  1. the CX-150 works great. Has EIS. it is out of production and you'll have to get one off ebay. got a new in box one for $269 the only gripe about it is the card access is on the bottom. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  2. No way. There a lot of good information on SDR for students and novices. Listen and learn. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  3. Wow! I wonder how the rig manufacturers will handle this one? If it goes anything like the Argus ban, this could be HUGE! Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  4. landed my 26' lopo w 4 line release. was surprised to have a nice easy stand up. Of course, this was back when I weighed a mere 160 lbs. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  5. My new Vector in 1988 had a reserve ripcord like that (not a tandem). The reserve closing pin was at the end of the RSL. Pulling the reserve ripcord pulled the rsl lanyard and hence the pin. Worked ok but wasn't used for very long. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  6. Done. That's 892 so far. Long way to go. Email this link to your friends Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  7. Our instructors recommend that students get video. We charge $45 for AFF video (compared to $90 for tandem). That's basically a slot plus $20. No fancy editing, no DVD disk, just dump it to flash drive or post on You Tube. Example here: (usually no music or titles) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXMfmRcuRkA&feature=related Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  8. I got the error 6 on my 2 year old Vigil 3 days before Couch Freaks last year. One phone call to Deland and there was a brand new unit on my doorstep the next day, no charge, even before I returned my unit to them. Vigil rocks. I own 2 of them. After my last Cypress "expires", I'll own 3 Vigils. My $ 0.02 Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  9. I found a 16mm film called NOW ITS SKYDIVING. Its from Skydive Orange and was filmed by Lew Sanborn (D-1). There's no date but it looks like early 1960's. So I had it digitized and have uploaded it to You Tube. You can check it out at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h63RL7G7oQ0 Enjoy! Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  10. I just got a CX-150 on eBay for $269 including postage. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  11. We assume students are going to make mistakes, otherwise they wouldn't be students. Maybe we should train them on the ground, let them jump without instructors and say its their fault when they die. This is the rigger's fault. Mis-rigging the AAD is just as bad as leaving a temporary pin in the reserve. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  12. I agree. But what is a CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME? Maybe the expiration should be 5 years... or 2 years. or 10, or 20. How do you decide? Now if all of the Cypress's or Vigils start displaying error codes after a certain amount of time, then that could be a basis for setting the lifetime. Lot's of good Cypress's are being retired without a single hiccup after 12 years. I buy Vigils now. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  13. Ditto. I used to own 2 Cypress's. I now own 2 Vigils because I had to throw away 2 perfectly good Cypress's. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  14. My 2nd (and last) mal was 1979. 26' lopo with 4 line release, did a nice stand up in an astonished woman's driveway. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  15. Was in the Air Force but joined the local civilian DZ (Alamo Skydivers, San Antonio Tx, 1975). The best part was being eligible to join the Ft Hood Sport Parachute Club and do sport jumps from UH-1 helicopters........for free! Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  16. Having been skydiving for 35 years, my answer to you is this: skydiving never gets old, it keeps you from getting old (or acting old), and blesses you with the greatest friends you'll ever find. Welcome to your new life! Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  17. Yup. Used to be WFFC in august, Couch Freaks Labor Day. WFFC is gone but Couch Freaks is still happening. Be there Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  18. 15 static line jumps 1975-76. Just couldn't get stable. Finally did a clear and pull on #16. Then of course my wife takes the FJC, does 2 s/l, 3 drcp, and a hop n pop on #6, all just to make me look bad Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  19. Nobody explained why they thought it was dangerous. It makes me nervous to mess with a reserve flap. There's probably extremely low potential for entanglement with pilot chute or bridal or interefere with the rsl. But if it ever happens one time, I'll bet they'll all be removed. Who'd have thought you could have a main/reserve entanglement from a hair braid? Talk to Merriah Eakins about that one. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3662877;search_string=hair%20braid;#3662877 Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  20. Quincy was awesome, including the Roger Nelson DC-3 days. Miss you WFFC Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  21. FXC12000? Interesting choice. Was he jumping a Paracommander too? Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  22. Congratulations on your jump! Kiss your old life goodbye. You are now a skydiver! Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  23. Nice work! Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  24. Nope, wasn't me. Hoy and I were watching the Youtube video last night. We were laughing so hard we thought we'd share it with the dz.com crowd. Though you'd get a chuckle out of it. Guess I didn't see the lynch mob lighting up their torches. Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
  25. OMG! So what do you say to your buddy when you pull his cutaway handle on exit? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yVUJU113gg&feature=email I laughed until I cried! Doc http://www.manifestmaster.com/video
