4. Do you make it? If so, how was your tour?
  5. Running 3-4 miles, 3 days a week @ 8-9min/mile pace is our norm. Eventually, we want to get between 8-10 miles (same pace). This along with weights 2x a week, and of course, canopy work (accuracy) on the weekends and holidays. Due to the expense of renting student gear (260sqft +) for each jump, we mostly do our accuracy's with our personnel sport rigs.
  6. This year me and a friend will be submitting applications for this year's tryout/selection. Any advice on what to prepare for???????
  7. I did every level except the last on an average of two to three times. My AFF cost a fortune. Hang in there. If want it bad enough you'll get it. Remember: RELAX, RELAX, RELAX.
  8. SkymonkeyOne, Where is good place (web sight, etc...) to find these superbands?
  9. Cool ReLLiK75. Just ordered my complete system as well (Aerodyne Container/Canopy). Can't wait
  10. Even the skydiver with thousands of jumps has a subconsious that is still a little frightened. That keeps you safe and alert.
  11. This sport isn't easy. Why do you think less than 1% of the world's population does it. If it's any consulation, I nearly set the dropzone record for most AFF repeats.
  12. Looking for the DVD version of Crosswind. Anybody know where I can find one????
  13. Yes, 1989-1995: 187 Static Line jumps while with the 82nd Airborne Division and the 297th Infantry Group (Airborne) since diactivated. T10 Charlie, -1 Bravos

    Aerodyne

Hey GravityGirl, An anonymous individual sent me this yesterday: Hi Taz, Hope you don't mind me mailing you directly (Too lazy too get registered on Dropzone.com). I don't think you'll regret your choice. Unfortunately I can't speak from my own experience, but this is some info I got. Apparently the Icon is similar to the Atom Legend (not surprising as one of the Aerodyne guys came from Parachute de France). A lot of people over here are jumping Legends and are really pleased with them. A friend of mine rented a Sabre2 for a few months and ordered one. Because the Sabre had to go back he got a Pilot on loan and yesterday did a lot of canopy control jumps on it. He likes it so much better he is going to try to cancel his Sabre2 and get a Pilot instead. Not that he thinks the Sabre is bad, but he likes the better glide ratio and handling of the Pilot more. The Pilot is trimmed flatter than the Sabre2 and the nose has a more modern design which makes it fly faster (better airfoil). When the canopy is flared the nose will deflect the air from inside the cells to under the canopy, increasing lift (which makes for nice landings). As told by a rigger who's a testjumper and canopy instructor. Hope this puts your mind at ease a bit ;) Kind regards, (Who hopes he won't regret buying a Sabre2)
  15. Cool Synapse. This is the same helmet I got (going on a year now) It'll be hard to part with it when it's time to buy a new one
  16. Going to give the Aerodyne Icon a shot (just ordered).

    Aerodyne

Buyers regret??? nah. All reviews of the product have been positive. Just for giggles and laughs, sometimes I like to see what people say. Your expertise on everything I've been involved with the sport have been right on. NO REGRETS. Thanks Gravity Girl.

    Aerodyne

I've just ordered the new Aerodyne container along with a Pilot 150 and Smart Reserve. Good Choice or Bad Move? All opinions welcomed.
  19. Every once a while I leave my rig (packed of course) in my trunk. Is it safe to leave in there when it's 90+ degrees outside.
  20. Can't wait. Getting there on the 17th of July.
  21. A little unwritten rule at my home DZ: When you get to the ground (overcome with excitement), before any one sees, pull your reserve handle, either that or prepare for an ass chewing.
  22. On some rigs I check to see if the cypress is on myself.
  23. Why take a chance. Get a coach rating before you coach.
  24. I nearly got on a plane with my reserve handle in backwards
