  1. As a point of reference, a HD Ultra Classic weighs in at about 850 lb.'s. Throw in the usual saddle bag stuff- tools, x-tra oil, chaps, rain gear, electric vest, x-tra gloves, water, camera, and you're close.
  2. Even more important than being drunk, however, is having the right car. You have to get a car that handles really well. This is extremely important, and there’s a lot of debate on this subject – about what kind of car handles best. Some say a front-engined car; some say a rear-engined car. I say a rented car. Nothing handles better than a rented car. You can go faster, turn corners sharper, and put the transmission into reverse while going forward at a higher rate of speed in a rented car than in any other kind. You can also park without looking, and can use the trunk as an ice chest. Another thing about a rented car is that it’s an all-terrain vehicle. Mud, snow, water, woods – you can take a rented car anywhere. True, you can’t always get it back – but that’s not your problem, is it? 3. Wow.......impressive! I've never been in that territory. You are treading where I thought only diesels could go ( and still maintain reliability). So for Billy "V" it's 300K or bust (pun intended)
  4. Black is "badass".......nice rig turtle
  5. Nice! Spring can't come soon enough, right? Ok, how many times have you gotten up in the middle of the night and turned on your garage lights and checked on your "baby" just to make sure she was alright (and not a dream) I see your baby is wearing a Klockwerks "Flare" . Brian, is a personal friend, going back to when he moved out of a one stall garage. skygypsie........Enjoy!

Who presides over cross-exam er family discussion's and keeps order in the court er homestead......the acting judge, your son? My ear's are ringing from here, and my eyes are glazing over in legalize speak. Sounds like an interesting situation

  10. garyhugo......An idea that may/may not be applicable to you, is encourage her pursuit of active sports that she likes, whether "bombing" the downhill's on a mountain bike, skiing out abounds in back bowls, martial arts, climbing, water skiing, etc. I don't wish an injury on your wife, but very few active people are able to go through life with a horse shoe up their ass, and if by some remote chance they do, they are likely to get run over by a "blue hair" as they innocently cross the street or some other such catastrophe. Such are life's unpredictability's. The difference is that not all of the above listed activities will kill you. However, if she is active, you both can help each other through your injury time outs, with understanding and tolerance of the extra work load that may be needed till rehabbed. I wish you both well going forward.

  14. Nataly....I agree "nothing is fair in life" and I know tomorrow is not promised to anyone. My point was to suggest a multi-tied system that would take into account the childless people. Not the elimination of paying into (which many childless feel would be " fair") the system. It would not be realistic, and would be not very considerate to the rest of a society as a whole. My agreement with "stumps" suggestion to start your own business was to help "soften" at least some of the real imbalances dollar wise, mentioned by other posters, as well recognizing that a business pays property taxes, income taxes, state and local taxes, assessments for infrastructure , licensees, and fees that find there way into the "collective pool" whether owner/s are childless or not. I personally believe if two people (same/same), who are mentally and physically doing the same job and one produces more, quality control equal and all that, the higher producer should be compensated more (whatever form that takes $, vay-cay, higher position in company, etc.) Nataly, I think a lot of what we are saying about helping our fellow humans is the same. What we may disagree on is amounts, or degrees, and how the disbursement is handled. Perhaps that could be part of cultural differences, or how we were raised, or own personal differing life's experiences, etc..
  15. I will apologize for a slight thread bend.....but not too bad. What always catches my attention in a not so positive way, involves reading your property tax statements. Depending on your property be it residential, commercial, industrial, or farm/ranch, a substantial percentage goes towards schools, even if you are childless. Same is true if you rent, since taxes are a substantial liability to owner. I've always felt this was wrong and should be multi-tiered at a minimum. However, I get "skymama's" point, betterment of society (para-phrasing). Also," John's" point, since illness and accidents can happen to anyone at anytime. But overall, the childless get "pelted" under our current tax system, as well as the above mentioned work place imbalances. Really, the only way to soften the above mentioned situation is" Stumpy's" "start your own business" suggestion. Granted, not easy, scary, costly, completely takes over your life (otherwise you probably won't succeed). But hey, it's your baby/"child" and it's worth it, even if you aren't successful (bottom line $$$'s) the first time. Lessons learned are more practical than most 4-6-8- year degrees IMO. Back to where 30-40% (random...depending on) tax dollars go for people without kids to support kids.....local parks which we probably don't use, recreation areas for families which we don't use, and in some communities local zoo's. We do have the benefit of a much better zoo, and we get to touch the animals, and sometimes pet them but it is very expensive......at our DZ's
  16. Doesnt THIS ONE fit the title of the thread exactly? So do I win? the song is Titled "Polar Opposites" afterall. Yup turtlespeed.........A very strong case for winning.....I would think yes. I would suspect a check or it's equivalent will soon be on the way to you from Billy Vance from all of our combined contest entry fees (minus the usually skimming.....you know "expenses and all" ). What are you going to do now that you have won (waiting for replays and the judges decision) with all that prize money?

  18. oldwomanc6.......I'm not gunning for you on a revenge motivated call here, but......I may have to buzz the judges on that one I goggled it because I remember the song as "White Room" from the Wheels of Fire album. Granted "with black curtains" follows in the lyric's, however, not the song title. Judges....what do you say? I think I heard them say withdraw the twofer
  19. Yes, I stand corrected, Thanks I'm going to pour myself some bourbon as punishment for my error.
