Good catch. Congrats! I've been the idiot student that didn't have my chest strap routed correctly. Got on the plane. Jumped with my JM. My chest strap came undone in freefall. I noticed something was wrong and was getting ready to take a look when my JM grabbed me and my chest strap and showed me the chest strap. I believe the words out of my mouth at that time was "Oh, F&*K! I'm dead." Looked at him, nodded, deployed. Grabbed my harness by crossing my arms and grabbing the opposite side of the harness. Landed. And spent a few minutes on the ground thanking God that I was alive and my JM's skill at holding onto me while I deployed. Since then, I've been anal about checking my chest strap (usually a half dozen times between gearing up and jump run) and those on the load with me. According to the USPA website, SkyDive Greensburg has a wind tunnel. I just looked at their site and sure enough, they do. Has anyone tried it? How does it compare to SkyVenture in Orlando? We pay for our video guy. Each person packs their own rigs. We try to do 2 training jumps on a Wednesday and 3 training jumps on a Saturday twice a month. (This is excluding our regular jumps.) So.... video guy - $18/jump X 5 = $90 / 4 team members = $22.50 (each team member kicks in for Sam) packer = $0 (we are discussing using a packer for our competition days) training jumps = $18/jump X 5 = $90 / week / person Rough total = $112.50 / per person every other week for training Sometimes we do not have video at our home DZ, because our video guys is, also, on staff at the DZ. We, also, will pay for Sam's lunch, etc. while at the competitions. ARG!! Maybe I shouldn't have calculated that. I think I was much better off not knowing. Life is short! Break the rules! Actually, I've always remembered my license #. I've been so thrilled to get each and every one that I had it memorized before I even got the card (thanks to USPA for emailing me my license #'s each time). I'm such a geek with that. I do almost the same thing except I get them to sign the entry right after I log it. I know that if I waited until the end of the day, I'd miss some people or completely forget. Life is short! I only have 121 jumps and enjoy logging them. It's nice to go back and look at how far I've come since my first jump, who I've jumped with (and getting their signatures), where I've jumped, etc. I plan on always logging. Life is short!
