Dixie/BikerB - Wheel of Time is getting very slow after a great start (1st 5 or 6) and he has alienated many of his customers with the last 4 moving slower and slower. I think one more book is out in February and if I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel at that point, I'm giving up on it. That's too bad because of the time invested in the series. There's a prequel also according to Amazon, if this is the next book, then I'm definitely stopping without reading it at all - Wasting time to write a prequel when losing your fan base is just stupid. Funny, the Gunslinger series King writes that at his initial rate on this series, it would have completed in just over 300 years (wrote this in his third books preface). Well, King has finished the story and the last two books of the 7(?) book series are scheduled for release. While guys like Jordan well I hoped he milked this one enough to retire on the royalties - I wouldn't start a new series with his name on it. ... Don't mind if I do. Thanks. Still don't consider boobies to be genitals, but good for you if you want to (actually, appreciate even putting the word in to make Ivan happy). Females have genitalia but they're different than ours . Try and get out more or ask your parents about it. Seriously, the do not call thing was a good idea and got trashed. But the congress excepting charitable orgs was a pile of poo. If I don't want solicitation, then I don't. that's simple. They could have made it a categorical type of system where the consumer chooses what types of calls to block. Let's see how they wobble on this related issue. ... I like what Reagan did. But I don't think we should be spending tax money changing stamps and coins and etc. It's a waste of resources and usually done to placate some group. Give me that tax money back. Although changing the 20 to make it harder to counterfeit. That does make more practical sense. ... Excellent choice!! Agree, excellent. Especially the first 3. Also, The Dragon Reborn Series (Robert Jordan) and the "Sword of Truth" series (Terry Goodkind). They are similar plot lines, both good, the Goodkind series is a little more adult in the writing. Try the Julian May series starting with The Many Colored Land and the Golden Torc and ending with Jack the Bodiless. That's my favorite of all time. It's more SciFi than Fantasy though. 9 books total in the series. And the Gunslinger series (Stephen King). Even if you don't like King, this is still excellent and also a fantasy/western/adventure mix. For adults also. ... General comments. Thanks Arlo for the 1st hand info. See you in April. I love these threads. "It's not the same because of [insert anal nitpick here]". Look up the RW forum and you'll see a ton. As a training device, just like any other, you get out of it what you choose to get out of it. If you don't expect anything from it, don't waste your time (also, just as well not dirt dive or creep either though for the same reason). If you can see the benefit, then it's great. About as good a tool as any I have ever experienced. For those that say you can't simulate exits, tracking. True, not directly. But by being a better flyer and having more experience in redirecting air, you will be better at exits and tracking even if you never 'practice' this in a tunnel. As far as canopy flight, I've never seen any advertisements that the tunnel helps, but some of the Tunnelcamp coaches can give some great advice on canopy control while you are there........ If the tunnel time was frustrating after a 10 minute session, I'd say that's indicative of someone who needs more time than 10 minutes and maybe a little coaching. That small tunnel does a ton to highlight issues for new as well as VERY experienced people. It's humbling, so leave the ego at the door and you'll be surprised at the benefit. and so on, and so forth, ... No, but if people outside are big enough asshats, the tunnel air can be cigarette scented And at night, it's definitely mosquito flavored (wear a full face and avoid an all white suit if you can). ... oh - some people just tie up the legstraps and handles and carry the rig directly and pretend it's a backpack. I don't think this is a good thing (come up with your own reasons). We have square1 bags because they came with the gear. They are fine. But anything will do. I just carry on the rig, supporting docs for the TSA, and a book to read all in one bag. All else gets checked. The reserve handle is always tied with the chest strap. If you can fit the rig in a normal carryon suitcase, you are set. Or any bag that's sturdy that your rig fits in is good. So a backpack or day bag is fine. If you make one of your own, do it like you were making a suit. I mean strong. Use strong material (like cordura) and high grade rigger's thread. (Alana - sorry to go off topic, but "suit's" - my wife made FF suits for a while, a couple hundred bucks is pretty reasonable for a custom suit (custom colors, patterns, tie dye, etc.) - but way expensive for just a simple off the rack type. Consider that custom needs a pattern to be made, coloring done, sewing, assembly). Also, Supplex is expensive, even a good demin. So is the right kind of thread. So materials is anywhere from $50 to 100, plus a day or two of labor, then you see that $200-$250 is pretty cheap for a home business). And an RW suit is much harder..... ... Mmmmm, pizza. Except pan pizza. Is it just me or is Pizza Hut pizza - pan - just a big gross pile of greasy dog poo. What is it? Do they deep fry that thing? Yup - It's a little harder, so you work more. Learn alot as a result, though. There are edge effects and it's easier to steal air from each other - even when not in another's column, sometimes just below and on the other side can affect the air for the other guy. And the fall rate stuff is different, as a slower fall rate in the tunnel puts you in a higher spot, but in real air, a slower fall rate will CONTINUE to separate you more as time goes on. This all can make you feel a little sluggish, especially with more than 2 people. I don't know about FF in the tunnel, but I bet much of the comparisons are the same. But the walls force you to keep in your spot and not always compensating for the other guys, that's a plus. So are 2 and 3 minute practice 'dives'
