  1. Rosa - Nice icon. Finally a clear pic of your face. And, by the way, everyone in the tunnel looks good regardless of sweat. Like little babies learning to walk - so excited and open. If I have a 2 way, it's usually freefly instead of RW. But as far as it being like sex, well, there are three things that pull me in and completely occupy my focus to exculsion of other stuff - skydiving, climbing and sex, and skydiving and sex require others to participate. That intensity is very important to me and I'm fortuneate to have a few activities that give me that 'total' enjoyment. But your description is compelling, feel free to write like that all you want I am very sorry to have missed you and Turtlespeed and the other dz.commers by only a few weeks. However, we did come up with a friend's wife and because of you, we always just 'happened' to go along with her when she went alone at night. (although she would likely have done more damage than gotten as her uncle had taught her many Marine tricks and few other dirty ones in dealing with perverts). Honestly though, thanks for that - see how you help even strangers? ... 2. BK - I already freefly, but what these people were doing whas top level acrobatic stuff. To compare them to 4-way, I'd say they were equivalent to the teams doing 16 point averages and up to the world class teams. It was absolutely glorious. You are right, super friendly. I'm sure if I'd brought my 'baggy' jumpsuit (you know, the tie-dye one with no booties?) that most any of them would have gone right in with me just to show me some things. "Usually" the best people in a skydiving discipling can be super supportive. ... 3. Three of us in the Midwest just got back from tunnel camp. Unforetunately, no pics like Rosa had, yet. The tunnel is so much better than last year with the stronger fans, (bring weight belts) and the new plexi layout. We didn't take our own pics, but the camp did and I'm waiting to post them. On Saturday night, about 20-30 freeflyers (I'm only a passable headdowner and sit flyer) all got together and did a competition/gettogether. MY GOD!!! This was a great crowd of people, super friendly.

  5. I'm with Dave on this one. If anyone brings a paintball gun on a dive, I want to know so I can sit that load out. I want to pilot to know so he can kick off the paintballers. rant This isn't for the crew forum anyway is it? Maybe for under the swooping and canopy control forum. Mostly, I'd say it's just for new jumpers who don't want to get good in some kind of freefall discipline (FF, RW, etc) and just want to goof off. These guys ONLY do tubes and horny gorillas and after RW jumps the first thing out of their mouths is "at least we had fun". AAckk. Yeah I know the type that would love a paintball dogfight. ... 9. So the Berkeley people are pretty relaxed, huh? Hey Rocket, when the car stops and sits in the cross walk, just walk straight through and across the hood of their car. When the driver gets mad, just turn, smile, and show him your pack of Mentos. He'll just smile and shake it off. TV taught all of that just a decade ago. ... 11. Not true. No calculus needed for the "estimate". Just delta y/delta t work. But the last part does require a simple derivative. The question also says compare your estimate to the velocity. So the derivative of the y(t) equation is needed to get the actual velocity. The point is to show the student that taking the derivative is quick and easy. Much easier that doing the 'estimate' technique of the limit of delta t as t goes to zero. By doing both techniques and comparing, the point is made if the student is paying attention. The funny parts of this post is the discussions about what is the gravitational constant. It's not needed as the the y(t) equation is already provided in the question. So no one needs to do the integrals. (It's a math class, not a physics class). ... 13. That's a nice reply. Seriously. First, though, let's simply say "If people with money only gave to those charities that they felt were worthwhile" for whatever reason and leave it at that. No need to hide in the statement the "that benefits them", it's assuming a greed that's not founded even though all charity is self gratifying for different reasons to different people. So I could attribute selfishness to the whole mass regardless of political leanings (or sprintings). Your answer is clear that you don't think people are smart enough to do the right thing in terms of giving on a socially responsible scale. I do. That's a fundamental difference in how I personally view the debate. I know it's simplified, but sometimes things are simple - if you let it be. Politicians push different social programs for VOTES, not from altruism. We can take care of business without the beaureaucrats and likely do it better and more cost effectively. that's all ... 14. Good point M - I can't find the link, but there's a story out there about the counties voting republican giving more to charity than the counties voting Dem in the last pres election. Someone help out here with a link, I'm sure there was a post. Anyway, a faceless government 'giving' charity to those who 'demand' it does not "better society". It hurts society. Perhaps the only benefit in charity is when it's direct and personal so those receiving understand it's a gift, not a right and perhaps try to improve their own lot as a result. Charity should be voluntary. It's not a matter of wanting to greedily keep your own money, it's a matter of having the 'choice' to direct your money where you want, not some government official. That's the Big Brother I'm worried about. And the rich liberals don't believe in giving away their own money, they believe in policies that require everyone to give, even to causes they don't believe in. ... Again - FUNNY!! Democrats don't like Republican because they are scared of "Big Brother" Republicans don't like Democrat because they are scared of "Big Brother" The more I understand about both parties the less respect I continue to find for them both. I still consider repulican to be the lesser of two bad choices. At least I get to keep my income and use it for my family and myself and locally instead having it taken and given to people (most) and programs (most) who don't need it or don't deserve it or abuse the same so that those who do need it (no one "deserves" it) can't get it. ...
