I know this question has been visited a few times but I am not sure if it has been done since the new security rules have been in place. so has anyone managed to carry on with Ryan since since the new hand luggage bollocks came in. From the truly well written article by a person who has clearly spent a great deal of time in and around the UK: Bollocks. Utter, utter bollocks. Would you like me to repeat that? Bollocks. Having just wasted 15 minutes of my life reading what essentially constitutes nothing more than a glorified book review, in which the writer of the article has taken all of the information in the book at total face value having done no research to verify it, I am truly surprised that you even bothered to post it. Do you honestly read these things and believe them or do you have the capacity to believe they may just be someone’s slanted view on life? This article is one person’s review of another person’s view of an aspect of a country. The author has basically laundered the unsubstantiated information contained in the book to make it sound like definitive facts to his readers. It truly staggers me that some people in the US can be so down on a system that they know so little about and that an article like this can then be used in an argument on an internet forum - banded around like it was fact. What is it in the psyche of these people that gets them such gratification by attempting to demonstrate their perceived superiority over another country in such a way, and peddle their sycophantic, self promoting, denigratory diatribe as the unadulterated truth. It is not an ideal situation. My guess as to why he cut away is that it looks like the two canopies were starting to seperate and he may have been worried about a down plane occuring. As he turns right at the start it is not clear if he is using the risers or toggles but they definitely start to shift. I am not condoning his actions, just pointing out there is often more to it than appears. If this had gone into a downplane at 100 feet he wouldn't have walked away. He did walk away. As long as people realise that cutting away a stable biplane is wrong then he has survived an incident, hopefully learnt from it and we should move on and not slam him too much. It is a great DZ but there is pretty much nothing to do in Kolomna and surrounds if you are not jumping. Therefore take DVD's, books, PSP etc. just in case the weather goes south. I would recommend going for the upgraded room in Hotel kolomna (if that is where you are staying) as it is less like a Romanian orphanage and only go in the lift one by one unless you wish to spend 30 minutes in the dark in a lift with no one who speaks English on the end of the crackly intercom. In Moscow I would recommend going to Cafe Pushkin for dinner - is is moderately pricey but very good. We also went to a Banya which was a good laugh and very Russian but not recomended for the shy. It is kind of a sauna, swimming pool, birch beating place for blokes. Sounds odd but was pretty chilled out and relaxing I would honestly say that unless you are a real keen tourist 3 days in Moscow may be too much - We managed the main sights in a day and still had time to visit some more salubrious places.
