Ok - so what do we have to call him now? Cool cat? Nope - how about Way Cool Cat!

Ok, I'm a wimp. A tornado just touched down at McCain, NC. About 10 miles from Raeford DZ, which makes it 9 miles from my house. Trouble is, I work in McCain. The largest and only employer in McCain aside from one gas station, a few small churches and a motorcycle junk yard is NC Dept. of Corrections. I hope all my guys are ok there! Yep! Thanks! Forgot all about it. It will pay for "date night" this Wednesday if we can get out.

Mouth - Glad you made it safe from Raeford back home. Wish I had met Bytch while she was here - we just kept missing each other. Guess she'll have to come back to Raeford! We are presently getting the remnants of the storm. Already 1.7 inches of rain (Yea, a windmeter on the roof was not enough, I had to have a rain guage added. Some would call me a weather geek, most just call me a skydiver.), tornado watches, the worst yet ahead. I won't be worried about rushing to the DZ school in the morning!

The DesMoines Skydivers rock! I am sooo sad that I will not be there this year. Between school, work and business, no time, no money, no fun! Please freak a little for me. Looks like we will be having the effects of Hurricane Frances over for dinner that weekend instead.

Yep, I'm hangin around. Can't make as many jumps as I'd like. Finances at the home front are a wee bit tight over the last 10 months. But I'm here to stay.

I don't know the situation or you and your wife, but the counseling and second try is a great idea. Best wishes.

Ditto When I was made a skymonkey, this point was made very clear. Skymonkey Kate

Who's going to the CouchFreaks Boogie??
Raefordite replied to atsaubrey's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I am soooo sad I will miss Couch Freaks this year. I'm returning to school this August. With work, school, business, home, there is no time for Couch Freaks this year. Freak a little for me this year. I hope to be back next year! -
The funeral will be at: St. James Lutheran Church 1424 Morganton Rd Fayetteville, NC 28305 910-484-8052 It is not yet clear if the family will have the funeral on Sunday July 11th or Monday July 12th. Slotperfect will post as soon as the family decides. God bless you Carlos, your family and friends. We will miss you at Raeford school. You were always a professional with students, willing to learn yourself, always a shoulder to lean on when a staff member or friend needed you and had a wonderful sense of humor. Rest in peace my friend.

http://www.discoverfayetteville.com/ http://www.homeofgolf.com/home/index.asp These two sites might help! I hope you DO plan to skydive while you are in town. Stop by and say hi.

Hang in there girl! And listen to your doctor. The talus does not have the "best" circulation to it, so don't rush it and it will heal fine. Best of luck and start a piggy bank for those skydives when you are healed.

Raeford Parachute Center July 3-4th....
Raefordite replied to DaGimp's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Well you got your wish! This is a copy of what I sent out to our group. See you soon! Ok! The vote was to go to Louisburg and join Carolina SkySports. Please follow the below link to see their DZ. Please make a reservation immediately at the below information for the Hamptom Inn. Rates are $59 per night for a king bed or double beds. I got the rate reduced to $53.10 plus tax with a AAA membership. Tony & I will be leaving Sunday, but the boogie continues through Monday July 5th. I will ask Tony to write up directions to the DZ from Raeford. Plus we need to see if some want to car pool together. Ladies - check out the camp for women........ Raeford Parachute Center July 3-4th....
Raefordite replied to DaGimp's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Do you believe it? Gene Paul is taking his aircraft to Pikeville, Kentucky. That is where his family is from. Of course his leased aircraft is still flying, but his own home DZ customers and school are out of luck. It really hurts us (the school) to be closed that weekend. But with every situation we are trying to look on the bright side. We were looking to go to Skydive Coastal Carolina as DaGimp posted. However, I just learned that Southport has a huge 4th of July festival that attracts thousands. As a result all the motels/hotels are booked or at least $150 a night. Plus with so many others traveling to the same spot - it makes restaurants and driving less enjoyable. So---- we are looking into other alternatives. I'll keep you posted where we end up!! -
Be sure to talk to your instructors about your fears. They are better prepared to help you with them if they are aware of your concerns. Over the years I have had students that have had panic attacks, severe fear of airplanes, severe fear of heights and a few more stranger ones. They have all successfully jumped. Some are regular skydivers and some just did it that one time. Best wishes and keep us posted as to your next skydive!

http://www.jumpraeford.com/history.htm Slug - no problem here! I see nothing wrong with asking for a little clarification now and then. I didn't mind responding. The above link is our "about" page on our web. That is where I list the USPA group membership, etc, etc, thing. blue skies -
Dang girl! You just left Raeford where we manufacture some great body armour! I'm sure someone around this town could have hooked you up before returning to the classroom.

Does anyone here have a Jacaranda tree around there house?
Raefordite replied to Viking's topic in The Bonfire
http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Bignoniaceae/Jacaranda_mimosifolia.html I found this about your tree. I just had a major fire through our property and part of our home. In the rebuilding, I am looking at replacing some lost trees. I had a beautiful Albizia julibrissin (silk tree, mimosa) that I would love to replace with a Jacaranda. However I am in zone 7-8, and recommended zones are 9 - 10. I may be too cold in the winter. Anyone have any ideas to support or deny this? -

Raefordite replied to Raefordite's topic in The Bonfire
I am a group member. I do own and operate Raeford Parachute Center. However we are only the DZ school. Raeford Aviation (who is not a USPA group member) owns and runs the aircraft and jump business at PK Airpark. The story is a little complicated (as the prop turns). I pay for slots on the aircraft just like everyone else. Each business at PK Airpark is independently owned ( the gear store/loft, restaurant, DZ school).
