  1. I'll be there Thursday nite to Sunday morning, and I'm bringing Luminous with me! Took him on his first flight 2 weeks ago! -Jenn
  2. If anyone wants to come out early we'll be flying Friday afternoon starting at 1:00.
  3. So far i've heard from Waller and Temple regulars, and I have 2 interested in the first flight course. Anyone else comming to play??
  4. Looks like 2k @ SSM and 9k @sdh this morning. Sorry guys, I'd love to see y'all, but I'm not driving that far to sit on the ground Hopefully y'all can make it to Waller March 5-6
  5. I've never owned anything but trucks! Maybe it is Texas (tho I got my 1st truck in NY) but I never had any probs or felt outa place in it
  6. I had to cutaway after unzipping my arm wings last Nov. (I thought I could get out of linetwists but didn't make any progress by 2k', open @ 3.5k') The wings did not get in the way of my handles because I found them while still under my malfunctioning main, but one wing did catch my reserve as it went by. End result was tiny line burns on my wing, but no real damage. -Jenn
  7. Last time i talked to him he was on his way to visit family, then was going to be working out of state for 2-6 months. He might be back sometime this spring.
  8. Under, but only because the cat unrolls it less
  9. New (to me) Vector 3 and GTi from the b/f! Best x-mas ever!!
  10. Today I (manifest) got calls from 3 people who bought skyride gift certificates but were told they were buying them from Skydive Houston in Waller. We do not accept these, and I feel bad for the people whose x-mas will be less than perfect due to this. I don't think there's anything we can do besides the complaint that was already filed against skydivinghouston.com, the skyride website that is stealing our traffic. How do we get the people answering their phones to stop lying about their location??
  11. As of right now Skydive Houston is only planing to be closed this week thru Christmas, and Jan. 1.
  12. I was thinking of adding wingtip grippers to my GTI and was wondering what everyone else has done that worked well? Pictures would be great! -Jenn
  13. PM sent, let me know if you need anything else.
  14. Hey Everyone! The wingsuits we ordered last fall are here and this weekend is going to be perfect weather! Come flock with us ($15 twin otter jumps) -Jenn
  15. Houston's supposed to be sunny and mid 60's, but the lower parts of the landing area might still be a bit wet from the floods this week!
  16. I know a lot has been posted about which rigs are wingsuit friendly or offer birdman mods, but I can't find anything on the new icon harness/containers. I have to get a new rig, and soon, due to a main lift web partial failure on my Vector v2-2 from 1992 and was wondering if anyone has anything good or bad to say about the icon? If you would like to cover any other reserve-pilot-chute-enclosed rigs (Vector 3M, Mirage G3 or G4), I'd love to hear your opinions. I would be freeflying in this rig as well. Thanks in advance.
  17. Now you've jinxed yourself! Better go knock wood I was saying just last week how I was surprised I hadn't had to chop in my wingsuit yet and how i tend to have mals in Nov.!
  18. SkymonkeyONE is correct. It's normal and probably just a quick for me to unzip. And BTW, I'm Jenn.
  19. I was too high on the 2 stack, but turned around and had a great flyby with one of the guys lurking the formation.
  20. I'd had worse twists than that, and i thought i had enough altitude to get out of it. My 2nd Birdman flight i counted 12 or 14! Oh well, lesson learned. I don't know what was different about these twists or why i couldn't undo them, other than the slider in the middle of the mess instead of above or below.

    Bengal Cats

My little one's 1/2 bengal and she's a sweetheart! She's 4 yrs old (I've had her just over 3 yrs) and can get very feisty when she plays! She's never shown any interest in standing water or playing fetch(at least not the return part), but she does like dripping water faucets and hunting lizards and big bugs. It took a lot of work to try to train her to not scratch the furniture or bite while she's playing (not really trained yet). I think a cat's temperament has much more to do with it's environment and people than it's breed. When I got her she was very afraid of people since she'd been abused and she wouldn't play or eat, but now that she has a loving home and a kitty playmate she's quite happy.
  22. After a beautiful almost-sunset birdman jump with the Crewdogs last Sunday I flew off and pulled just below 4K. I had a slightly faster/harder opening than usual, but not really remarkable. I opened with 6 or 8 linetwists starting right above my risers, with the slider stuck in the middle. The canopy was flying straight and level, but backwards. I unzipped my arm wings to reach the risers and attempted to kick out of it, but by the time I reached 2k I had not undone any twists! (Normally if I have linetwists I will be untwisting under my canopy even before I can free my arms) I said bye-bye to my main and pulled my reserve handle. I deployed my reserve on my back/left side due to the open right arm wing catching air and putting me into a barrel roll when I put my right arm over my head to stabilize for deployment. My reserve opened quickly, but smoothly and on heading. The rest of the dive was uneventful as I attempted to watch where my gear would land while undoing my booties and trying to assure an on DZ landing. I flared my raven-m too hard and laid myself out on my back, but was luckily uninjured. (so glad I always wear a helmet!) The next day my rigger called to tell my there was wear on the main lift web and damage to the stitching on the main lift web. (My guess is the main opening caused the damage to my rig, or the damage caused the unusual opening.) I found a few wear marks on the right arm wing of my suit too, I’m guessing from the reserve going by as it opened. Next time I have any doubt about my main being landable I’ll use the wing cutaways to maintain control over my arm wings in the event of returning to freefall! My second cutaway went well, all things considered, and I was very happy to see the world from 1700’ under my fully functional reserve instead of 800’ like my pre-second! Thanks to Scott for bringing back all my gear almost before I could go looking for it, and of course to Catfish for packing a great opening on my reserve!
  23. Wanted to bump this up to the top and add we have 2 local birdpeople, and at least 1 coming to visit this weekend. Come flock with me!! And don't forget free food and BEER Saturday night!!!
