  1. So what? Our standard of living here is different to either Canada or the USofA, that has ZERO to do with our sports governing body. Fuel alone here is more than 2x that of the USofA. Do you work for your National Association? NO I have no affiliation other than a member. But I don’t piss and moan about things I consider fair and reasonable. Our jump tickets are expensive, that has nothing to do with our APF. The APF membership fees are not exorbitant, and they allow me to jump as an FAI affiliate almost anywhere in the world. Im fine paying 4 jump tickets a year for that (and the liability insurance). You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
  2. i would think so as to not duplicate forums, but can the archive old DZ.com BASE forum be opened in a read only manner? You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
  3. And that is perfectly fine Ian, but i would hope that if an experienced HP canopy coach had that opinion, then the DZCI would put a stop to said jumper using that canopy at their DZ. Like I said, if, as a DZ you allow a practice, then support that practice with coaching and education. It would appear that this DZ in question (and i have no clue what DZ it is) is allowing someone jump a canopy that many consider to be too small for the jumper. therefore provide educational support and coaching guidance in flying that canopy. 4. Like i said find another coach, because he is obviously NOT getting a different canopy. Im not talking hypotheticals here. The DZ allows him to jump the canopy, given that, allow coaching. Or dont allow him to jump the canopy there. You can t have you cake and eat it too. Either help the guy or stop the guy. Dont stand back and say, Not my problem. 5. If that coach wont work with you find another and Id say BETTER coach. IF you vare staying on a canopy that many think is inappropriate it is in EVERYONES interest to make sure you are properly trained on it. Seriously dude find someone who WILL help you out on the finer points. WOW?? I'd be interested in hearing the canopy coaches take on this?? My guess is, we haven't heard the whole story here. But, let me take a wild guess.... Could it be, the Coach wanted you to get coaching on a more appropriate canopy before you killed yourself on a canopy you have no business flying? I've got $20 at 10:1 that says I'm right... any takers????

  10. I understood it perfectly. maybe there's a fault in YOUR translator. Or you could try contributing something more constructive to the thread topic. Hey LeadBall, can you give us some idea of how you are doing your canopy progression, I was chatting with Vader on the weekend about how our sport is only here BECAUSE of people who pushed conventional boundaries. So my question is are you a dedicated HP canopy pilot, committing time and effort into learning HP piloting on dedicated jumps, getting coaching and focussing mostly on HP piloting or are you flying your canopy and doing HP landings at the end of normal full altitude jumps, and learning as you go (self-taught so to speak). OR is it a mix of both? You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
  11. Australia and most of Europe are the Nanny States. This happens where governments allow parachute associations to be regulatory agencies. Just say no to Nanny States. So far both USPA and CSPA have no regulatory functions. You don't need to belong or follow their rules to open a DZ. You can keep your coherent enforcement. The only people who benefit are bureaucrats who get jobs paid for by exorbitant membership fees that are mandatory in those countries. And costs that keep skydiving pretty much an upper middle class activity. LOL you obviously don't know many aussie jumpers not that many are "upper middle class" Our yearly membership for me was $170 this year (4 jump tickets) not to "exorbitant" in my world You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! 14. in 10.5 years of jumping in different countries around the world NOT ONE Dz has asked for wingload info. Only 2 have ever asked what canopy I fly (both at boogies and both in OZ). The most I have had at any other DZ is a Repack card check, not even a look to see if the rig is airworthy. 18. the flippy lens asking which is better is used to refine near sighted reading. Presbyopia is a condition that oldies like me get, the flippy lens helps determine if I need reading glasses aswell as normal specs.(or miultifocal lenses) in Presbyopia the lens of the eye losses some of it flexibility for fine tunning your sight up close. not sure what machine could assess that. All the above is my limited understanding of it and may well be total bollocks. Pregrinerose, is an Opto Doc, maybe she can better explain it You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
