I was scared as hell jumping again after my injury. Actually felt physically sick from fear, and kept asking myself, "Why am I doing this?" Just watched the Bakersfield Condors whip the Long Beach Ice Dogs(west coast hockey league).The score was 4-1.When the Condors end a game with 4 points total,every fan in attendance gets 4 Krispy Kreme donuts.Attendance was over 6000.Thats over 24,000 friggin donuts (absolutely pointless post) just felt the need to share that for post # 250 Our goalie even punched out an Ice Dog,dig THAT !!! dropdeded pcss#26 ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -

Im real close to gettin "back at it" and I know there are several dot commers grounded due to injuries right now.Im wondering how an injury affected other skydivers as far as that first time back in the air and beyond. I imagine that last few hundred feet under canopy will probably be an interesting experience for me.My injury(low turn,broken leg)has been a blessing,even in the moments after I biffed the landing I was thinking that I learned a valuable lesson,cheap.I heard how dangerous low turns are and its not that I didnt believe it,I just didnt realize how fast that shit can happen. This in no way will deter me from participating in this sport but I imagine it has caused more than a few people to stop jumping all together.So if you have been injured,how did it affect you on that first jump?Did it change your outlook on the sport ? dropdeded pcss#26 ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -

YO dropdeded, hows the physical therapy going? Still in some pain and discomfort?, same here. I really screwed up some nerves in my foot. Man, I hope you get better soon and can get back in the air. Keep an eye on that picnic table, I know I am, Doc says I can start trying to jog come the 12/01/02. ------------------------------------------------------------ Well Chile(got it this time,E not I),Im really in a kinda confusing situation as far as gettin back at it.I was in a cast 6 weeks,went for x rays,told me to give it 2 more weeks.Went back and got x rays 2 weeks later and they took it off.Said I could go back to work monday(4 days later).The Doc said no need for physical therapy,just take it easy for awhile.OK,good deal.Told her I would need a doctors ok to resume skydiving so she wrote,"no skydiving for 2 weeks".The 2 weeks was up last thursday.The back of my calf (was small bone,2 clean breaks)aches like a son of a bitch sometimes.I guess it could be the muscle and that will get better.What bugs me is that my ankle has gotten steadily more painful.Dont know if it was fractured in any way or what but I know it hurts.It may be the cold,damp weather we got goin here in Bakersfield.(50s in the morning,brrr). I went for orientation friday and I start classes monday and with my courses(medical emergency management)I dont think it will happen if end up with another cast if thats the problem with the ankle.Pretty friggin lame excuse as far as causing permanent damage but Im gonna give it a little more time before I head to the ortho again. As far as bein signed off to jump,thats a done deal but if I DO jump right now,it would pretty much be a "DUMB" deal.Im thinkin I will be jumpin off picnic tables at the park next week,I hope. On those jumps break off started at 6500 feet. Just got the November Issue of SKYDIVING.The picture on the cover is the 131 way from JFTC.What would the approx. altitude be in that picture ?To my lowtimer eyes that looks pretty low.If you have the issue,could you give an approx. guess as to the altitude ??What is the breakoff alt. for a bigway of that size?With 26 jumps to my name,Im under canopy by the time the ground looks that close. dropdeded pcss#26 ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -

Im lookin at 2 months and a day since I biffed and broke my leg.Cast has been off 2 weeks and the somebitch still hurts.Waiting til I can run painless(as suggested here) and Im jumpin the 280 again.Hoping next week if I can afford it.Have fun

Michele,I had a cat for 17 years that has lived with my mom for the past 10 years.I dont really consider myself a "cat person" ,but,When we have a companion,like a cat,that has been around for any period of time,it is not easy to see them hurting,especially when they are old.It is a member of the family.I sincerely hope all goes well with your little bitch kitty,and you too. dropdeded pcss#26 ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
