Later this month, a few girlfriends and I are looking at going out dancing in Chicago. Suggestions on places to go? What are the entrance fees like? Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.

The other thing to do is see if there is an instructor or someone an instructor would suggest that will go up with you and allow you to play "Follow the leader" with them. Life is short! Monday funny - Gender of non-living things
ladyskydiver replied to ladyskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Got this sent to me in an email. Haven't seen it here so I thought I'd post it. ***** You may not know that many non-living things have a gender. For example: 1. Ziploc Bags -- They are Male, because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them. 2. Copiers -- They are Female, because once turned off, it takes a while to warm them up again. It's an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can wreak havoc if the wrong buttons are pushed. 3. Tire -- Male, because it goes bald and it's often over-inflated. 4. Sponges -- Female, because they're soft, squeezable and retain water. 5. Hot Air Balloon -- Male, because, to get it to go anywhere, you have to light a fire under it, and of course, there's the hot air part. 6. Web Page -- Female, because it's always getting hit on. 7. Subway -- Male, because it uses the same old lines to pick up people. 8. Hourglass -- Female, because over time, the weight shifts to the bottom. 9. Hammer -- Male, because it hasn't changed much over the last 5,000 years, but it's handy to have around. 10. Remote Control -- Female...... Ha! You thought it'd be male. But consider this -- it gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost without it, and while he doesn't always know the right buttons to push, he keeps trying..... Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile. -

I got bored with my hair and decided to change the color a bit - let the stylist play with the condition that it stays red but not orange - and got 2 inches cut off the length. Definitely was a needed change for me, and the parts that were cut off were just dead ends anyway. Maybe start with something mild - like a good trim and a color change. You can always go shorter later. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.

**knocks on wood** Luckily, I haven't been severely injured. Everyone that I've talked to that has says that you should be able to run and jump before trying to skydive again. Life is short! why no US C130? or C141 or C17??
ladyskydiver replied to Praetorian's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yup you were...from the point of take off...not from the point of boarding etc. Remember you have to add time for the planes to get fueled, organized and loaded if they were running loads in between flying the record loads. I agree with Bill...there would have to be ALOT of organization to get it to fly with out pissing people off. If they did it where it started before the convention, so it didnt run thru the whole convention, then not only would people get to possibly see the record, but then the convention would be left as it is for part as well. Now that'd be cool - or if it was done towards the end of the convention when people start taking off - keep people around a bit longer. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! There's another level than this!?? Holy Crikey!!! Oh, yeah...there's multiple levels of irritation before you get to pissed and then furious. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile. -

Just like you voiced your opinion, Chris, I chose to voice mine. I don't expect to change your opinion on this one, and you will not change mine on this one. Chris, honey...if you think that is worked up...God help you if I ever decide to get worked up. Trust me...there will be absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind if I'm worked up. Life is short! Hopefully you're joking, Chris. As cool as it would be for me to see a record attempt, if I paid the entrance fee into WFFC and was grounded because of the record attempts, I'd be irritated beyond belief. Life is short! Good luck finding something you'd like.

Sad in that we lost dad. Happy in that I had him in my life for the time I did. Dad was an awesome man and was loved very much. My rig now has a memorial/tribute to him sewn on the left side so he goes with me on every jump I do. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. A little more reason why smoking sucks. This will be a semi-long post. Take you back a few years. I went to Alaska in 1986 to visit my grandpa and met this guy who was renting a room. His name was Fred. Awesome guy...got me to laugh, understood a 16 year old kid, ran interference between me and grandpa, one of those guys that no matter what you look up to and love. I go back home to mom and tell her "I've met the guy I want you to marry. I want him as my dad." Fast forward 2 years...mom FINALLY goes to Alaska to visit her dad and meets Fred. They date for 2 whole weeks. And mom comes home to WI. He sends her diamond earrings in the mail and tells her "I'm coming to get you in October and move you here with me." Mom never thought to say no. Her and Fred hit it off that well and she understood why I told her I wanted him as my dad. She moves up in October of 1988 and they get married in December of 1988. Both of them smokers. Ever since I was a kid, I kept trying to get mom to quit smoking. It hurt me to breathe around her and she stunk. As a result of her smoking in the house, us kids stunk too. Fast forward a few years...they have now been married 13 1/2 years and dad goes in for shoulder surgery. When he comes out and as he's healing from that, his stomach blows up - he looks 9 months pregnant. Mom and dad go into the doc and get some tests done. The results - due to smoking, dad developed cancer in the lungs and liver. He went through chemo and did everything possible to get rid of it. Unfortunately, it didn't work. The cancer, also, spread to his brain. Those who loved him had to watch him suffer due to the cancer caused by smoking. We had to watch a man we loved so very much apologize to us for "Not being the dad/husband/etc. that I used to be." We kept telling him that no apologies were necessary, we loved him anyway. We almost lost him at Thanksgiving - too many people around and his fever spiked. We were told he wasn't going to come out of the hospital alive. When my mom was finally told, I turned to her and said "I want a promise from you. I want you to quit smoking because I do not want to go through this again with you in a few years." Mom promised me that she would and that January she did. Dad kept promising he'd quit - but never had the ability to. They kept telling me that if he managed to quit smoking and survive the cancer, they would both go for a tandem jump. So, on the hopes dad would, I did a tandem so that I could tell them it'd be ok and they'd like it. Unfortunately, one cold Monday morning at 12:35am on August 5th, I received the phone call I dreaded and prayed would never happen. The man that I loved enough to call dad had died. My mom lost her husband of 14 1/2 years. Fast forward 2 years...mom still at times cries and so do I. Is smoking worth putting your family through this? Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.

No apology necessary. As Wendy said, it's a great poll and some interesting discussion has resulted. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile. -
Elsinore is an awesome DZ. You'll have no issues finding the landing area nor the big "X" that they have for a marker. And, there are a ton of outs. Michele, Shark, and a few others here on DZ.com can help you out and calm you down. You'll enjoy every second there. The scenery is, also, gorgeous! Mountains on both sides and a lake - beautiful!!!

Good luck, Lisa! Drive safe and have fun.
